After the thread on how much is your mortgage, just wondered what everyone pays on rent each month and which area?

OP posts:

They really look after it so I won’t be putting up the rent as I feel really sorry for them having to rent

What a weird comment to make Hmm

3 bed detached with large garden and drive in Lincs 498 a month. Quiet village and walking distance to school

Clutterbugsmum · 23/04/2019 07:52

We own not rent, but one of the house is a HMO and the rooms rent out at £600 per month in Luton near the airport.

A average 3 bed in this area is £1100 per month. We have notice because people are moving out of north London that the prices of rents and house pricing are still rising.

It's up to about €1,700 now for that same apartment

chocolatelog · 23/04/2019 08:49

£528 pcm for a 4 bed end terraced house. East anglia

TheSheepofWallSt · 23/04/2019 09:01

495 pcm for a two bed detached cottage in West Yorkshire. Grade 2 Listed (part of an old day estate - the cottage was the last bit to be built in late 1700s), huge garden, extra land (fields on 3 sides, driveway on other), and massive rooms.
Rent unlikely to rise/ never going to be sold as owned by v well known land owning family.

Downsides are it’s in a weird place (on the edge of a rough neighbourhood although my house is totally hidden so I feel quite safe, and across the fields next neighbour is a high school), local schools are dreadful and I’m quite isolated so rarely see neighbours etc.

Going to have to move in time for DS to start school, just not sure whether to head back to London, or look for somewhere in York or Skipton where schools are better.

thesheepofwallstreet we used to rent a lovely grade 2 listed cottage in Holmfirth for £475 a month. It was quite similar to how you describe, big rooms, hidden. I adored it and to this day, despite being our smallest house, it is the house I loved the most and have the happiest memories of!

Losingthechubrub · 23/04/2019 09:07

Large, two-bed, town centre flat in East Lancs - £350. It's below market rent for the area, decent sized rooms, loads of storage, I've really lucked out tbh

Stoptheworldandmelt · 23/04/2019 10:05

I was renting for £1225 for a two bed flat in Enfield, right by the train station. Now I pay around £600 (in Yuan) for a penthouse, three bed, duplex 60 floors up in a Chinese city. The building comes with a guarantee that nothing will be built at my height above a certain distance.

Andanotherthingg · 23/04/2019 19:30

bian I payed 260 for a 1 bed queyside flat about 6 years ago.
HA and in a block but the views were magical 😍

bamb00 · 23/04/2019 19:55

We don't rent, but pay £550 pm mortgage, and a friend 2 doors down rents an identical house and pays £1500. 4 bed 3 storey townhouses in the costwolds.

Annietheacrobat · 23/04/2019 20:02

SE commuter town. We bought a couple of years ago but were paying £1550 pcm for a 3 bed semi. I think it is now being let for closer to £1700.
