22 is too cold! And I've got a jumper on.

OP posts:
Reddedder · 05/05/2019 19:28

Mines is set to 21 and I’m always boosting it. Hate being cold and I refuse to sit in layers inside the house

cushioncovers · 05/05/2019 19:29

Mines on 21. Is your house well insulated op? How old is your boiler?. That can make a big difference in whether your house actually hits 23 degrees or not.

BringOnTheScience · 05/05/2019 19:30

23 is a decent summer day. Do you really have it that warm? Get a separate thermometer and check.

If it really is 23 in your house, then you need to put on some socks & a jumoer and turn it down! Even if you don't care about the environment, what is it costing you in bills?

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 19:31

19 at tops. Hasn’t been on at all in the last three weeks. Have fire on tonight though but no radiators. We are mid Wales. That’s a shocking waste op, do you not feel guilty? Sorry if you are ill or something.

adaline · 05/05/2019 19:31

Ours is set to about 18 but it's not been on for months!

TheSmallAssassin · 05/05/2019 19:33

I turned up ours to 20 (from 19) for a hour earlier and got told off by the kids! Get a blanket or a fleece on. I have been known to turn it up to 21 if I'm feeling really cold, but it does get too hot if I leave it there. You just need to get used to it. Or move around a bit.

Sycamoretrees · 05/05/2019 19:34

It depends where your thermostat actually is, it may not be that high all over your house.

RavenLG · 05/05/2019 19:35

Ours is set to 18/19, it's registering 19 on the thermostat at the moment. It's on a timer though so only set for a few hours in evening and morning if it's even cold enough to come on.
If you're not in a jumper then you're not cold as my Ddad would tell me as a teenager lol.

Snowflakes1122 · 05/05/2019 19:36

Well, yes yabu, unless you have a health related issue. Get a jumper on or move around more

WhoAteMyNuts · 05/05/2019 19:36

Yes if you have a jumper on and feel cold turn it up. I hate being cold.

Sometimes though a nice long really warm bath can help.

WhoAteMyNuts · 05/05/2019 19:38

PP's saying put a jumper on, did you miss that the OP has one on?

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2019 19:38

I feel the cold and we live in a drafty house. The heating is never ever above 21. Now it is set to about 18 usually and I may occasionally give it a quick boost if there is a wind going through the house. I often wear a scarf indoors during winter and always socks. That’s fine though. I enjoy feeling bundled. On the other hand my husband wears shorts all year round in the house. It works for us

28 is absolutely ridiculous - do you wander about naked?

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/05/2019 19:39

I have mine at 25, and sometimes still boost it.
I'm often cold.

Pscryforhelp · 05/05/2019 19:41

North England and I like it around 20-25°c

annikin · 05/05/2019 19:46

Yanbu. Ours is at 23 too. Everyone saying it's bad for the environment, I understand what you're saying but are you perfectly environmentally friendly yourselves? I recycle, only have 2dc etc and only fly once a year, so I think many people do worse than me to the environment. It's not nice to be permanently freezing in your own home.

SherlockSays · 05/05/2019 19:47

I have mine at 30 sometimes and have done in the past week! I have a cold, old house.

There is nothing worse than being cold and I refuse to be so in my own home.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/05/2019 19:47

PPs saying put a jumper on, did you miss that the OP has one on?

I didn't miss it. If she's still cold, she can put something warmer on, make a hot drink, move around a bit, wear layers instead, etc.

PPs agreeing with the OP, did you miss that this is just one of many reasons why the planet is fucked? But you're a bit chilly, so I guess that's OK then.

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 19:48

23dgrees is not freezing!

shankOO1 · 05/05/2019 19:48

Mines is it 25 Blush I'm even wearing a dressing gown Blush

pigsDOfly · 05/05/2019 19:48

Mine is on 23 and I'm wearing, on top, bra, thermal vest, blouse, long sleeved double knit round neck jumper and a chunky knit cardigan. If I wear any more layers I won't be able to move.

I'm also wear jeans and socks.

My house is always cold and the heating doesn't kick in, even in the depths of winter if the thermostats are set at 18 - I have two, one for the general house, and a separate one for the living room.

It's all very well saying put it on 18 but if it doesn't come on at that setting what am I suppose to do, freeze to death?

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 19:50

Good god, you will not freeze to death.

BustersBloodVessel · 05/05/2019 19:50

Ours is at 23, it's chilly tonight.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/05/2019 19:53

I flatly refuse to be cold and uncomfortable in my own home.
Of course I dress appropriately but I'm not wearing three jumpers, a scarf and thermal leggings instead of putting the heating on.
The environment can get to fuck in this case.

pigsDOfly · 05/05/2019 19:54

Well no, I won't freeze to death in May obviously, I was talking about in the winter, in an unheated house I suspect I'd be pretty unwell.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/05/2019 19:54

Nothing worse than being cold

None of these move you?
