After the thread on how much is your mortgage, just wondered what everyone pays on rent each month and which area?

OP posts:

I bought a house in December, but previous to that we paid £995 for a 2 bed 2 bath in northern quarter, Manchester

Bbang · 22/04/2019 17:04

£675 pcm in Sheffield for a 3 bed end of terrace.

It’s not worth £675 at all but realistically those are the kind of prices all the houses are in this area, it’s not a naice area but it’s better than most around here.

I bid on the council and housing associations every week but I’m yet to get anywhere even after four years of constant bidding, hopefully soon.

I haven’t lived in a rented place since 1967 and I can’t remember what the rent was!

Poivrotte · 22/04/2019 17:15

2200 for a 3 bedroom - Fulham

ProfessorofPerspective · 22/04/2019 17:20

£1500 for a four bed period house in the south west with no neighbours and about 5 acres of outdoors, more of a meadow than a garden!

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 22/04/2019 17:20

Wokingham, Berkshire. £1100 for a 3bed semi. 2 good size doubles but tiny 3rd bedroom.

Believe it or not that’s cheap for the area. I moved in almost 7 years ago and now houses on the street and surrounding streets are about £1300. Usually have nicer kitchens though but hard to find a place to rent that will accept a dog.

Have been on the council list for 17 years and have no idea where we are. We don’t have a bidding system here.

BettaSplenden · 22/04/2019 17:22

750 3 bed semi. Midlands

£795 2 bed ground floor flat very large with garden in Essex seaside town

bratzilla · 22/04/2019 17:36

I’m lucky enough to be in a council property so my rent is £400 pcm for a 2 bed house.

Binting · 22/04/2019 17:38

£316 pm for a 2-bed housing association flat in NW. I appreciate it every day as having a cheap rent has enabled me to reduce my working hours (and I’m allowed pets)

KittyVonCatsworth · 22/04/2019 17:41

£650 2 bed Victorian end terrace in Wales. House prices have rocketed here as we're competing against people from Bristol. Houses have increased as have costs to buy which has pushed the rental market through the roof. Still cheaper than Cardiff, which is where I'd prefer to be.

shivermetimbers77 · 22/04/2019 17:43

£1540 for a 2 bed garden flat in Chiswick, West London

MaybeitsMaybelline · 22/04/2019 17:44

I own but I’ll answer for DD. £390, nice area of Leeds, one bedroom in a six bed house share. Communal living room, kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms.

Plus sixth of all bills.

jay55 · 22/04/2019 17:52

NorthEndGal · 22/04/2019 17:58

ooooohbetty · 22/04/2019 18:02

Am I the only person who doesn't know what people from London are talking about when they talk about zones 1,2,3 etc. Could you just give us the area please. Smile

SnakeRattleRoll · 22/04/2019 18:05

1400 Essex 3 bed 2 wc semi

Dillydallyingthrough · 22/04/2019 18:13

Zone 3 London, 2 bed terrace with a tiny garden - £1500 pcm

Stripyseagulls · 22/04/2019 18:19

Is this a ‘omg I can’t believe how much you poor renters pay when our mortgage is £3.50 a month for a 5 bed house’ thread?! 🙄

motherheroic · 22/04/2019 18:20

@Stripyseagulls Does it look like it.

romany4 · 22/04/2019 18:23

£550.
2 bed semi, West Yorkshire

Asta19 · 22/04/2019 18:23

Zone 2 London. 4 bed Victorian terrace, a bit under £700 p/m (HA).
They’ve actually been putting my rent down every year for the past few years. I now pay £40 a month less than I did when I moved in 12 years ago!

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 22/04/2019 18:25

I own my house but you can rent the same kind of house in the area for anywhere between 800-900pm (3 bed terrace on a new ish build estate in the NW).

I'm considering moving down to London and have been looking at clapham where I'd be looking at £1500pm for a 1 bed flat.
