ALWAYS MAXI NIGHT - discontinued WHY

Tudbury · 09/05/2019 09:59

ALWAYS MAXI NIGHT is now scented- the wisdom of always designers has finally gone mad. Again they have removed a really good product for heavy period sufferers and made it scented saying this is what women want. I really dont want people being able to smell an over scented pad. Other than that my lubby loo doesnt appreciate the irriation that it also causes, a £2 packed of scented pads ends costing me over £20 in thrush and water infection product so thanks ALWAYS. I drove round 11 shops and made several phone calls in just one day searching for the old unscented stock. Ive even rang and emailed Always asking to buy cases of old stock but no luck, ive been told women want scented or winged products. ( wings umm trusted always to leak down your legs)
If anyone else hates scented pads please contact Always to complain.
Ive tried the other nighttime peoduces on offer but find them rubbish. It would be easier to stick on the loo for a week than it is to gind decent sanitary products

My undercarriage can't cope with scented pads either.
I did discover that they are good moth repellants though as I shoved the remains of the pack in my wardrobe. DH had some clothes moths in his, but they didn't arrive in mine.

IAmTheChosenOne · 09/05/2019 10:02

A company will have done its market reasearch and changed a product accordingly

bingoitsadingo · 09/05/2019 10:04

If women want scented pads why don't they label them a bit more obviously.

The amount of packs of pads I've accidentally bought that turn out to be scented is unreal. I'm probably skewing their statistics.

Mehaveit · 09/05/2019 10:06

They may well have done their market research (TURF analysis) to capture the market majority but it's still bloody annoying for those left without an option in the WHOLE of the market now.

MTBMummy · 09/05/2019 10:08

Urgh - I hate scented pads, have several packs that I have donated to the local woman's refuge (which I actually feel bad about) because I didn't spot the minuscule print that said it was "fanny irritating" rather than "plain".

If my menopause could just hurry the fuck up so I can be done with periods all together so I can forget that such monstrosities exist

Socksontheradiator · 09/05/2019 10:09

I can't cope with scented sanitary products either. OP, I recently changed to cloth pads and was surprised to find the long night ones way better than disposables. No more doubling up with tampons/getting up to change pads in middle of the night. Worth a try?

Tudbury · 09/05/2019 10:09

Always have kept the pad the same but theyve added proactive to the label and it stinks. I cant understand why theyve fully removed the nonscented version, so take my options away way dont they. There are thousands of woman that rely on these pads every month, its not like we can manage without them. I tried a different product last night and at 1am i was changing my bedding soooo mad

This is why I've moved to washables. I use a cup anyway so it's just the extra protection I need. My vag does not like to be perfumed.

PureCrimplene · 09/05/2019 10:12

Grin @ lubby loo

Redken24 · 09/05/2019 10:16

Yuck! Absolutely so tired of these scented products. Literally burn my nethers to bits and the smell is fackin horrible.
Interested in these washables -

Keepaddingpets · 09/05/2019 10:19

Try Bodyform. Not scented and much cheaper and IMHO better!!

scaryteacher · 09/05/2019 10:22

They've done the same to the Always Maxi pad as well, and it seems slightly smaller as well.

Keep Always works for me, Bodyform doesn't.

showgirl · 09/05/2019 10:27

I have changed to cloth ones for this very reason. They are very good. No more sweaty itchy undercarriage.

Cornettoninja · 09/05/2019 10:27

Scented pads suck balls. It’s not even a ‘nice’ scent. They smell like public toilet air freshener urgh.

Tesco own have been a reasonable alternative for me - and cheap. Practically it’s worth investigating maternity pads or continence pads for night time use (bit bulky for the daytime for me personally) if you’re really heavy. They’re actually designed to absorb lots of fluid quickly so can be much better.

I keep meaning to try the reusable pads because they look so comfy.

FriedEggs1 · 09/05/2019 10:28

Have you tried ebay op?

MidsomerBurgers · 09/05/2019 10:29

I complained a few weeks ago and was told they are not scented, it's some kind of 'odour control' thing.

EvilDog · 09/05/2019 10:31

Im still using maternity pads for night time 2 years after giving birth. Can’t be doing with itchy lavender infused flaps

Yabu to say lubby loo. Yadnbu about getting rid of unscented pads. My colleague next to me at work wears them and I can smell them from about 8ft away!

I usually wear tampons but got some pads in my Bounty pack after I gave birth. I didn’t even realise scented pads was a thing but I stupidly used them after my post birth bleeding died down. My poor fanny was on fire within minutes! Now whenever I recognise the smell on my colleague I get an itchy vag.

JacquesHammer · 09/05/2019 10:32

Have you tried Aldi night pads? An absolute fraction of the cost, unscented and cope miraculously with heavy periods.

Tudbury · 09/05/2019 10:44

Right here we go, cant use tampons, bodyform was the 1am bedding change last night. Tried sainburys nighttime yesterday and they are like the first stick on sanitary pads that came out after dr whites with loops. Aldi's just arent long enough so leaky bum crack lol im 50 so sorry all you young ladies even at 50 the menapause isnt even in the horizon.
The cup just gross's me out. Ive just contacted ALWAYS via email and asked them to look at all your lovely replies hopefully they will. I can only hope maybe they will give us back the only decent pad for heavy ladies

I’m another that has switched to cloth pads after a brief flirt with body form (they actually were alright but my local Tesco were nearly always out of stick & the village shops only have Always).

If you can find them maternity pads might work for you.

misskatamari · 09/05/2019 11:01

YANBU scented pads are absolutely rank! I used to use Always and when my periods started again post having kids they'd seemed to make them all bloody scented. I use asda/aldi own brand night ones now, which thankfully are mostly okay for me (and so much cheaper, which is an added bonus), but that's no help if they don't work for you. Every post i've ever seen on here about scented pads has been filled with women agreeing with how awful they are, i really don't know who these companies are asking when they say that women want them!

RogueV · 09/05/2019 11:03

Stopped using Always a few years ago for precisely his reason. I hate scented pads. They stink!

Bodyform are my go to now, they are cheaper and much nicer.

Birdshitbridgegotme · 09/05/2019 11:03

Oh man, the scented ones are awful. They smell so bad and even walking down that aisle at the supermarket the smell gets to me
