Apologies if this thread has been done before!

Currently in hospital having DC1. Had an examination and was told my cervix had already softened and midwife could feel baby's head.

I've had the first propess so now just a waiting game Sad

How long did it take for you?

Waters broken at 9am, drip started at midday, baby born at 7pm

TrixieFranklin · 27/04/2019 22:07

Days but I was only 36 weeks and having twins Angry sorry OP I hope things move along quickly for you.

PersianStar · 27/04/2019 22:12

1st propess put in 8am Thursday, 2nd and 3rd needed over next few days with sweeps in between... finally dilated 1cm by Monday am so they did ARM at 12pm, drip by 1.30pm... baby delivered 7.30 am tursday!
That was with a favourable cervix 😫

TwinkleMerrick · 27/04/2019 22:18

3 days for me x

diavlo · 27/04/2019 22:41

38W both times.
Dc1 - 10 hours from first pessary, 7 hours from first contraction.
Dc2 - 14hours from first pessary, 8 hours from first contraction.

MadameJosephine · 27/04/2019 22:47

First pessary Sunday at 4pm, baby born Wednesday morning at 6.31am

NormaSnickers · 27/04/2019 22:54

Just under 8 hrs - first baby, 14 days late.
Didn’t have pessary as was already 2cm dilated so midwife broke my waters at 12.30pm. Nothing really happened after that so was started on the drip at around 4pm - contractions ramped up immediately and DS was born at 8.13pm!
Good luck OP - hope things get going soon and you’ ll soon have a healthy little boy in your arms!

underneaththeash · 27/04/2019 23:17

Both times 10 hours. First time waters broken, second time pessary.

underneaththeash · 27/04/2019 23:18

That was 2nd/3rd baby though. I wasn’t I induced in time with first and my placenta degraded.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/04/2019 11:30

How's it going

incogneto · 28/04/2019 16:37

Had second pessary, period like pains in front and back at first, had paracetamol and they have now subsided.

Examined this morning, cervix was still very far back and firm Sad

Today from pessery to baby 2 hours but 4th baby and history of quick labours

Pinkyponkcustard · 28/04/2019 17:24

I had 2 pessaries and was no where near. So frustrating and knackering. In the end having the third pessary caused my “hind waters” to go and as it was murky they got me down to the labour ward on a drip.

Laboured forever (8 hours) and nothing happened at all so had an emergency c section and all was good. Recovered quickly and baby healthy.

Best of luck op, I know it’s the most soul destroying thing in the world when all the other women are being taken down to the labour ward. It’s worth it I promise and would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Pinkyponkcustard · 28/04/2019 17:25

Have they mentioned what they are going to do next? I think if my “hind waters” hadn’t gone they were going to get me on the drip anyway.

Pinkyponkcustard · 28/04/2019 17:26

Try and rest up if you can (easier said than done on a noisy ward)

beanhunter · 28/04/2019 17:27

First time 60 hrs from pessary to delivery
2nd time 3 hrs from waters being broken to delivery.

TrixieFranklin · 28/04/2019 17:27

24 hours after my second pessary I was at 1cm so they were able to break my waters and then put me on the drip which got things going (albeit slowly) I then laboured for 21 hours and then had an emergency section.

Definitely ask what their plan is!

MamaNewtNewt · 28/04/2019 17:29

16 hours from start to finish. I was lucky as they were able to break my waters and I went straight into labour. Good luck!

Pinkyponkcustard · 28/04/2019 17:31

@TrixieFranklin 21 hours! And then a section! I bet you were knackered

Raggerty54 · 28/04/2019 17:34

About 10 hours

drogon1 · 28/04/2019 17:37

Took about 8 hours from pessary to baby. Good luck!

Thadeus · 28/04/2019 17:38

3 and half days. No contractions, very bad back ache. Needed a poo. Baby here.

Mari50 · 28/04/2019 17:39

36 hours from pessary to EMCS via second pessary, waters being broken manually and pitocin drip. I looked and felt like I’d been hit by a bus.

goose1964 · 28/04/2019 17:41

First pessary at 9 waters broken at noon baby at 11pm. Third 3 days with no progress, doc said one more try and if nothing happens c-section, that was 10am contractions started at 1pm and she was born just after 2pm

I was supposed to be inducer with my second but I was 7cm dilated so no need.

crispysausagerolls · 28/04/2019 17:41

Second Pessary the did job for me and proper labour started 5-6 hours afterwards. 1pm it went in and 3am he arrived. 4kg - big boy. My cervix was apparently soft and favourable in the beginning too. Really gets your hopes up! Hope you’re ok x
