Makes me a bit

she's only been here for 2 days and has posted heaps and I've been here for years and years and only post a bit so no-one knows me

i'm sure she's lovely and it's not like it's her fault, but I'm annoyed

(have asked her politely if she'd like to change her name...now she probably hates me)

AIBU?

who is she?

bookwormtailmum · 17/07/2007 19:54

Add 'I was here first' onto your name?

tassis · 17/07/2007 19:54

she's tassi

OP posts:
oooggs · 17/07/2007 19:57

same thing has happened to me tassis

LazyLineLegilimens · 17/07/2007 19:58

Change your name to TassisTheFirst

Patronuscharm · 17/07/2007 20:07

It's a bit irritating isn't it. I joined recently under one name - it took me three attempts to find a name not already taken and then when I posted my first messages someone pointed out that my "name" was almost identical to another poster and suggested I change it. Thank God for Harry Potter is what I say.

WilkiesWizardWheezes · 17/07/2007 20:08

YABU

Doesn't really matter surely??

expatinscotland · 17/07/2007 20:09

Someone's almost got the exact same name as mine. Even the case is the same.

aDad · 17/07/2007 20:10

just post on a thread she is on and point it out politely, I'm sure she will be perfectly willing to change name.

bookwormtailmum · 17/07/2007 20:11

I've changed my name a few times already but I think I'll stick with BWM (or BWTM for the next few weeks ) now. Why not find a more unique name?

aDad · 17/07/2007 20:11

(that was to the op not you expat!)

mytwopenceworth · 17/07/2007 20:12

Yeah you are. But I understand. There's a couple of coins knocking about and I feel oddly peeved as it's MY name.

But really, it's like having 2 Jane's in the class.

Or a Jane and a Jan, to be more accurate.

tassis · 17/07/2007 20:13

and how does that make you feel expat? i think it's different for you though because you post a lot so you're "known"

aDad - i have asked her nicely, we'll see what she says...I appreciate it's lot like she did it on purpse and I'm sure she's bery nice and I appreciate talking about her behind her back's not very nice or welcoming

WWW (isn't there another of those?!) you're right...it really doesn't matter at all in the big scheme of things...

OP posts:
aDad · 17/07/2007 20:15

is that expatinengland?

The first time I saw that name i thought it was just you on holiday.

Sixofone · 17/07/2007 20:17

I think you are, a little bit...does it really matter, I mean, I am sure you are very much loved and respected IRL and isn't that more important than what a load of strangers, some of whom are a bit wierd, think?

Unless, she is trolling under the guise of your almost-name, which isn't fun and you would be fully justified

Fimbo · 17/07/2007 20:21

I don't think YABU because it is basically the same name and the pair of you could easily be confused. If Tassi doesn't change then their are some good suggestions on here like TassisTheFirst

Sixofone · 17/07/2007 20:24

Actually, on reflection, if someone called themselves (e.g) six-of-one, which is what I am minus the -'s, I'd be well pissed so no YANBU

expatinscotland · 17/07/2007 20:25

That's the one, aDad.

Not me.

I think I might change my name.

tassis · 17/07/2007 20:26

thanks sixofone (FWIW I always read your name six-o-fone!!)

Anyone who thinks expatinengland has anything to do with expatinscotland has issues with Britishness

Katy44 · 17/07/2007 20:28

I discovered yesterday there's an ivykaty44
Not sure who was first though - if it was her I apologise
You're all going to blank me now, aren't you, and claim not to have a clue who I am?

expatinscotland · 17/07/2007 20:28

I do think I'll change my name, though.

oooggs · 17/07/2007 20:29

I haven't come across you before Katy44

WendyWeber · 17/07/2007 20:29

Oooh, what to, epis?

Surfermum · 17/07/2007 20:29

It confused the hell out of me when someone chose a similar Christmas name to my Christmas name. I kept thinking "eh? I don't remember posting that".
