she's only been here for 2 days and has posted heaps and I've been here for years and years and only post a bit so no-one knows me

i'm sure she's lovely and it's not like it's her fault, but I'm annoyed

(have asked her politely if she'd like to change her name...now she probably hates me)

something should flash up when ppl choose their names to say thre is a similar name already on MN and do they wish to continue

I think tassi should reconsider based on the fact that my work colleauge uses that word to refer to a fanjo

Anniemac, you may not know initially, but when someone contacts you , asks you to change and you refuse, becasue it is your.. surname for example

SurferRosa is a name changer I think. I'm sure she didn't intend to offend anybody...it was only a brief sabbatical...

BTW I hate name changing. The couple of times I've done it, I seem to take on an entirely different personality which is weird. Don't like subterfuge really.

flightofstairs and flightattendant are quite different though. unlike tassis and tassi and mumofmonsters (my usual un harry potter name) and mumof2monsters.

How do you find out how long an MNer has been here, and how many posts they've made? Can you only do it if they've got a personal profile?

Use search for messages, put in a range of dates and go backwards until you find their first one.

Then if it turns out you were here first you can have them excommunicated

I've never name changed apart from a Christmas name and one pretending to be a St Bernard - he doesn't say much other than woof.

There ought to be somewhere where you can look at a complete list of names in use, then you'd know what to avoid when you were picking yours.
