Erm yes. I wash top to toe each wash. Starting with hair (or face if not washing hair) so clean bits don't get covered with soap from dirty bits

Fresta · 13/05/2019 07:49

Yes of course! I make no wonder so many women complain of flaky calves - you're not exfoliating the red skin cells away by rubbing with a sponge- I wash my feet too- just standing in the shower doesn't remove the dirt- it just wets it!

Fresta · 13/05/2019 07:49

dead not red

On summer holiday when I’ve been covered in sun cream and feet get dusty from wearing sandals, yes I will wash my feet and legs with shower gel or whatever (though recently switched to soap-free cleanser on medical advice). But the rest of the year? No - they don’t get dirty. I reckon standing in the the warm water which is running down from the rest of me is sufficient. The skin gets a bit of a rub when I towel dry. I periodically do my feet, attending to hard skin areas while clipping/filing toe nails.

It’s enough. I’m pretty sure my legs and feet don’t smell. Armpits and other juicy bits, those are the bits that need a proper wash!

BlueJava · 13/05/2019 07:54

Yes, I wash all over with exfoliating gloves or a puffa thing and soap in the shower everyday. I've got in the shower so why not do the job properly?! :)

Passthecherrycoke · 13/05/2019 07:54

So many women complain of flaky calves? 🤣 I have literally never heard of flaky calves

Aprillygirl · 13/05/2019 07:56

Yes I give my shins a going over with an exfoliating glove and soap my inner thighs, but thinking about it I don't really I bother with the back of my legs so much. No one thus far has complained that my legs smell though.

Jenasaurus · 13/05/2019 08:21

I have a bath the majority of the time and shave my legs almost daily after lathering with soap so I do wash them but realise in the shower I don’t. So if I showered my legs would be ignored

motherheroic · 13/05/2019 08:24

Standing in the shower isn't washing your legs. All the dirt from your top half runs down and accumulates on your bottom half, so it needs to be washed away.

Also that twitter thread was mainly about the woman who said she only showers once or twice a week. Absolutely nothing in between, not even a sink wash.

Sakura7 · 13/05/2019 08:30

I don't think legs need to be washed every single day, but they should be washed at least a couple of times a week. They do shed skin and sweat. I can't believe some people never wash their feet!

My system is to just wash pits, bits, etc, on the days when I wash my hair (about once every three days). On the other days I wash everywhere.

I have a friend who just lets the suds from her shampoo run down her body and she considers that sufficiently clean. I don't get it myself, but to be fair she doesn't smell.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/05/2019 08:33

Those who think letting the water run on their feet gets them clean Confused should perhaps give them a good scrub, I bet you'd see a difference.

00100001 · 13/05/2019 08:42

Bloody hell. Go and read the strip wash thread for some crazy people.

Where apparently you can't get "clean enough" through a strip wash and you will smell. But standing in a shower with soapy water dripping down your legs is clean enough?

MN is crazy....!

PettyContractor · 13/05/2019 08:46

In a discussion on a similar subject on another forum, a man remembered a girl he had dated, who never bathed or showered. She was a model and thought water was bad for her skin. He said she was clean and smelt nice.

Just putting this out there for all the people who think anyone who doesn't wash like them is doing it wrong.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 13/05/2019 08:48

I think it's more likely that someone who claimed they never bathed or showered because water was bad for their skin and didn't smell would be lying.

PeachesAndMayo · 13/05/2019 08:54

Yes.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2019 09:11

Anyone who has teenage boys will know that standing under the shower without washing doesn't clean properly.

Tolleshunt · 13/05/2019 09:21

Most teenage boys would need a lot more washing than most grown women, assuming said woman isn't covered in sun cream, mud etc

Unicornshopkeeper · 13/05/2019 09:22

I find it more surprising that people would shower without washing their hair but each to their own.

I'd like someone who vehemently believes we should all be soaping up top to toe daily to answer the point that if this thread is to be believed 50%ish of people don't wash their legs, and yet 50% of people don't smell bad?

AguerosAngel · 13/05/2019 09:25

I wash my legs with a puffa thing and shower gel every time I have a shower,I wouldn’t think of not washing my legs.

Trufflethewuffle · 13/05/2019 09:26

I do wash my legs in the shower. Backs of thighs in particular as they are the bits that come into contact with the toilet seat.

SrSteveOskowski · 13/05/2019 09:30

Of course I wash my legs in the shower. I'm confused by the amount of people here who don't Confused

MIL never washes her feet. As far as she's concerned they get wet from standing in there and that means they're clean.
Her feet absolutely stink.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2019 09:33

50%ish of people don't wash their legs, and yet 50% of people don't smell bad?
According to them!

cuppycakey · 13/05/2019 09:33

Nope, and never had scaly calves. My feet smell lovely.

I do have very long thick curly hair though which is always washed in shower and this means there is a veritable waterfall of soapy water sloshing down my calves. I just don't get dirty legs Confused

Then again, I never go to the gym so maybe if my calves were all sweaty and horrid I might think to wash them????? Probably not.

MorrisZapp · 13/05/2019 09:37

'all the dirt from your top half runs down and accumulates on your bottom half'

Wtf??? No it doesn't, it runs down your bottom half and down the plughole. My knees don't smell of sweaty armpit cells that decided to cling on rather than face death in the drainage pipe, nor do my toes smell of bum.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 13/05/2019 09:40

I do head to toe daily with one of those puff things, would only feel half clean if I didn’t wash my legs!
