Just that really... the last two episodes have been so slow!

OP posts:
crispysausagerolls · 20/05/2019 16:15

I don’t understand what else people wanted - what would have been better?

Some aspects were futile, some were sad, some were satisfying - very much like in real life!

Was the ending supposed to mean Jon is leaving the wall for good? Or are they just ranging?

YouTheCat · 20/05/2019 20:33

I agree with ShesABelter and Crispy. I really enjoyed it and thought the endings were well fitting and liked the injection of humour at the end.

LaurieMarlow · 20/05/2019 21:42

It was an ending. Maybe that’s enough.

I neither loved nor hated it.

Didn’t foresee Bran the Broken. Very satisfactory endings for Sansa, Arya and Tyrion. Jon’s fate was fitting.

I’d never have believed Greyworm could evoke such strong feelings in me.

The most disappointing bit was Dany’s death. It was underplayed (surprisingly). I think it suffered from the fact that neither Kit nor Emilia are particularly strong actors.

The best bits were the little touches. Brienne writing Jaime’s entry in the book made me well up Sad. I loved the joshing at the end with Bronn and Davos and co.

And that’s it. Shock

LaurieMarlow · 20/05/2019 21:43

ETA Drogon roasting the iron throne was spectacular.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 20/05/2019 21:50

Utter shite in my opinion!

Ohkayyy · 20/05/2019 21:54

I liked Drogon melting the throne. It showed what I think Tyrion (?) said previously about them being smarter than men. I saw him doing it in grief because it's what really killed his mother.

The rest was utter rubbish imo and I'm so disappointed. Bran is the dullest character in the show, his story line has been boring for the entire show.

Justbreathing · 20/05/2019 21:58

They’ve just set it up for 2 at least spin offs. Which is a bore.

awalkintheparka · 20/05/2019 21:59

Loved Drogon melting the throne.

What happens after war? You rebuild.

That being said, I wished there was more magic to it. A spectacular twist. But ultimately, after all those deaths, all the war, what else could have happened. I wanted to see a 20 years later type of thing. Or maybe some dragon eggs. Not enough magic to the ending. I wanted more to be made of Jon being a targareyan

LaurieMarlow · 20/05/2019 21:59

I saw him doing it in grief because it's what really killed his mother.

Ooh nice analysis

onceandneveragain · 20/05/2019 22:09

if you think about it one way, Bran is the most evil character in the show/the one who has best played 'the game.' He has the ability to pretty much see anything that's happened/is happening/may happen in the world, yet for whatever reason failed to warn anyone about anything....thus leading to hundreds of thousands of needless deaths, both during the battle at winterfell and at KL.

Several massacres later, he's king - he 'says' he doesn't want it but then says 'why do you think I came down here?'

Justbreathing · 20/05/2019 22:12

@onceandneveragain
Interesting way of looking at it.
Or that he couldn’t change anything
And that he knew this all needed to happen to have peace.

You could go one way or the other.

YouTheCat · 20/05/2019 22:19

He didn't want it but knew it had to happen for there to be peace. Same as Tyrion didn't want to be Hand again.

Justbreathing · 20/05/2019 22:20

But onceagains theory is much more GOT
So I think I like it! Wink

Justbreathing · 20/05/2019 22:20

Sorry @onceandneveragain

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 20/05/2019 22:35

Well christ. I knew she’d have to die and that it would have to be Jon that did it. She was prepared to sacrifice thousands of innocent souls for her cause whereas Jon wouldn’t have sacrificed one for himself. She didn’t see that coming. She still didn’t manage to look that shocked though. I love EC but she needs to be a bit more expressive.

Bit annoyed that yet again we’ve missed everyone’s reactions to important stuff happening. They actually skipped forwards several weeks. I’m sure they could have shoe horned a bit more detail into some extra episodes. Funerals for Jaime and others that died. A glimpse of the survivors of the city, I assume there were some, Drogon didn’t burn all of it did he?

Loved the tying up of all the characters. Even Gendry was sitting there as a lord. And Tyrion addressed Davos as lord of the armada or something so even he’s been elevated. Whether he wanted it or not.

Poor old Drogon though. His mummy died. He melted that bloody throne that he knew was the cause of all the trouble and then left and took her with him.

I didn’t think it was too bad. Definitely could have been played out over a couple more episodes though, it does feel like it’s been a bit glossed over compared to the intricacies of earlier episodes.

LaurieMarlow · 20/05/2019 23:23

The more I reflect on Jon’s ending the more I like it.

He works his way up to LC of the Night Watch. He becomes King in the North. He dies and is resurrected. He falls in love with a Targaryen Queen and he discovers that he’s the rightful Targaryen heir. He fights and wins lots of wars and defeats the night king.

And where does any of that get him? Precisely nowhere.

He ends up exactly where he started off.

Summerorjustmaybe · 21/05/2019 08:44

Did you all see the water bottle scene?
Shock

LaurieMarlow · 21/05/2019 09:06
Grin

They’ve been properly sloppy this season

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 21/05/2019 20:15

I don't even care about water bottle. Every movie and series has this hoccups.
What I care about is that it didn't feel like I was watching GoT...

Summerorjustmaybe · 21/05/2019 20:18
SweetSummerchild · 21/05/2019 20:24

It’s good to see that they spent a long time thinking about who would represent the major regions in the dragonpit.

Book geeks may like the name of the Ironborn’s actor though...

Or is the new series of GOT a bit shit?
InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 21/05/2019 20:32

@Summerorjustmaybe oops. I meant hiccups. Obviously I didn't mean hoccups which when you get hiccup while trying to say hocus pocus. Grin

M0reGinPlease · 22/05/2019 22:09

I was fully prepared to hate it at worst, be disappointed at best but I actually loved it! Bloody delighted that Sansa is queen in the north. Never saw Bron the Broken coming. Love how it ended with such a totally random bunch of characters together.

The only thing bugging me is Greyworm. I just found he got too big for his boots and wanted him put in his place.

Why did Jon go beyond the wall at the end?

YouTheCat · 22/05/2019 22:19

He went to appease Greyworm who wanted him executed. There was no way they could make him king without the Unsullied attacking their depleted forces. This way they buggered off back across the sea.

Jon was happiest in the North anyway and didn't want to be king.

JAPAB · 08/06/2019 05:09

Bran can't see into the future can he?

How did Sam become a grand maester in a few weeks? Amd didn't he desert the NW, and therefore be wanted for executing?

How do dragons stay airborne with one slow flap every few seconds?

How did Sandor do so well against Gregor? With everyone else he is the Terminator who can one-hit-kill.
