My first CF thread 😱

Hi all!

I've read lots about cfers on here but now I think I actually have one?! Or maybe the heat and being 7 months pregnant is making me go mad ....

Anyway! Just had garden done last weekend so I'm enjoying it lots now it's hot :-) ddog is also enjoying the new sprinkler! Today we planned on having a bbq at about 3/4 with some family members coming round. Dh was just outside setting it all up (getting bbq out cleaning it etc).

Ndn (who I know enough to say hi to/take parcels in but that's about it) has just messaged me on fb to ask if we are having a bbq. I assumed she was asking because of washing or something so I said yes at about 3. She then replied asking if she could use it too as there garden is a state and they have no bbq? I said they were welcome to join us if she liked (they have always seemed nice and I'm up for making new friends!). Anyway she didn't respond at first but now she's messaged saying no thank you they are going to an Easter egg hunt later but if they could use it before they go at about 2 that would be great????

What on Earth?! I've just replied saying I don't think that will work for us (fave mumsnet phrase!) 😂 but Aibu to think she's a cf? Or am I just not being neighbourly?

She has seen it and is still active 5 mins later so possibly I won't be getting a reply! I'm glad it's not me going nuts haha maybe the heat has got to her!

I wouldn't care as much if she had just wanted to chuck on a few chicken breasts or sausages while it was still hot but I get the impression if they are going out at two she wanted us to light it early to suit their plans 😳🧐

No, she's definitely a CF! You've pretty much ruined this as a CF thread before you've started though OP by being admirably resistant to her CFery, you really should have done at least some hand wringing about sticking up for yourself first Grin Well done though, sounds like you've closed her down and you will now be alert for any further signs of CF should she try again Star

@Aimily tbh I feel a right tit inviting her round 😳 thought it could be a way of getting to know the neighbours (we haven't been here long!)

Hahaha, she just can't be arsed to clean the grill. Which is fair, I often can't either ----so I get DH to do it instead.

WTF? She might turn out to be one of those I've read about on MN who will pop over to use the bbq when you're out. Or you'll come home unexpectedly to find her having a glass of wine and watching your sky tv in your sitting room.

Argh! Just seen her dh is now talking to mine over the fence!!! God I hope dh doesn't say they can use it, he is not one for confrontation at all and would probably give them the whole bbq if asked 🙈🙈🙈

Dh has just come in and informed me they were just chatting about the work we have had done in the garden so no mention of using the bbq thank goodness! Although ndn dh did say we should do drinks one night, not sure I could face her now without laughing!
