I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

The triple irony (not that anyone could possibly know what that is) of people rudely telling the OP that she was rude Grin

AutumnNymph · 09/04/2019 09:52

Aah @M4j4 didn’t realise OP had fled.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 09/04/2019 10:27

I've just read the first few pages again pages again . And again to all those wanting to stick up for the op.

The first few replies are err what have you found offensive about that? Type replies. Genuine we're a bit confused but explain a little more about why your upset.

Then OP comes back and says its over the wording to which people are very gentle and go oh we see, but you've mistaken what she means. One even reply even said explained the language. So the op could see why she'd jumped to the wrong conclusion.

On the first 2 or three pages there was the odd omg how badly have you got this wrong. But mostly it was ah op honest mistake contact the buyer and ask her to re order saying youd cancelled the order by mistake.

Instead of coming on at thaf point and saying something like wax said and going oh no i feel a bit silly now, i'll get back to the buyer. The thread wasnt going her way ajd deregistered

Then sone obe came in calling the buyer snobby, and telling us that she hated harry potter because some one had pointed put gollums spect patterns werent maybe what youd expect and some people have a different way of writing.

Then people came in telling every one that it wasnt fair to humilate the poor op and laugh at her mistake so people were pointing out back that the ops intention in starting this thread was to humilate the student and get every one to laugh at her

ravenmum · 09/04/2019 10:56

The bit about Gollum was funny as someone reacted by saying that they didn't even like Harry Potter - when Gollum has nothing to do with Harry Potter whatsoever.

Personally I think the customer has a far more normal way of writing than many of the people commenting on the thread :)

ChicCroissant · 09/04/2019 11:16

Cancelling the username does rather go with cancelling the order.

The irony for me was that she took the message to say that she was (in her words) 'too stupid to post her item' - and that is what happened, she didn't post her item, talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy!

But yes, the OP's intention was to humiliate her customer not herself. That backfired badly.

How can you tell the OP has de-registered rather than just hidden the thread and name changed?

HBStowe · 09/04/2019 13:18

I think this has rather been a pile on, which is a shame.

It was a confusingly worded message but I think there’s a useful lesson that any person can take from a situation like this - most people (contrary to what AIBU would lead you to believe) aren’t arseholes, and life is easier if you work from the assumption that people aren’t being deliberately rude or unkind until you have good reason to think otherwise.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/04/2019 18:43

I don't think it's a pile on at all by Aibu standards. Most people have been very good humoured and far less arsey than the OP. If she had had the guts to come back and admit her mistake, lots of people would probably sympathise.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/04/2019 18:50

Indeed! I am the most thrawn cow I know and I'd have admitted i'd been a pillock after the first few posts!

M4J4 · 10/04/2019 10:28

@SoupDragon

All of her posts have been deleted.

Same, I’ve been guilty of skim reading things and seeing only what I think I’ve seen. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Totally agree.

17 pages to find out that the OP hadn’t come back. Booooo 😂 Cheer up OP if you’re reading this, it’s not the end of the world and if she’s doing a Masters then hopefully she’ll be bright enough to accept that people do make mistakes.
