Hi all!

I've read lots about cfers on here but now I think I actually have one?! Or maybe the heat and being 7 months pregnant is making me go mad ....

Anyway! Just had garden done last weekend so I'm enjoying it lots now it's hot :-) ddog is also enjoying the new sprinkler! Today we planned on having a bbq at about 3/4 with some family members coming round. Dh was just outside setting it all up (getting bbq out cleaning it etc).

Ndn (who I know enough to say hi to/take parcels in but that's about it) has just messaged me on fb to ask if we are having a bbq. I assumed she was asking because of washing or something so I said yes at about 3. She then replied asking if she could use it too as there garden is a state and they have no bbq? I said they were welcome to join us if she liked (they have always seemed nice and I'm up for making new friends!). Anyway she didn't respond at first but now she's messaged saying no thank you they are going to an Easter egg hunt later but if they could use it before they go at about 2 that would be great????

What on Earth?! I've just replied saying I don't think that will work for us (fave mumsnet phrase!) 😂 but Aibu to think she's a cf? Or am I just not being neighbourly?

*TheGodmotherl wondered that. Please say you didn't give them anything CFers and probably their parents behind it.

TheGodmother · 26/04/2019 16:55

@DietriotukMN did you give them one?

I love a veggie kebab with halloumi too. Gotta eat the halloumi quick though or it turns into firelighters.

OP, maybe NdN has face blindness, doesn't realise that her old friends have moved, and thinks you're them. Yeah that's probably it.

Send her the link for where you got your BBQ from Grin

Vegetarian kebabs with halumi are very good.

YABU about vegetable kebabs though. Grin

They are absolutely lush and one of my favourite things to cook on a BBQ.

For what it's worth I also thought Aimily thought you were going to fall out of the skylight. 😂

This is excellent! Definitely a CF!! How rude of her!!! Tbh one of the houses next to mine has been developed into flats, and over the Easter weekend we had 3 bbq's. One of the children from one of the flats on the 2nd day must have seen us out of their window and rocked up with perfect timing asking for a sausage and burger 😂😂. Dont ask dont get I guess!

Hi all!

Sorry I wasn't meaning to ignore everyone I've just had a mad few days 🙈

First I came home to ndn in our pool and then dh caught her dh in our shed!

Haha no I jest! I definitely do not have a pool 😩

Unfortunately this is a thoroughly boring update as I've heard nothing from her since last posted! I have seen her dh to wave to but that's it!

I have found out from other ndn (who is lovely and made me a very nice cake yesterday!) that they were very good friends with the people who lived here before us.

It's a bit confusing but while we have just moved into this house dh has owned it for a while (inherited) and used to rent it out so they are our old tenants. They are not cf but were quite odd so maybe suit ndn! 😂

I hope your garden is secure and/or you have a locked shed or something to store your BBQ in. Something tells me you might come home one day to find your CF neighbours in your garden enjoying your BBQ!

I've just read the whole hilarious thread. I was howling at vegetarian kebab! Fantastic thread OP, you sound wonderful. This was even funnier than the curious missing ironing board thread.

You'll have to get a paddling pool out for your Dn. Think of the inventive ways they can invite themselves round then.

What a great thread! I’m sure this is a pretty tame start to the level of CF this complete loon is capable of so do please keep us updated in your highly amusing, engaging way OP. Enjoy your maternity leave and best of luck xx

I'd be very tempted to reply, if only to make your boundaries clear. How about something like:

"Haha! Yes, I must admit, we weren't really prepared for so many late arrivals! We'll have to come to yours next time - you can show us how it's done."

(I wouldn't ever go to theirs.)

Loved this thread and Flowers for the pregnancy pain - been there and it sucks. Nothing like a bbq drama to ease the pain!
