It's a parking one!!

So we live in a relatively new build which has 6 designated spaces (think 1A, 1B, 1C and so on)

I'm not long back and there is a car in my space, so I parked in the one next to me. The next door neighbour came out and asked me to move as her husband is due back soon.
But move where!!

AIBU?

Block the car in?

PutyourtoponTrevor · 12/05/2019 10:31

So you wouldn't move if asked either dobby? That makes you an inconsiderate dick too

flowery · 12/05/2019 10:32

Hang on, you’ve parked in your neighbour’s space, she’s quite reasonably asked you to move and you’re still there?!

YABVU

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/05/2019 10:33

You are just as unreasonable as the petition who’s taken your spot.

GruciusMalfoy · 12/05/2019 10:34

Park your car behind the one that's in your space. Obviously. You can't create a domino effect of inconvenience because you're pissed off.

JacquesHammer · 12/05/2019 10:35

YABVU - move your car.

Block the person who has parked in your space, don’t inconvenience another neighbour

WindsweptEgret · 12/05/2019 10:35

Park behind the car in your spot or move your car to the spot 7 minutes away now. Can't you just leave the car seat in the car?

MidniteScribbler · 12/05/2019 10:37

I have 3 kids and shopping that I needed to get in to the house.

Oh.... why didn't you tell us you have reproduced?

Obviously your fecundity means that you can do whatever you like.

flowery · 12/05/2019 10:40

It seems very unlikely that there is literally nowhere you could temporarily bung your car out of the way that isn’t 7 minutes walk away. On a Sunday, when there are unlikely to be parking wardens swarming.

S1naidSucks · 12/05/2019 10:41

Reverse! It has to be a reverse or you’re an even cheekier fucker than the person who took your spot as the person who OWNS/RENTS that spot has asked you to move.

I still think it’s a reverse. 🤷‍♀️

Gustavo1 · 12/05/2019 10:42

Shock you are just as bad as the person in your space!
Parking spaces are allocated. Someone on yours does not allow you to take someone else’s. So what if you’ve got shopping and a car seat. You could unload and move your car then. What if the person in your space has a passenger with a cast or was desperate for the loo so had to dash in. You’re starting a game of parking top trumps Grin

Pinkyyy · 12/05/2019 10:43

You're worse than the person in your designated space. You made the conscious decision to do to someone else what you're moaning about someone doing to you. You've been asked to move and are refusing because you're so entitled that you think you need the space more than the person who owns it? Go and move your car.

Guavaf1sh · 12/05/2019 10:46

Move your car!!

NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:50

Nobody owns it I'm sure. Otherwise the people parked wouldn't have parked in my space if they thought I owned it.
I'm not saying I need it more but I couldn't carry a car seat and look after my toddler and other child and shopping from 7 mins away.

There are no other car parks, just houses that have their own cars on the road

OP posts:
NoSauce · 12/05/2019 10:50

Why didn’t you move your car into one of the spaces?

NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:51

If her DH came to the door and asked me to move it I would, obviously wasnt coming home that soon

OP posts:
sackrifice · 12/05/2019 10:51

It's not a parking thread without a diagram.

You know this yet you just carry on regardless.

sparkleandsunshine · 12/05/2019 10:52

I’m hoping this is a reverse because how can anyone be this ridiculous!

If someone takes something from you, do you turn around to an innocent bystander and take something from them?

This is what you have done. It is unreasonable, yes it’s a parking space, and there’s other options to park further away, but you do not have any right to it, it is theirs. I suggest you move your car immediately so that everyone of your neighbours doesn’t think you’re an asshole!

I’ve had someone park in my space when we lived in a flat and I've blocked them in because it’s not fair, but I would never inconvenience my neighbours because someone inconvenienced me! Sounds like you don’t really care if you make enemy’s of your neighbours.

NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:52

Because NDN husband is usually at work all day so I thought that was safer than using somebody else's space

OP posts:
NoSauce · 12/05/2019 10:53

But why when asked didn’t you just move your car into another space? Not that it’s right mind you.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/05/2019 10:53

Is the space actually allocated to your property?

NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:53

I don't think there's enough space to block them in, not without blocking NDN space too

OP posts:
Singlebutmarried · 12/05/2019 10:54

Does the car in your space have an alarm? Perhaps try to rock the car to set the alarm off and then wait?

Owner approaches to turn off alarm. You ask them to move.

NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:54

Yes it has my house number painted on it, the council done that before anybody says i was giving myself a space Grin

OP posts:
NCforThisO1 · 12/05/2019 10:55

The 6 house numbers are all painted on the spaces
