Paid £100 tonight for cut and colour. It’s genuinely a terrible cut, scraggy with loads of very short layers, complete opposite of what I asked for. Colour like something from the 90s. Hair dye literally all over my face (although that can be fixed I don’t expect that for £100)
I didn’t speak up at the time because I felt awkward and also didn’t have my glasses on and wanted to have a look at home, thinking it wasn’t that bad. Husband and friends kindly confirm it is that bad. Indeed it’s fucking terrible.
So...I’m considering ringing tomorrow and talking to them. But...what would it achieve. Would the hairdresser be offended? And how can they fix a cut that is too short? Should I just chalk this down to experience? It’s a small village and I worry about offending!

Oh my goodness, they really made a hash of that. You poor thing! A woman at church has hair like you want - and blooming paid for! - and it’s gorgeous. Go and get it fixed.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 05/04/2019 22:28

Holy shit, I can’t believe the hairdresser has done that to you. Please go and talk to the manager/owner.

I feel so angry for you!

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:29

I’m not sure it can be fixed can it? Without going really short? I’ve just looked on the website and no email address

OP I'm so angry for you! At the very very least get your £100 back that is absolutely shocking!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 05/04/2019 22:31

Just seen the before photo, your hair was more like what you wanted as it was.

You could have a few extensions put in the side sections, tape in ones would be good for this.

ViserionTheDragon · 05/04/2019 22:31

Flowers for you OP, that's nothing like the picture and it's a poorly executed cut. The colour job isn;t great either - it doesn't look like they used any toner to lighten it up a bit? Without question you must complain! Good luck.

stayathomer · 05/04/2019 22:33

I’m not sure if going back will just cause awkwardness and more stress. This was supposed to be my first step towards self care after a shit time.

OP from the way you're talking ( you sound lovely!), youre not going to offend them, you're righting a wrong. As others said, you paid for a service, you deserve to get what you paid for. As someone else said, we're all behind you! The feeling of getting your hair cut and the aftermath is one of the biggest steps in self care because you hold your head up and feel like you. Definitely go back, and look at it this way- the stylist can only learn if they're told what they're doing wrong. Best of luck op

nutellalove · 05/04/2019 22:34

So angry on your behalf. definitely ask for the £100 back. Looks nothing like the photos and to be honest, isn't even a look that most decent hairdressers would cut!! In the meantime till it grows out, I reckon a half up half down look (tie the front short bits back ) would style it out until it grows longer.

Trekkingbeyond · 05/04/2019 22:35

Deep breath and go in when it's quiet tomorrow and complain firmly but politely. You don't deserve to part with £100 and be unhappy with your cut. Good luck you can do it 🙂.

bellabasset · 05/04/2019 22:37

Well it will grow but it will take time to get the length back. I would ask for my money back, go to a salon one of your friends can recommend, get it conditioned and cut. Leave the colour for a couple of weeks.

Rottencooking · 05/04/2019 22:37

They probably have a Facebook page. Message them privately and send the pics. £100!!!!

Noodledoodledoo · 05/04/2019 22:38

I have complained about a colour before, took a huge amount of courage - I am still seeing the same hairdresser after 19 years and now travel nearly an hour to go back to her.

I had a chat with her about complaints a while ago - not due to me being unhappy with her but my cleaner, and her attitude was she would rather know than you go elsewhere to get it sorted.

Do go back.

lunar1 · 05/04/2019 22:38

Whoever cut that shouldn't end allowed near scissors again. Luckily it's long enough that a decent hairdresser will be able to fix it, just not how you wanted.

They should absolutely give you every penny back.

loobielousplaits · 05/04/2019 22:39

That's shockingly bad OP - please don't let them get away with it - do they have a FB account that you post pics on and say you're not happy? Although they will probably just delete.

Absolutely demand your money back - and do not accept them offering to 'rectify' it. I won't let them within a mile of my hair after that!

Unfortunately you're just going have to wait for it to grow out and then go somewhere with good customer reviews/recommended by friends etc.

I'm mortified for you - this would be massive for me as I take great pride in my hair and make up etc. Flowers

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 05/04/2019 22:39

In terms of fixing it, might it be worth getting (a different) hairdresser to graduate the front layer to the back, so it's more of a continuous angle than a mullet?

Whatever happens, do not go shorter on the front.

Peterpiperpickedwrong · 05/04/2019 22:40

Oh you poor thing! I’m not sure I would risk letting anyone in that salon anywhere near my hair again!

I did once (once! Who am I kidding?) have a hairdressing trauma, I spent months growing it to shoulder length and wanted layers to frame my face cut in. For some inexplicable reason she took thinning scissors to the crown and hacked bits out leaving me with 2cm lengths “to give it body” and cut my hair above my ears. I was so angry that is the only time I have ever declared I was unhappy, the manager got involved and said I didn’t have to pay.

You really do need to speak to the manager and request money back so you can put it towards someone trying to make it look better for you so at least you don’t feel so awful whilst it’s growing. Do not worry about how the hairdresser feels, she didn’t do what you asked.

MrsRyanGosling15 · 05/04/2019 22:49

Sweet Jesus, that's horrific. I would be asking maybe for some extensions put in to get it all to the right length to buy you some time to grow it. If you really look after them and don't keep them in too long they shouldn't damage your hair.

kateandme · 05/04/2019 22:50

really sorry this happened to you.
I would email them if you don't feel up to more stress it might casue you going straight in.they might then call you in to talk it through.i would send them these pictures they show it perfectly and will be brilliant evidence to your email.

don't stop the self care though! don't feel down on yourself ok.i know that easier said than done when you've been brave and put urself out there.but this now needs all the more kindess to yourself doesn't it.
no judging,no shame or guilt.you did a brilliant and brave thing to go for it.
what can you do this weekend to help.
snuggle up with a movie.go to the park.read a good book or get your favourite meal.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2019 22:52

Oh no! That’s nothing like the cut or colour you asked for. How horrid for you. I’d definitely be wanting my money back. It’s going to take probably about a year to get close to that other photo unless your hair grows really fast.

kateandme · 05/04/2019 22:53

oh just read bout the email.they on twitter or fb?
could someone go in with you.
deff go in.you can do it.itl be scary until you step through the door and start speaking.keep calm.keep emotions stable and just speak facts of what happened and what you expect next.

Frequency · 05/04/2019 22:54

I'm a hairdresser and this is hard to answer because I

  1. Wouldn't fuck up that bad
  2. Wouldn't let the client leave until I fixed the fuck-up
  3. Would even dare to ask for a single penny if I fell asleep while cutting your hair somehow or whatever it was your stylist managed to do that caused her to fuck up so bad (was she sober?).

I have no idea how your hairdresser managed that. Are you sure she was qualified and not a trainee? Definitely ask for a refund and take your refund to a different salon to get it fixed.

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:54

I have sent a message/pics on their Facebook page (private message). I was very polite and asked for a refund. It has been read but obviously very late so no reply.
Will keep you posted. My kids keep laughing at me 😂

loobielousplaits · 05/04/2019 22:55

Looking back at your pics OP it looks like you wanted a graduated 'bob' with it longer at the front and going shorter at the back - she's done the opposite! Short at the front, longer at the back - and I agree with a PP, do not let that salon within a mile of your hair again.

You're probably feeling like crap now (I would as hair is so important to me) but please keep in mind it will grow and you'll probably look back in months to come and laugh at the time you had a Pat Sharp look! Grin

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:57

Ah I’m laughing now it’s soooo bad!!
