Hi all!

I've read lots about cfers on here but now I think I actually have one?! Or maybe the heat and being 7 months pregnant is making me go mad ....

Anyway! Just had garden done last weekend so I'm enjoying it lots now it's hot :-) ddog is also enjoying the new sprinkler! Today we planned on having a bbq at about 3/4 with some family members coming round. Dh was just outside setting it all up (getting bbq out cleaning it etc).

Ndn (who I know enough to say hi to/take parcels in but that's about it) has just messaged me on fb to ask if we are having a bbq. I assumed she was asking because of washing or something so I said yes at about 3. She then replied asking if she could use it too as there garden is a state and they have no bbq? I said they were welcome to join us if she liked (they have always seemed nice and I'm up for making new friends!). Anyway she didn't respond at first but now she's messaged saying no thank you they are going to an Easter egg hunt later but if they could use it before they go at about 2 that would be great????

What on Earth?! I've just replied saying I don't think that will work for us (fave mumsnet phrase!) 😂 but Aibu to think she's a cf? Or am I just not being neighbourly?

This thread is brilliant

livefornaps · 21/04/2019 16:09

Hahaha amazing

Oldbutstillgotit · 21/04/2019 16:11

@offtobedhampton. I told her to use her own garden but she was a real CF , couldn’t see the problem and other neighbours said she continued doing it. She also helped herself to flowers ! Was glad to move away .

OffToBedhampton · 21/04/2019 16:12

(also our back NDN invited us over theirs as much as we invited them over ours, so it was fairly even except the trampoline!)

OffToBedhampton · 21/04/2019 16:13

@Oldbutstillgotit

Well she sounds an awful NDN CF!! Glad you moved away as I'd be fuming at that!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/04/2019 16:18

She wasn’t the slightest bit embarrassed, said our garden was much nicer than hers and she didn’t have a lounger !

You couldn't make it up . . . .

user1498572889 · 21/04/2019 16:22

😂😂

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/04/2019 16:22

Just read your other posts Old - I think I would have been tempted to go round to hers and just sit about, leaving empty guiness bottles prosecco bottles in her garden.

What a cow!

(Why is it all the worst insults - cow, bitch, c* - are related to females?)

I'm changing my insult - what a SCROTE!!!

PotterHead1985 · 21/04/2019 16:29

I wish I had a bbq and a decent garden to sit it.
Several problems though.
Small garden.
I'm poor and it'd need laying with something.
The sun is round there in the morning only.
I might buy a bbq tho!!!

YoThePussy · 21/04/2019 16:36

How’s the BBQ going OP? Have you eaten all the food yet and drunk everything? Bet the CFers turn up empty handed at 5.55pm.

MitziTheTabbyIsMyOverlord · 21/04/2019 16:40

BBQziller 😂😂😂

Flyinga · 21/04/2019 16:47

Are they Antipodean by any chance?

It's quite common for Aussies/Kiwis/Tongans etc. to bring out the barby and have a BYOB type set-up.

viques · 21/04/2019 16:59

Admit I haven't read through the whole thread but need to chip in with my story about a friend of a friend whose cheeky neighbours popped round for a drink one year just before Christmas and casually asked what time friend of friend was planning to eat their Christmas lunch, became they ,cheeky neighbours ,were hoping to borrow their dining table for their own Christmas lunch but of course were quite happy to plan their lunch around friend of friends timing!

Romax · 21/04/2019 17:09

Why is it all the worst insults - cow, bitch, c - are related to females*
But generally they are aimed at females (c*nt aside) so makes sense they are related to females.

Whereas dick, prick, wanker - generally aimed at men, so related to med

Romax · 21/04/2019 17:11

men

KateyKube · 21/04/2019 17:21

Do people not lock their gardens? Mine has padlocked gates and 6ft fences. Woe betide anyone who thinks they can borrow my stuff!

VampireSlayer19 · 21/04/2019 18:26

Soooo it’s after 6 any sign of CFs?

LucyAutumn · 21/04/2019 18:48

Hope you've got some news for us OP... Grin

ahtellthee · 21/04/2019 19:11

Oooohhhh any sign?

Donotunderstandmyhouse · 21/04/2019 19:26

Hello! Soooo ndn has gone but family are still here! (Yes I'm in the toilet again 🙈)

Arrived at about 6 so well done whoever called that haha we had left some cooked burgers and a few sausages but bbq was pretty much too cold to cook anything else on.

She brought her dh and their daughters (I think about 11 and the other is a baby) and (I was excited to tell you this!) her two nephews! Haha! I apologised (🤦🏻‍♀️) and offered my meagre leftovers to be asked if we had any chicken or (by her eldest dd) if we had any vegetarian kebabs?! My dm actually laughed out loud at that. Ndn just looked unabashed and kept picking the napkins off the plates on the table as if she expected to find a huge feast hidden underneath!

Anyway they ate and pretty swiftly left.

I don't think we will be best pals as I got a message about ten mins after they'd gone saying sorry they had dashed off but the kids were hungry as they hadn't had a big lunch to prepare for the bbq so hadn't had enough to eat?!

I have not replied 😂 I do not think we will be becoming maternity pals 🧐

They are cf indeed op! This is such a delicious thread Grin

Donotunderstandmyhouse · 21/04/2019 19:28

I am laughing out loud at some of these pp 😂 maybe I have the lounge lady as my ndn now??

I've had to explain to my family that I'm on here as otherwise they were going to think I had some form of bowel issue. It has begun a huge chat on if you could actually fall out of a skylight or not 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Raspberrytruffle · 21/04/2019 19:29

They actually sound like sponges op too , brass neck !

Raspberrytruffle · 21/04/2019 19:30

The next time cf neighbor's hint at coming over to your bbq tell them to bring food and not to invite their whole family Wine

livefornaps · 21/04/2019 19:30

I am flabbergasted!!!
