After the thread on how much is your mortgage, just wondered what everyone pays on rent each month and which area?

@mummyofdaughters Christ almighty!!! That's a lot of money 😱

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 22/04/2019 22:30

£94.06 I think (dh pays it and it's recently gone down by about a pound). Housing Association 3 bed semi with large garden in a decentish area on a mixed ownership estate in an ex-mining village in Yorkshire.

540 pcm, two bedroom apartment with own entrance, small back garden and parking for two cars off street. 30 minute walk from city centre and 15 minute bus. Belfast. Grew up in south of England (to Irish parents) and the cost of living here is so much more manageable.

makingmiracles · 22/04/2019 22:46

@keptthebeaches surely that’s weekly?

SW, 2b fff £380 pcm (HA) although it’s a bit galling that they rent out their three bed houses for a mere £3-5 a week more Hmm but heyho, beggars can’t be choosers and I always thank my lucky stars I wasn’t at the mercy of housing in London where you could be on the housing list 15 years and end up 27 floors up in a tower lock with no outside space!

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 22/04/2019 22:53

@makingmiracles yes sorry, it's weekly! I always think of it weekly because we are charged and pay for it each week!

pinkoneblueone · 22/04/2019 22:57

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 22/04/2019 23:33

What IS the point of this thread? It proves that people pay different amounts of rent depending on the size and location of what they're renting. If you were a little bit dim and didn't know this you could rapidly discover it from Rightmove!

TurquoiseDress · 23/04/2019 00:06

I'm finding this thread fascinating, seeing the vastly different amounts of rent that other people pay and doing the mental arithmetic of how much we could improve our disposable income by moving to other parts of the country!

Also, I'm just a rather nosy person

I pay £250 a month for two bed semi detached house with garden and garage in NE, but I rent from my parents. We're about 10 minutes from the city center. Next door (same footprint but dated decor) is rented privately for £650 a month. I know we are very lucky!

aLilNonnyMouse · 23/04/2019 00:39

£500 for a 3 bedroom ground floor flat in Merseyside.

Andanotherthingg · 23/04/2019 01:41

Ce7913 · 23/04/2019 02:20

AUD$3050 (£1670/month) for a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Rach182 · 23/04/2019 02:33

@Ce7913 I've heard Sydney and Melbourne are super expensive too! At least you get sunshine though

Skala123 · 23/04/2019 02:44

$7000 pcm four bed house East coast USA

Brilliantidiot · 23/04/2019 03:23

£360 every 4 weeks, 3 bed with fairly large garden. HA property but it's not that much lower than market in my village, we don't even have a shop and crappy public transport so no one wants to live there!

TooBusyHavingFun · 23/04/2019 06:19

£600 for a 2 bed victorian conversion in zone 4, London (HA). Very dated internally but it's in a very nice leafy private street so I am very lucky.

TheLazyDuchess · 23/04/2019 06:38

2 bed council house, tiny kitchen and bathroom, decent size back garden, not in England, full rent (and rates), about £350 per month. My sister inherited a relatives house, lives half a mile away, and her home owner rates are about £600 a year (about £500 more a year than my rates).

CaravanHero · 23/04/2019 06:46

£700 pcm - tiny 3 bed house but backing onto a park and in a lovely village in S Wales. We pay for the loacation...the rent would be nearly halved on the other side of town.

Mummadeeze · 23/04/2019 06:48

I pay £1400 pcm for a one bed flat in South West London for 3 of us. Our DD has the bedroom and we sleep in the sitting room. It is a lovely flat and I thought it was fairly good value until I read this thread!
