To despise of my husbands cat and wish it wouldn’t come back home

Luc187 · 16/04/2019 09:39

I HATE my husbands cat. He purchased the cat just as we got together 10 years ago, in a house he owned by himself so I didn’t have a say. I hated her from then.

Fast forward we now live in a joint house that I love to bits and I find it DISGUSTING the cat has weed twice in the last week. In the past she’s pissed in my handbag, on our spare bed, on my jeans. I come downstairs for breakfast and smell CAT. PISS. She keeps bringing beheaded mice that bloodstain our rug. It’s vile. I never signed up for this, I didn’t spend all this money on a house to be subjected to this.

We plan on having children, I cannot tolerate this disgust around a child. It’s vile, she always projectile vomits too in the utility room.

I’ve had enough, is it reasonable to want her sent to a cats home or something?

Jenniferyellowcat Thank goodness people like you exist. I can't understand people with an attitude that says when an animal becomes inconvenient, euthanise it. Awful.

Sakura7 · 16/04/2019 16:32

Jenniferyellowcat

Well done for saving the cat and giving him a chance at a good life. Some of the posts here are shocking, it's a shame there aren't more people like you around.

AuntieCJ · 16/04/2019 16:35

Very odd to call people 'cat loons', almost as odd as suggesting putting cats in a cage.

My choice would be to put it to sleep if it doesn't stop peeing but maybe OP is reluctant to do that. That's why I suggested a cage. That way the pee is confined to one spot when she's out. I have cat owning friends who do exactly that.

Sakura7 · 16/04/2019 16:42

AuntieCJ - It's quite clear you don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about here. Other posters have given good advice on how this issue can be resolved, yet you jump straight to "kill it" or "lock it in a cage."

Are you always this callous or do you reserve your cruelty for animals?

BertrandRussell · 16/04/2019 16:42

If the choice is PTS or a cage, then PTS.

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 16/04/2019 16:43

Yikes, the penalty for unauthorised widdling is death or transportation? Woe to be a cat in these times!

#TeamCat

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 16/04/2019 16:43

Sorry, death, imprisonment or deportation.

Sakura7 · 16/04/2019 16:44

If the choice is PTS or a cage, then PTS.

Or, you know, find out what's wrong with the cat and resolve the issue. Starting by bringing it to the vet.

Jesus fucking wept.

SequinsDress · 16/04/2019 16:45

@IceRebel @Sakua7 - I wasn't serious!!! Apologies if that wasn't clear. Well except the bit about not getting into a relationship with a cat owner, that IS a mistake IMO (or would be for me as I'm "not a cat person" and do find the idea of sharing a living space with one quite unpleasant). "Losing" a cat on purpose would be seriously crossing a line though, I thought any sane person would be able to see that wasn't serious.

The OP clearly has issues. But I hope she can find a way to cope with the cat. There are some helpful suggestions to mediate some of the more unpleasant behaviour on this thread, which hopefully she can flag to her husband. Although even I as a non-cat-lover am a bit agog at people suggesting it should be PTS without a genuine medical indicator.

JustDanceAddict · 16/04/2019 16:46

That’s not normal for cats - the pissing and vomiting. It needs to see a vet. Plus cats wee when they’re scared/upset so your attitude prob doesn’t help tbh.
Most cats hunt to some degree. Maybe you can not have a cat flap as this does stop unwanted dead things being brought in.,

BertrandRussell · 16/04/2019 16:47

“f the choice is PTS or a cage, then PTS.

Or, you know, find out what's wrong with the cat and resolve the issue. Starting by bringing it to the vet”
As I have said at least once.
But IF the choice is between PTS or a cafe ONCE the other options have been exhausted THEN PTS.

EatingElephantsisCF · 16/04/2019 16:51

Take to vet and get checked out as previous people have said.
You do not have children yet ? OMG ! Just wait .

QuimReaper · 16/04/2019 16:51

Sakura she said IF the choice is between a cage and being PTS, i.e. IF THERE IS no other way to resolve the issue.

IceRebel · 16/04/2019 16:52

I thought any sane person would be able to see that wasn't serious.

You have seen some of the comments on this thread

I’d end up poisoning the bugger
keep it in a cage

Sakura7 · 16/04/2019 16:56

Yes Quim and I'm pointing out that it's unlikely that those would be the only two choices.

Sakura7 · 16/04/2019 16:59

SequinsDress

People do these things all the time, and you can see some of the other "suggestions" on here, so unfortunately it's not clear that you were joking. But I'm glad you were.

BertrandRussell · 16/04/2019 17:17

“Yes Quim and I'm pointing out that it's unlikely that those would be the only two choices.”

So if there is no medical or psychological reason that can be cured for the peeing, which there might well not be, what is your suggestion?

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 16/04/2019 17:22

It might be it has cystitis issues. I suggest you get an opinion from the vet and some treatment. I understand how frustrating it is but try not to take it out on the cat or you'll make it worse.

onecardshort · 16/04/2019 17:23

The fouling in the house is a sign of a very unhappy cat and if she is murdering and eating various animals it could be a sign of something more serious.

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 16/04/2019 17:51

I cannot believe some of these replies Shock

OP hasn't divulged pertinent info such as whether she has regularly cleaned litter trays indoors (minimum of 2), or if the cat is speyed.

There could be many reasons for the behaviour, and it should never be "lose it", "cage it", "PTS" or "poison it" as a solution Hmm

BertrandRussell · 16/04/2019 18:03

“if she is murdering and eating various animals it could be a sign of something more serious.”

Hunting (not “murdering” ffs!) is perfectly normal cat behaviour!

Why hasn't your DH taken the cat to the vet? And why isn't he the one cleaning up the wee/vomit etc.?

MrMeSeeks · 16/04/2019 18:21

you were subjected to living with a pet rat or snake or spider or some other kind of animal that you felt uncomfortable around how would you feel.
I wouldn't hve gotten into a relationship with a person who had a pet i detested and then demanded he get rid of it.
Take the cat to the veg and see whats wrong.
He had this cat before he met you
