22 degrees here today and DH just tried to turn on the air conditioning!!!

Nearlythere1 · 05/05/2019 19:58

I'm a super chilly person, and find when i'm sitting working or just about the house, a hot water bottle heats me better than cranking the heating up. The direct contact with your body really heats your blood up!

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 19:58

You will not be unwell , just a bit cold.

mushroommayhem · 05/05/2019 19:59

Yanbu. I am always bitterly cold so I get you. I suffer in cold weather and have to heat my house to compensate or I get ill

WhoAteMyNuts · 05/05/2019 20:00

Our central heating is new and therefore 20degrees feels like 20. In other houses the thermostat was rubbish and it needed to be at a higher number for the same effect.

MrsTeaspoon · 05/05/2019 20:18

You don’t need to heat the whole house in order to feel warm, it’s May it’s not cold outside and you live in the South East...it’s not actually cold. So, if you FEEL cold then why not try things such as thick socks, woolly jumper, wrist warmers, a hot water bottle, a cup of tea, good slippers, wrap a quilt/throw round your shoulders for half an hour. Alpaca socks are amazing.

Purplehammer · 05/05/2019 20:56

My thermostat is set at 22 all year round.
Obviously Heating doesn’t come on when temp is above that.
Just set it and forget it.
I do the same in the car.
I’m lazy.

tor8181 · 05/05/2019 21:05

mine is 35(max it can go)

ive got a clock devise thing that says indoor temperature and its always between 45+ degrees in the living room but im valleys of south wales on a mountain in the middle of nowhere with nothing behind or at the side of our street(20 houses on top of the mountain)when the sun goes down it gets cold and dark so i spend a shit load on utilities per week

ive also naked children all the time(SE needs)so have to always keep the air warm.

best thing we bought was hive heating as it gets turned on via a phone or just by asking alexia

PutyourtoponTrevor · 05/05/2019 21:12

Mine's at 22 and it's just pleasant

Dowser · 05/05/2019 21:16

I switch mine on at 22-23

ArgyMargy · 05/05/2019 21:26

YANBU. I am always cold with mine at 20.

TalkinPaece · 05/05/2019 21:32

What your thermostat says
and the actual temperature of your house may not be related

My thermostat is set at 24
but my Max/Min thermometers tell me that my house drops to 15 overnight (cold bedrooms = better sleep) and up to 19 in the day

GorkyMcPorky · 05/05/2019 21:32

Ours is never above 20 and then only early morning and evening. It's off at the moment.

Those who have it running constantly, do you mind me asking what your bills are like? Our dual fuel bill is just over £100/mth for a 4 bed. Just wondering if it's more efficient to keep it constant.

RedSheep73 · 05/05/2019 21:34

You know yabu. Get a cardigan.

ASauvignonADay · 05/05/2019 21:35

Mines been off for weeks! When it is on, I have it at 19 or 20

donquixotedelamancha · 05/05/2019 21:36

I must BVU as I sometimes have mine at 28

Are you a tortoise?

wellballstoyou · 05/05/2019 21:39

mines only at 19!

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/05/2019 21:46

it’s May it’s not cold outside It is, actually. At the moment it's 8 deg, and it's going down to 4 overnight.

WheelyCote · 05/05/2019 21:46

Do you live in a draughty house?

Actually I've just realised that as I'm a vegan it all equals out Grin

It is a draughty victorian house. Think we need to get a cat flap for the kitchen/bathroom and close the door.

Or maybe the thermostat is shit.

I have a WONDERFUL skiing thermal under shirt (I do not ski, it was £5 at Decathlon) that keeps me warm as toast and means I keep the heating low

MaxNormal · 05/05/2019 22:15

It didn't get into double figures here today. It certainly is cold. My heating is at 22 and I've got a hot water bottle on the go.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/05/2019 22:16

I don't want to wear a ski suit, I want to put my heating on.

LoafofSellotape · 05/05/2019 22:19

It was freezing where I live today, the wind was bitter,I was wearing winter boots and a coat and the house was an ice box! I rarely have the heating up high but today I did.
