Apologies if this thread has been done before!

Currently in hospital having DC1. Had an examination and was told my cervix had already softened and midwife could feel baby's head.

I've had the first propess so now just a waiting game Sad

How long did it take for you?

I had the first pessary at 4pm Monday... Then the next two on Tuesday. Got cramps and tightening but didn't start labour. Took me down on the Wednesday 5o labour suite and broke my waters. Baby was born 90 mins later. Annoyingly they told me they could of broke my waters on the Monday but had no beds in labour suite. It felt like those 48 hours were 48 days!

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 28/04/2019 17:46

DC1-propess did nothing. Plan to wait overnight then review but contractions started and 45 minutes later she was born

DC3-waters broken, born 3 hours later

blackteasplease · 28/04/2019 17:46

The first time my contractions literally started while the midwife still had her hand in there! The it was 12 hours from then til the birth.

Second time started contractions within half an hour and the total time from pessary til birth was about 3 hours.
Didn't need anything beyond gas and air so don't worry yourself!

DonnaDarko · 28/04/2019 17:48

24 hours. I was in labour for 20 hours.

Unfortunately I was also hyper-stimulated from the propress so I had fairly intensive contractions from early on and, when they measured me, I was having 8 contractions in 10 minutes :(

Personally would rather not do it all again but the broodiness is back now that DS is nearly a preschooler 😂

xxreeldancerxx · 28/04/2019 18:44

Hopefully things are progressing and you meet your baby soon x

incogneto · 28/04/2019 21:42

STILL nothing major happening!

Anyone got any tips for bringing it on? I've literally walked all round the hospital today and been bouncing on the birthing ball Sad

They say sex helps bring it on.
Do you have a side ward. Grin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/04/2019 21:48

Room rather.

Pinkyponkcustard · 28/04/2019 21:49

Have they said what the plan is? So tiring being on a ward

Igottastartthinkingbee · 28/04/2019 21:51

I had the first pessary. Nothing happened. 24 hours later I had another pessary which kicked things off, baby born 4 hours later. Just keep doing as you’re doing and rest when you can. Good luck.

ny20005 · 28/04/2019 21:54

Will they give you another pessary ?

isntthatalwaystheway · 28/04/2019 22:03

Sunday Morning my induction process started, sadly it wasn't very successful in my case so DC was born the Wednesday Night by EMCS - Good Luck OP! Thanks

Schoolchoicesucks · 28/04/2019 22:16

4 days. Had one dose of pessary on days 1 and 2, then delivery suite got too busy for them to escalate to next stage both days.
Meant that by the time dc arrived on day 4, I'd slept for a total of about 6 hours over the 4 days as there was always someone in labour a few yards away. Was so relieved dc2 didn't have to be induced.

Schoolchoicesucks · 28/04/2019 22:22

Tips - I left the hospital on day 3 (snuck out as wasn't meant to!) for a pub lunch. Had started getting ketones in urine samples after 2.5 days of hospital food. Contractions started in the pub.

Biolama · 28/04/2019 22:22

33 minutes from pessary in to baby. Good luck!

Tweedypie · 28/04/2019 22:23

Three days, .....only in real labour for last 16 hours, pessary thing didn't work first three go's

Thadeus · 28/04/2019 22:37

Are you rotating your pelvis on that ball?

Womble351 · 28/04/2019 22:42

16.5 minutes start to finish

Tunnocks34 · 28/04/2019 22:43

12 hours from propess to first contraction.

90 minutes from first contraction to my son being born.

Noodledoodledoo · 28/04/2019 22:51

Propress went in about 3pm Thursday, finally put on drip 4pm Sunday, EMCS at 9am Monday morning. That was first baby. Induced on due date.

2nd, had a foley catheter induction - no hormones at all, inserted 4pm Wendesday - baby born 6 am Thursday in a bit of a rush!! 12 days overdue!

Long and slow was my experience of hormonal induction. Good luck.

fadingfast · 28/04/2019 22:51

I was induced with both of mine at around 38 weeks. First took about 24 hours (from 2nd pessary), second took around 12 hours. I also spent ages on the birthing ball and pacing the hospital corridors, and I had a particular obsession with going up and down stairs as I think I'd heard (or been told) it might help. I think going up/down sideways is meant to help the most (holding on to handrail!). No idea if it made any difference but it at least felt as though I could do something to speed it up a bit.

MegaClutterSlut · 28/04/2019 23:00

Started having contractions 10 minutes after the pessary but took nearly 48 hours of hell before dd was born

bellajay · 28/04/2019 23:07

Four days for me, I had two pessaries and two of something else between Sunday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, they said it was the max amount of prostaglandin I could have but luckily they thought they would just about be able to break my waters through the less than 1cm opening. The third person to attempt it managed! Straight on the drip and up to the max level pretty quickly and it was another 28 hours after that before baby finally made an appearance via forceps delivery. It’s cheesy to say so but it really is worth every second of waiting when you’re holding your baby!

Boobahs · 28/04/2019 23:15

Mine didn't work Confused
