Apologies if this thread has been done before!

Currently in hospital having DC1. Had an examination and was told my cervix had already softened and midwife could feel baby's head.

I've had the first propess so now just a waiting game Sad

How long did it take for you?

10 hours from pessary to birth. Contractions started immediately.
All very positive experience.

sunshineandshowers21 · 27/04/2019 12:45

i had the first pessary at 2pm on the tuesday and ended up having an emergency c section at 11am on the friday because i wasn’t progressing. on the other hand my sister had the first pessary at 6am and had her baby by 2pm.

NannyRed · 27/04/2019 12:45

How long is a piece of string?

Cokezeroisyummy · 27/04/2019 12:48

36 hours from pessary to ventouse birth. No pain at all for 12 hours after getting pessary, then very slowly ramped up. I had an epidural at about 31 hours in, thank god

WheresAllTheGoodInTheWorld · 27/04/2019 12:50

Pessary didn't work for me at all 12 hrs later they put me on the drip. And wow did things ever go from 0 to 100 fast. Drip at 11pm, only 1cm. Baby at 1.30am.
Good luck

cinnamonbun · 27/04/2019 12:51

Had pessary at 2pm on a Tuesday and had my baby at 5.30pm on Thursday.

Oliack1417 · 27/04/2019 12:54

Peasant at midday, contractions started around 6pm, ramping up at about 9 or 10pm. Born 9am the next morning. Home by 11am!

Octonuddle · 27/04/2019 12:56

two kids...two inductions - one at 37 weeks. The other at 38 weeks. Both took 4 days from first pessary to delivery. Mainly caused by a shortage of beds on labour ward Confused hope yours is quicker. Despite the time and having the drip, both were relatively nice births managed with gas and air...so while the process sucks it can still be a positive experience.
Good luck!

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 27/04/2019 12:58

56 hours.
But the woman in the bed beside me had her pessary just before me and she was taken up to the delivery room within 2 hours.
It totally varies.

NabooThatsWho · 27/04/2019 12:58

I recommend an epidural if they are going to use the drip Smile STRONGLY recommend.

DuggeeHugs · 27/04/2019 13:00

First pessary on Monday teatime, EMCS on Saturday lunchtime. I was so so so happy to have that CS!

Planetian · 27/04/2019 13:01

They broke my waters at 8am baby arrived at 1:30pm - it was great. Best of luck OP!

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 27/04/2019 13:02

23 minutes from it being started to baby in arms

whitehalleve · 27/04/2019 13:02

2 hours

Clutterbugsmum · 27/04/2019 13:03

1st eviction inductions was 4 hours from they put the drip in.

2nd eviction induction again was 4 hours with pessary.

SequinsDress · 27/04/2019 13:03

3 hours to fully dilate (started out "fully effaced" but not dilated), 1.5 hrs pushing. That was going straight onto the drip mind, no gel/pessary stage.

incogneto · 27/04/2019 13:04

@Bugsymalonemumof2 Wow! Was that first or second birth?

OP posts:
incogneto · 27/04/2019 13:04

switswoo81 · 27/04/2019 13:06

First baby: first contraction to baby: 7 hours
Second baby: first contraction to baby: 90 mins
If you are getting the drip get an epidural. Good luck!!

Tubbyinthehottub · 27/04/2019 13:06

9 hours

Llareggub · 27/04/2019 13:06

Is that you, Meghan?

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 27/04/2019 13:07

@incogneto second but my first was a c section. We literally rang MIL at 7pm to tell her they were about to start the induction and rang her just after half past annoying his birth. I had the balloon induction and them insert g it started off a very very very fast labour and birth

incogneto · 27/04/2019 13:08

About four hours- they prepared us with the speeches about how long it would take so we were gearing up for it to be several days. Instead the contractions started almost instantly and I ended up delivering on the maternity ward...! Worth mentioning though that I was 39+6 and my cervix was already favourable. My sister was induced twice at 37/38 weeks due to OC and it took about three days each time.

Catren · 27/04/2019 13:10

3.5 days including 24 hours of established labour then emergency c section. Not a great time!
