Apologies if this thread has been done before!

Currently in hospital having DC1. Had an examination and was told my cervix had already softened and midwife could feel baby's head.

I've had the first propess so now just a waiting game Sad

How long did it take for you?

Justonemorepancake · 27/04/2019 15:56

13 hours. No pessary - broken waters then a drip for 8 hours.

MaryShelley1818 · 27/04/2019 16:17

I had the first pessary at 5pm on Monday evening and delivered DS at 1.30am Thursday morning.

Louiselouie0890 · 27/04/2019 16:44

3 days but one day was waiting for a spot on about ward

SadieContrary · 27/04/2019 17:26

First pessary - nothing (so had a really good sleep). They inserted another after 7 hours and my DD was in my arms around 10hours after that

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/04/2019 17:29

How are things.
It must be a fantastic job being a midwife, mustn't it.
I think I'd be crying at every delivery.

Less than 2 hours but 2nd baby. Hope it’s quick OP

HettyStThomas · 27/04/2019 18:23

Pessary went in at 1pm, baby born at 4am

incogneto · 27/04/2019 18:41

Still no proper pains or any progression! Sad

OP posts:
INoahGuy · 27/04/2019 18:53

17 hours from the first of two pessaries until birth.

Ihatehashtags · 27/04/2019 19:03

30 hours

carrielou2007 · 27/04/2019 20:09

Very similar story to lots of posters, induced for all 3 of my dc at 42 weeks. Dd1 induced 9am tue, delvered 4am Friday by forceps 9 lb 6 oz. ds1 inducecec 4.30pm has him 7.30pm after refusing the drip (never EVER again) midwife came in telling me off for all the noise, her face drained of colour as I was crowning. He was 10lb. Ds2 induced at 3.30pm due to complications delivered by EMCS at 8.40pm a tiny 6lb 13iz. Very lucky as told he had no pulse and given worst prognosis. Referred for sterilisation at 6week check could not handle any further inductions. Good luck OP

kiwielite · 27/04/2019 20:13

6 hours from first contraction to birth, we watched a couple of films for the first 2.5 hours. This was with the drip.

Had the pessary first and it did absolutely nothing, not a twinge.

NixNopeNah · 27/04/2019 20:49

First pessary 9am Monday, waters manually broken 6pm Tuesday, baby born by emcs due to failure to progress at 3pm Wednesday.

If they put you on a drip, definitely get the epidural.

Babynut1 · 27/04/2019 20:54

44 hours from the time they inserted the pessary until the time my DS was born.
Good luck xx

Knockthreetimes · 27/04/2019 20:56

Had pessary at 3pm small pains started about 7pm I was 3cm at 12pm next morning and then it just all went really fast and he was born at 12.55pm so 22 hours after pessary.

Looneytune253 · 27/04/2019 21:03

I had to have the pessary the night before (and stayed in). I woke about 8am, there was some signs of contractions on the monitors (I couldn't feel them) and no dilation. Waters were broken by the midwife about 10am and baby was out 12.30pm

RCC18 · 27/04/2019 21:11

39 hours from 1st pessary. I had 2 pessarys then the drip, then they tried a few times to break my waters. My cervix was pointing backwards so slowed things down a lot. Fingers crossed its quicker for you!

Headinabook85 · 27/04/2019 21:18

5 hrs! First baby (a boy!)

I was 5cm dilated without having had any noticeable contractions by the time I got to the hospital. Skipped the pessary and went straight to drip. Was induced due to a week of monitoring his reduced movements. Was best to get him out safe and sound.

Had the epi...was a wonderful birth and a very special day.

cadburyegg · 27/04/2019 21:25

I was induced with DS2. First pessary 1am, slept and woke up with contractions. Second pessary 9am, more contractions and got some more sleep, woke up and they had stopped. Had a sweep at 3pm and walked around a lot, went to costa at 5pm to get a coffee and cake. Distinctly remember feeling like he had changed position... engaged maybe. Went back to the ward afterwards as felt contractions ramping up. Waters broke at 6.30pm, staff on antenatal ward took me seriously after that and I dilated from 2-10cm in 30 minutes, he was born at 7.17pm.

It was an intense but much better experience than my spontaneous labour with DS1.

OlyRoller · 27/04/2019 21:34

14 hrs on a drip.

feelinghopeful2 · 27/04/2019 21:40

Pessary I’m at 5pm, came out at 7pm due to unfavourable cervix. Baby born at 11:11pm.

First baby too, and 12 days over due.

Dizzylin · 27/04/2019 21:47

Went in Sunday morning, had first Pessary by a lovely female doc who was very gentle. Second Pessary on Tuesday by a male doc who wasn't at all gentle and hurt Angry.

DD was born Thursday morning via forceps because I had an epidural and it slowed everything down.

incogneto · 27/04/2019 21:55

Still no significant pains, just a very heavy feeling down below and some slight cramping in my back but nothing unbearable..

Think I'm going to get on the birthing ball!

OP posts:
threeishappy · 27/04/2019 21:57

51 hours after propess I was given a c section.

threeishappy · 27/04/2019 21:58

Is sore when they pull the pessary out and put it in again isn't it. They don't tell you when booking induction that propess makes your vagina dead sore.
