I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

OP posts:
MaryPoppinsUmberellaHandle · 08/04/2019 10:00

I think you've misunderstood.

She's acknowledging that you can't foresee her budget, but asking what (quick) shipping options can you offer.

LampHat · 08/04/2019 10:00

Is this a reverse?! If not, she sounds lovely and YABVVU.

Justicegf · 08/04/2019 10:00

Wow. I would profusely apologise and expedite for free on this occasion.
She did nothing wrong, she was only pointing out the predicament of you not knowing her budget.

CaptainJaneway12 · 08/04/2019 10:00

Has she asked why you have cancelled her order? If she needs it for her master's and quickly I'd feel a bit sorry for her.

FamilyOfAliens · 08/04/2019 10:00

You got the wrong end of the stick there.

Apologise and ask her to reorder.

Nicknacky · 08/04/2019 10:00

You have completely misunderstood her. She isn’t insulting your intelligence.

multivac · 08/04/2019 10:01

It's a perfectly polite message, acknowledging that you couldn't possibly be aware of her budget. You've been a bit daft, OP...

ILoveMaxiBondi · 08/04/2019 10:01

as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!!

Well, as it turns out...

gokartdillydilly · 08/04/2019 10:02

OP, I think you might be in the wrong job if that is how you treat your customers Hmm.

She was being perfectly reasonable. You weren't.

Nicknacky · 08/04/2019 10:03

I’m actually laughing that you have cancelled a sale because of this. Talk about cutting your nose of to spite your face.

pessimisticstateofperception · 08/04/2019 10:03

as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!!

Well, as it turns out...

MyKingdomForBrie · 08/04/2019 10:03

Oh my god I hope you can fix this as you've been really mean on a rather horrible assumption! You'd have to have a pretty big chip to think she meant you didn't understand expedited?!

notangelinajolie · 08/04/2019 10:03

Oh the irony.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/04/2019 10:03

She means that you couldn't possibly know what she can afford!

It literally took two seconds to spot that. Hmm

FelicisWolf · 08/04/2019 10:03

How embarrassing! As PP said, she is definitely saying you couldn't possibly know what her budget is, there is no insult in there whatsoever, in fact her message is very polite. If I were you, I would find out what the fastest shipping method is and how much it costs, and tell her you cancelled and refunded the order as it will be need to be paid for again including the shipping cost. You might save it, unless you sent her a rude message back of course.

Wallsbangers · 08/04/2019 10:04

I am obviously too stupid to post her item!!

Ah the irony. You've misunderstood. I hope you didn't send her a rude message.

Treezylover · 08/04/2019 10:05

I think this needs to be my addition to the thread on ‘best things I’ve read on mumsnet’ or whatever it is, it’s given me a good giggle this morning!

RhiWrites · 08/04/2019 10:05

Wow. You took an otherwise pleasant message, misread one line and jumped to a nasty interpretation and behaved unpleasantly as a result.

How about acknowledging you were wrong and apologising?

needanappp · 08/04/2019 10:06

OP even if she was being rude, which I don't think, I think you misinterpreted the message, your cancelling her purchase was VU. When you work in customer service, online or otherwise, you're going to come across some arseholes less than curteous customers. Unfortunately you need to grin and bear it. Your reaction to this was pretty unprofessional imo

AuntieCJ · 08/04/2019 10:06

Oops. Made an arse of yourself there, OP.

Dieu · 08/04/2019 10:06

You have acted hastily, defensively, unprofessionally and are out of order.

I hope your chip on the shoulder hasn't affected her Masters.

SunshineAllTheWhile · 08/04/2019 10:06

🤦🏽‍♀️

TildaTurnip · 08/04/2019 10:07

This is why punctuation (and always assuming the best in people) matters.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 08/04/2019 10:07

As the others have said you've completely misunderstood.

Mari50 · 08/04/2019 10:08

Haha, you have totally misinterpreted her message. She is basically offering to pay whatever extra she needs to within her budget but appreciates you don’t know what her budget is. You’ve made a bit of a dick of yourself to be honest. YABVVVU.
