Just that really... the last two episodes have been so slow!

OP posts:

Bran on the iron throne would make no sense to me whatsoever.

Bran becoming a tree on the other hand looks like a viable ending for him Grin

honeybeetheoneandonly · 16/05/2019 09:50

Nobody is invested enough in Bran to have him on the throne. The throne will probably be obsolete by the end of the next episode. Westeros will become a democratic republic! Smile.

M0reGinPlease · 16/05/2019 09:55

Sorry @crispysausagerolls,I keep forgetting they made longer eps this season.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 16/05/2019 10:04

Does anyone else feel (looking back now) it would have been pretty much the same show had neither Bran nor the white walkers been in at all? They made them pretty irrelevant.
The wildlings could have still wanted to come south because a harsh winter was coming, making food supplies scarce north of the wall. That conflict would have remained.

The white walkers were meant to be this big, bad, unbeatable thing but they weren't.(Never even got past Winterfell. The wimps).
Bran was meant to be this clearly significant person to past and present, only to not do anything significant (yet). Nor has it been explained what his powers are even meant to be.... other than a living history book?!

GOT would have been exactly the same without the white walkers or Bran.

Sorry - my bitchy comment at the end was not specifically directed at you!!! I’m just tired of all the complaining; I think people think it’s cool to dislike the season!

Bran as a tree 😂😂😂

I don’t think the white walkers were irrelevant - they have been a menacing presence and driving force for several plot lines. The fear of winter has been there from the beginning.

I was very pleased that the kings landing battle was a one sided easy win actually, as we’d already had the close shave battle with the white walkers, and it allowed the focus to be on dany decimating a City needlessly.

Angrybird123 · 16/05/2019 10:31

Has the iron throne not been melted already?? Surely that would be the thing.. That ultimately there is no throne to win?

crispysausagerolls · 16/05/2019 10:41

Has the iron throne not been melted already??

I did think of this! Is anyone else a little sad at kings landing being gone? It feels so emotional, due to the entire show ending and all the memories there 😢

StarbucksSmarterSister · 16/05/2019 10:56

Killing Robert and Jon Arryn to protect her children and her secret

Didn't Lysa Arryn actually arrange her husband's death at Littlefinger's instigation? And the whole saga starts on a misunderstanding because everyone thinks the Lannisters did it.

Watch the cast reactions to bring interviewed about Season 8. They all look like they're being held hostage.

Peter Dinklage doesn’t! He says it’s brilliant and beautiful and makes you question yourself

motherheroic · 16/05/2019 12:22

@crispysausagerolls

Did we watch the same interview? Here is a 3 minute clip of the cast clearly not impressed with this season. (I watched the Peter Dinklage interview that is at the end of this clip.)

crispysausagerolls · 16/05/2019 12:46

m.youtube.com/watch?v=t5prr_YVSnc

A couple of the same clips - a couple of different ones. Look some actors won’t be happy, eg Emilia Clarke, because her character is clearly going to get iced! I’m holding out until Monday because I think even if is not popular (and which ending would be?) it will surely make some sort of sense in relation to the series as a whole.

motherheroic · 16/05/2019 13:03

If you watch the BTS of each episode D&D don't have a clue (or don't care) about what's going on.

They said that Daenerys 'Kind of forgot bout the iron fleet' even though she mentioned them in the previous episode.

And they said that Sam is the youngest brother. But he is the oldest and that's the entire reason he was forced into the Nights Watch.

Honestly I think that D&D are just desperate to go off and do Star Wars!

IHeartArya · 16/05/2019 14:00

With such an epic tv show & books there will always be some who will not be happy. Dh & I want different people on the iron throne & that's just us!

toomuchtooold · 16/05/2019 15:09

Peter Dinklage in that last interview looked like someone was pointing a gun at him offscreen.

crispysausagerolls · 16/05/2019 16:28

Yes but says similar stuff in another interview where he looks far more relaxed.

George R R Martin told them the ending of the books. They know it. They had to tell him due to the fact he will likely die before finishing; therefore this will be relatively close to how it’s supposed to be, with some natural deviations due to omitted or condensed characters.

QueQueQue · 16/05/2019 19:00

Really hoping we have a wow moment explaining Bran's purpose!

Jon to kill Dany? TPTWP?
gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Azor_Ahai

Then go to live beyond the wall in the true north?

Sansa & Tyrion for the throne?

I've been wrong about everything so far though!

LaurieMarlow · 16/05/2019 19:06

Really hoping we have a wow moment explaining Bran's purpose!

Yeah, that for me would be the difference between relative success and relative failure at this point.

I’m still a little hopeful. He could be used in a number of ways.

Killing Drogon, giving crucial context about the NK/Jon’s purpose, even enigmatically predicting the NK’s return in the closing moments.

His status as the TER needs to be more important than just the big reveal about Jons parents, which Sam had covered anyway.

LaurieMarlow · 16/05/2019 19:08

Jon has to kill Dany right? Would anything else make sense?

QueQueQue · 16/05/2019 19:35

Got to, you're right I can't see any other way. Hoping it's not because she kills Sansa or Arya defending her sister first 😭

M0reGinPlease · 16/05/2019 19:35

Arya to kill Dany.

Jon on the iron throne.

Sansa to rule the North.

Bran to continue to be a fun sponge.

crispysausagerolls · 16/05/2019 19:52

Whoever kills Dany can’t be on the iron throne so I really like some of the theories above!

Bodicea · 16/05/2019 20:40

Could their be some sort of collaborative rule/democracy instated. Maybe Jon will see that even if he is just and good the next generation may not be.

crispysausagerolls · 16/05/2019 21:02

Do people think Dany will be pregnant though?! There seemed to be so much foreshadowing of that in s7, when Jon kept saying how does she know she can’t have any children blah blah “did you ever think the maegi who killed your husband might not be reliable” or something
