I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

OP posts:
Brilliantidiot · 08/04/2019 17:47

Oh my this thread went nuts! I don't think the OP will be back, must feel mortified.
Though don't necessarily agree with 'so what if the customer was being rude' I think that we need to be speaking up when customers are just plain rude, because otherwise they think it's fine. You're paying for an item or a service, not to be rude to someone. If more people were refused service because of their attitude towards the staff, then people would realise it's not acceptable. My boss has recently done done customer facing work after years being closeted in an office, he gets better treatment than we do because he is the manager, but even he's had to go off and cool down after some interactions - he doesn't normally see it and thought we were all just moaning.

InMyCorner · 08/04/2019 17:54

We’ve all has our arse handed to us at least once I’m sure

Absolutely.

Don't worry too much OP it's a rite of passage on AIBU. If you haven't had to NC at least three times, you're doing it wrong.

QuimReaper · 08/04/2019 18:04

Was it one of those awful beaded dummy clips op?
Or a glitter covered champagne flute?

What area of research do you think the customer is studying for an MA in?! Grin

Littlechocola · 08/04/2019 18:10

@QuimReaper MA in tat Grin

OKBobble · 08/04/2019 18:11

So now instead of misunderstanding and believing she had one person potentially thinking she was "stupid" she has 8 pages of people telling her she actually is!

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 08/04/2019 18:14

Haha this is hilarious so obvious she was talking about how much she could afford.

CherryClarence · 08/04/2019 18:16

spring Grin

Belenus · 08/04/2019 18:22

I took it as the poster doesn't understand what expedited means. As the buyer is obviously far more intelligent as she's doing a masters. Good on you OP!

Why though would a complete stranger, who's buying something from you, try to imply that you're stupid? If that's your interpretation you need to develop some self awareness and ask why you're so chippy. She's studying for a masters, not asking for a vital piece of equipment to take on her postdoctoral trip to Antarctica and loudly proclaiming that anyone without postgraduate education is a peasant.

If you think someone's being rude in those circumstances, just take a deep breath, read the thing again and ask if there's another possible interpretation. Then just smile and take the money.

CatchingBabies · 08/04/2019 18:30

Loving that the OP was so (wrongly) offended at being called stupid that she’s made herself look very stupid in the process. I can’t see how you’ve read it as anything other than what it is, a request for postage cost options.

starshollow1 · 08/04/2019 18:49

The irony of this post along with the hilarious comments have really cheered me up after a miserable day. Hope this one becomes a classic GrinGrinGrin

BloodyDisgrace · 08/04/2019 19:20

I can't believe it still hasn't been taken down. Is it a national bully day or what?

If this makes your day and makes you laugh, your lives must be pretty empty ... It might be a dull day waiting for a kid to come from school but surely there are better options to entertain yourself than laughing in mob at some poor bastard, and kicking them into the dirt - like, getting a job, reading a book, no?

Shortandsweet96 · 08/04/2019 19:23

Shes saying you c0uldnt possibly know what she could afford in terms of shipping.

You've read it wrong OP. I did too at first, then re-read it and understood.

InMyCorner · 08/04/2019 19:32

BloodyDisgrace

The OP has done exactly that to her customer no?

Not only is it the absolute height of unprofessionalism, posting on a public forum making you incredibly recognisable to said customer, you can guarantee the OP would have happily joined in the further slating of this student if everyone had agreed with them.

InMyCorner · 08/04/2019 19:34

Oh and I managed to laugh at this and go to my job today!

pessimisticstateofperception · 08/04/2019 19:37

I have a day off from my job, couldn't be arsed reading a book, so I decided to spend 10 minutes laughing at this, I guess my life is emptier than my bank account.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/04/2019 19:39

OP could have shut this down on the first page by simply saying "doh, I've been a plonker and misread what customer said" - surely that would have been the normal reaction?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 08/04/2019 19:41

Another irony on this thread bloodydisgrace you are defendinga bully - so if its national bully day maybe you should ask the person who has thought it woukd be oh so hilarious to take the piss out of a student who needed something for her studies and asked a very reasonable question. She thought that this students request was so hilarious she coukdnt keep it to herself she thought she'd post on social media and get other people to laugh at the student too.

That last bit rathef back fired and here you are sticking up for the actual bully

PineapplePatty · 08/04/2019 19:48

Sorry OP but this has really made me laugh

GreatDuckCookery · 08/04/2019 19:56

BloodyDisgrace what should everyone said to the OP then? I mean come on.

SoupDragon · 08/04/2019 19:58

laughing in mob at some poor bastard, and kicking them into the dirt

Which is what the OP was hoping to do to her customer.

Alsohuman · 08/04/2019 20:01

OP was inviting us to agree her customer was a cheeky cow. Almost unanimously MN disagreed and thought OP isn’t the sharpest tool in the box, despite cutting off her nose to spite her face. Fair resume, people?

Lolwhat · 08/04/2019 20:05

All she meant is you couldn’t possibly know how much extra she could afford, she did nothing wrong, glad I’m not buying from your shop

Greeborising · 08/04/2019 20:14

May I recommend ‘Eats, Shoots and Leaves’ by Lynne Truss 😂

Eminybob · 08/04/2019 20:16

I bet the OP is too busy cringing herself inside out to come back to the thread. How embarrassing.

lazyspoon · 08/04/2019 20:26

🤦🏼‍♀️

She meant you wouldn't possibly know her budget
