To ask what's your 'go too' takeaway from the chipper?

Following on from the thread where the poster asked if she should get a takeaway from the chipper in a Friday, what's your usual go too takeaway?

Either battered sausage or a quarter pounder with cheese for me, sometimes with a portion of onion rings, except for Supermacs (Irish chipper) when it'll always be a chicken fillet sandwich.

ALWAYS a garlic and cheese chip, regardless of what chipper I go to. I think that might be just an Irish thing though? Not quite sure.

I have halloumi fritter in a batch, usually with a scallop and curry sauce, share a portion of chips with the husband.

I love a chip cob! But had to lose that from my vocab once I left the Midlands.

Small cod and chips. Maybe a pineapple fritter. Salt and loads of vinegar but for truly epic f&c, use balsamic vinegar mmmmmmmm......

Small fish, chips, mushy pea's and scraps. Must have scraps. Eaten with two rounds of bread and butter, make a chip butty with one slice and a fish butty with the other, washed down with a mug of tea.
Heaven on a polystyrene tray!

April241, is that the place that does battered smoked fish?

iklboo · 17/04/2019 16:47

Chip barm here (Manchester)

Our chippy doesn't delover so is a rare treat as we only have takeaway when something stops me cooking.
Our local delivery does a 'mega kebab box' which has all the different kebab meats, a box of salad, pitta breads and sauces. I swap out the bottle of drink for a portion of chips and it feeds 4 people with leftovers for sandwiches next day. Fantastic value compared to the chip shop.

Got to be a fish supper, always battered haddock. I am in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

They were voted in the top ten independent fast food chains in the world.

^^

Now this is why I read MN!

Supermacs is awful!! I am Irish, not living there at the moment.
We call it the chipper!
Best chips are from Italian traditional fish & chip shops.
Lennox's in Cork are good.
Leo Burdock's in Dublin
Dino's in Kinsale
All excellent places

I get a fish supper - battered haddock or hake (try not to get cod coz of over fishing) with chips and peas and LOADS of salt and vinegar. Amazing! A can of rock shandy to drink

lillymunster · 17/04/2019 17:23

If any fellow MNetters can suggest a particularly good chippy in the East Midlands I would be really grateful - more than happy to take a scenic detour on my way home from work to go to it!

SequinsDress · 17/04/2019 17:24

Haddock, chips, mushy peas, and a can on Dandelion and Burdock.

Or plain sausage, fishcake, and chips.

Ooh, I really fancy a chippy tea now!

April241 · 17/04/2019 18:18

drcoconut ooh I'm not sure, they don't have anything in the heaters like most chippies I go to, they make it as you order. The batter is super thin and crispy, hardly any grease. It's amazing!!! It's up the wee side street across from the pub with the metal trees outside.

We go to Pitlochry for a wee break, think we've been 3 times now and always go to that chippy.
