Including leather jackets, denim jackets, mac, winter, summer coats etc.

(Not counting suit jackets tho)

Starting to think I need to thin out, especially since I just saw a moth in one 😮

Ermm...
Primaloft coat, warm, comfy, no hood (2007)
Thick lined waterproof coat (recent. It took a long time to find a good one)
Waterproof jacket/ fleece 3 in 1
Light cag in a bag (aged 10 from travelling)
Thin down jacket with hood. Good for sports in cold conditions or cool days not requiring a heavier coat.
Soft shell, no hood, better in damp weather than the down.
Breathable, shower resistant running jacket.
2 smart coats, both aged 10+... probably closer to 15, didn't Mexx go bust a decade ago??? Rarely used at present due to not working and lack of formal occasions.
3 lighter cord/ denim/ linen jackets for summer. The new one is 9 years old Grin one was bought about 19-20 years ago when I went to uni. Another is my oldest garment in use and is about 25 as it was bought around the time I stopped growing as a teenager. Perfect for summery days when you want to keep a slightly sharp breeze off, it still looks fresh and is a classic cut.
I've still got a velvet formal coat from 1996. Largely redundant, but I'm very fond of it and it's a style that cycles in and out of fashion.

There is also the fleece coat from my 16th birthday which is my painting/ decorating coat, and my "car coat" which is my duffel coat from student days that began to look worn and permanently lives in the car for emergency use. Invaluable after breaking down in snow showers, lengthy motorway delays and breaking down on a day when it was mild enough to not need a coat for a few minutes outside at work, but too fresh for waiting for the AA in a layby!

They do all serve different purposes as I'm outside and walk a lot and do outdoor sports in all weathers as well as some more formal items. They don't tend to date easily or age too much so last much longer than items like jeans and tops that wear out or change cut more quickly.

3 - a raincoat, my everyday winter coat (short and suitable for cycling) and my 'good' winter coat (long, red wool and definitely not suitable for cycling)

RhinestoneCowgirl · 26/04/2019 20:38

Some of you have loads! Where do you keep them all??

megletthesecond · 26/04/2019 20:41
DitheringBlidiot · 26/04/2019 20:42

11/12 off the top of my head

bourbonbiccy · 26/04/2019 20:48

I stopped counting when I got to 35, I love coats, nearly as much as shoes.

How many do you have OP ?

JaceLancs · 26/04/2019 20:50

About 30!

cushioncovers · 26/04/2019 20:51

5

YouWinAgain · 26/04/2019 20:56

3

One winter coat
One rain mac
One light fleece jacket

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 26/04/2019 20:59

8 but if you include hoodie "coats" 10

But all of them combined cost less than £100 as they are 2nd hand from charity shops or eBay and have been bought over the last 15-20 years.

(except one which was a Christmas present but I think it was around £40/£50)

Taswama · 26/04/2019 21:05

6
Waterproof for walking
Running jacket
Lightweight raincoat
Heavyweight raincoat
Smart Woolly coat
Spare waterproof (lives on bike in case I misjudged weather)

Taswama · 26/04/2019 21:06

I’m not counting fleeces

hipslikecinderella · 26/04/2019 21:07

North face short waterproof
Haglofs parka
Lundhags parka
Fleischer couture padded
Barbour short padded
Escada short padded
Max Mara short padded
Lundhags short padded
Swix short ski
Laurel long alpaca
Shearling coat
Max and co navy wool coat
Max and co duffel coat
Brown wool dress coat
Hobbs black wool long jacket
S Oliver black coat
Aquascutum trench coat
Beige trench coat
Parka thin parka
2 x denim jackets
2 x black leather
1 camel leather

24 and counting sure there are more. I keep my wool ones on a rail inside garment bags, some are on the back of the door hanging and that's where I found a moth today. On a polyester coat though so weird.

About 20 here too. Don’t get me started on shoes...

Notcontent · 26/04/2019 21:09

I have quite a few if you include leather jackets, denim jackets, etc. But many have been charity shop purchases or ones I have had for a long time.

To the person who said they have been unable to afford a coat since 2004 - could you not try to pick up a second hand one? You could pick up a good one for less than £10.

outofnothing · 26/04/2019 21:17

Aargh, too many but I spend a lot of times outside so I think they are as important as dresses:

I never wear a coat. I rarely wear a sweater even. Everyone jokes that if I have sleeves on it must be below freezing outside.
