After the thread on how much is your mortgage, just wondered what everyone pays on rent each month and which area?

OP posts:

@thegreylady wow what a great contribution to the thread, your post was so useful... Hmm

£600 per month for a room in a shared two bed flat. South East (Kent).

Frequency · 22/04/2019 18:29

£385 per four weekly. Modest 3 bed semi with a modest front and back garden in NE England. HA, so in major need of renovation. I've been here a year and am still saving for plastering/carpets etc.

WinterRose92 · 22/04/2019 18:29

South West, 2 bed maisonette - £365 a month.

sideorderofchips · 22/04/2019 18:31

£1405 for three bed semi

Jersey social housing

BarryTheKestrel · 22/04/2019 18:35

£400PCM 3 bed terrace in Devon. Equivalent houses in the same road are rented for £600-800pcm however we rent from family for the cost of mortgage and insurance so get an absolute steal. It's an amazing place to live and we would be in a much smaller property in a significantly worse part of the city within our budget.

PickAChew · 22/04/2019 18:36

We don't rent, thankfully, as it's very expensive in our northeast university city. The slightly smaller and rather damp version of our 3 bed semi, a few doors down, was up for rent for £950, last year.

catgirl1976 · 22/04/2019 18:36

£800 for a 4 bed house. Well below market rate - should be more like £1,100 but been here a while and we are good tenants so LL (so far) has not put rent up.

North West

Booboo5 · 22/04/2019 18:38

Sheffield
Council 2 bed ground floor flat
Every 4 weeks £330

BoswellsBollocks · 22/04/2019 18:39

£800 pcm for a 3 bed detached with a garage in Shropshire.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 22/04/2019 18:41

£850 - 3 bed 2 bathroom terrace house on new housing development about 5 miles outside of large city, South East. Has a good garden.

I miss my £525 two bed cottage though Grin

gwenneh · 22/04/2019 18:41

We've expatriated, but the last place we rented (3 years ago now) was £1600 for a 3 bed townhouse in zone 5.

Which was lovely right until I broke my leg and all of a sudden all of those stairs really weren't as nice.

jaseyraex · 22/04/2019 18:49

£650pcm for a 3 bed semi detached house in north west Glasgow with a decent front and back garden.

PorpentinaScamander · 22/04/2019 19:05

£795 for a 2 bed terrace. Home counties. Its massively under market rent though.

Lyricallie · 22/04/2019 19:08

525pm between my fiance and I in the Highlands for a 2 bedroom semi-detached house with garden and decking out the back. 20 minute drive to work.

snarfblatt · 22/04/2019 19:14

£1100 for a 2 bed flat in SE London, paying under market value (should be £1200-1300). Left (trendy) NE London 6 years ago and our 1 bed was rented out for £1350 to the next tenants!

PutyourtoponTrevor · 22/04/2019 19:19

£800 for a big 3 bedroom house with massive garden in Urmston, south Manchester. Quite a low rent for the area and they accepted the dog

TurquoiseDress · 22/04/2019 19:20

£1250 for 2 bed terrace in SE London zone 5- it's me, DH, DC1 aged 5 and baby

We rent from a friend so I think it's under the market rate, from what I see locally

TurquoiseDress · 22/04/2019 19:22

To add- we have a tiny garden but just grateful for some outside space even if it's just patio and a patch of grass

If we wanted to buy this property or similar, the going rate for a 2 bed terrace round here is over £500k!

We definitely cannot afford that

Rach182 · 22/04/2019 19:23

@Turnedouttoes less than £700 for a room in zone 1 is really goodprice.

£1600 for 3 bed semi in zone 6 (south east)

Hungrymamabear · 22/04/2019 19:23

Room in west London I was paying £850 bills included. Then 1bed flat in west London i paid £1300. 2bed flat in Kent £650, 2bed house in Kent £735

francienolan · 22/04/2019 19:32

Privately rented 1 bedroom flat in a city centre location, £675 per month. Southeast area.

Tunnocks34 · 22/04/2019 19:36

We rented until last year. We paid 800pcm for a large, 3 bed detached house. All double bedrooms, three bathrooms. That was in manchester.

HappyMom1970 · 22/04/2019 19:39

We have bought but our mortgage is £475 per month over 25 years. Semi-detached. But as others have said, it depends on what area and location.

HappyMom1970 · 22/04/2019 19:40

Should have also said it's a two bedroom, 1 bathroom, lounge and kitchen. Nothing fancy

wolfmom · 22/04/2019 19:41

NW £550 for 3 bed terrace
