How many coats do you own?

Including leather jackets, denim jackets, mac, winter, summer coats etc.

(Not counting suit jackets tho)

Starting to think I need to thin out, especially since I just saw a moth in one 😮

2 ski jackets
1 light waterproof jacket
1 faux leather
1 denim (that's 19 years old!)
2 blazers

7 isn't too bad. They all have their purpose. Now shoes on the other hand, that's where I get daft....

highheelsandbobblehats · 26/04/2019 19:50

Oh! And the gilet. So 8.

EL8888 · 26/04/2019 19:50

Well over 20. I have a thing about coats and jackets!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2019 19:51
  1. Not including blazers. And could happily have a few more...
blackteasplease · 26/04/2019 19:51

Loads. Can't count. I love a coat. My birthday is November so I often get them with birthday money etc

fblake · 26/04/2019 19:52

🤔 3 I think

friskybivalves · 26/04/2019 19:52

Possibly more than 30. It's bad. I need to join Coats Anonymous.

PositiveVibez · 26/04/2019 19:54

2 main ones. A light cotton trench for nice weather, and a big fluffy winter one.

I also have a couple for going out in (which don't get much of an airing 🤣) , but I wouldn't count them as 'coats', as they are accompaniments to whatever I'm wearing.

Makemeaname · 26/04/2019 19:57
  1. Fairly thin, waterproof, doesn't really fit me. I wear it when it snows. Bought it 2 years ago, before that I hadn't owned any in about a decade.
Fiontar649 · 26/04/2019 19:57

Probably 20? I love a nice coat.

MRex · 26/04/2019 19:59

Are we counting suit jackets? Are we counting fleeces?

Loads anyway. Maybe 7 overcoats (mix of work and non-work, long and short, heavy and mid-thickness), 2 waterproofs, 5 summer coats, 6 suit jackets, 1 ski jacket, 7 fleeces / winter sports jacket etc in different colours... My only defence is that I rarely throw good clothes out but cycle them around so they don't wear out. Some of them are old and still in good condition; at least 4 are over 20 years old and 5 more are at least 15 years old. I had more but I gave about 10 to a charity shop a couple of years ago.

SparklyLeprechaun · 26/04/2019 20:00

5 main ones (2 winter coats, 1 mac, 1 spring, 1 leather), and then some for running, skiing, rain. Plenty of blazers.

frenchonion · 26/04/2019 20:01

Too many!! I have a charity shop coat buying addiction. 20 plus for sure.

SoManyCoats · 26/04/2019 20:01

So many coats! As a PP said I think it's hereditary too.. passed along from the father... my dad also loves coats.

I love coats, just love them. I don't know why. It's part of the outfit. I suit many of them, I guess (not every coat, but many coats). I also suit ballgowns/maxi dresses in a way that I do not suit skinny jeans! Or a lot of shoes. Shoes hold little interest for me, as long as they "go" well enough with the outfit and don't hurt. but I couldn't care less for shoe brands, fancy shoes etc. But I practically have a rail of coats. Not expensive, but all different. They are my fashion-spiritual destiny, they call me from the racks.. I wish I could downsize them as coats take up more storage room and we don't have the biggest house (a terrace) but I have managed to stuff them here and there, including a couple in the baby's wardrobe Blush

Last coat I bought was in about 2004 (pre DC) and finally fell apart in 2012. Not been able to afford one since as have prioritised getting DC's coats. Last year I couldn't even stretch to those.

frenchonion · 26/04/2019 20:02

That's 20 plus coats. Prob about 50 if you include jackets 🙈

Orangecake123 · 26/04/2019 20:02

A winter coat that I got this year. My sister got y hand me down and a blue coat I havent worn for 4 years from my bigger days.

SagelyNodding · 26/04/2019 20:03

6 I think!
Warm puffy coat, smart grey coat, classic long trench, black waterproof coat, leather jacket, denim jacket.
Fairly minimalist!

EdWinchester · 26/04/2019 20:03

I had a clear out over Easter. I reckon I now have 15 coats and 5 jackets.

Sexnotgender · 26/04/2019 20:04

A few...
3 nice leather jackets
One padded gilet
One long padded jacket
One short padded jacket
Oilskin Barbour
Camel cashmere and wool tailored overcoat

SoManyCoats · 26/04/2019 20:04

Oh it's also rare that I sell or charity shop a coat. I love my coats a bit like pets. (sort of). Once I buy one, it's mine for life unless it wears out. If a friend asked to borrow a dress or pair of shoes it's a yes, but my coats are off limits! I would worry too much about them Grin

WeirdPatient · 26/04/2019 20:04

Ummm
1 sparkly new winter coat
1 old zip-broken winter coat
1 rain coat
1 ripped rain coat
1 rain coat my parents bought me "to grow into" (was still too large when I was 9 months pg)
1 fleece lined jacket
1 light weight casual jacket
1 light weight work wear jacket.

1WayOrAnother · 26/04/2019 20:06

At least 12, don't feel so bad about that now I've seen this thread. Maybe I shouldn't have put that gorgeous red one back on the rail in tk Maxx....

opinionminion · 26/04/2019 20:06

54 Grin

BlackType · 26/04/2019 20:06

One wool winter coat. One wool kind-of-interim coat. One linen summer coat. That's it. They were all very expensive, but all serve their particular purpose so have paid for themselves several times over.
