Paid £100 tonight for cut and colour. It’s genuinely a terrible cut, scraggy with loads of very short layers, complete opposite of what I asked for. Colour like something from the 90s. Hair dye literally all over my face (although that can be fixed I don’t expect that for £100)
I didn’t speak up at the time because I felt awkward and also didn’t have my glasses on and wanted to have a look at home, thinking it wasn’t that bad. Husband and friends kindly confirm it is that bad. Indeed it’s fucking terrible.
So...I’m considering ringing tomorrow and talking to them. But...what would it achieve. Would the hairdresser be offended? And how can they fix a cut that is too short? Should I just chalk this down to experience? It’s a small village and I worry about offending!

Phone them and ask for the manager.they can make the cut better and sort the colour but with another better stylist. Dont feel bad you're paying for a service. They'll be used to it you wont be the first person to complain and need redoing.

Amara123 · 05/04/2019 22:12

Something very similar happened to me but I just waited for 6 weeks and got in styled again. But it was so bad. Literally the second hairdresser took me by the hand and gently asked me why I had cut my own hair?!
When you get a bad cut, perversely the last thing you want to do is put yourself in the hands of the one who did it!

NowIKnowHowJoanFelt · 05/04/2019 22:13

I'm afraid that I have never been able to say. I just vote with my feet and don't go back.

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:13

Asked for this and got this...

I’m not sure if the pics worked?!

LizziesTwin · 05/04/2019 22:15

They worked - you poor thing, that’s pretty different

NowIKnowHowJoanFelt · 05/04/2019 22:16

Gosh. I feel for you.

dementedpixie · 05/04/2019 22:17

Why have they cut the sides so short?! Looks nothing like the picture. What length was your hair before?

Isadora2007 · 05/04/2019 22:17

It doesn’t even look like they dyed it? And I can understand that the nice photo clearly has curls as a finish- but yours barely looks even dried? I’d be so upset too- have you washed and styled it yourself to see if you can salvage it?

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:18

My hair was really long before and I explicitly said I want to still be able to tie it back. I’m not sure if going back will just cause awkwardness and more stress. This was supposed to be my first step towards self care after a shit time.

I'm a hairdresser that's a terrible cut!! What was your hair like before? You can't be left like that far too short at the front compared to the back. Call tomorrow and send them these pics!

DumbledoresApprentice · 05/04/2019 22:18

Shock that’s far too short!!! Definitely go back and see the manager. I’m assuming you showed the picture of what you wanted?

wineandcheeseplease · 05/04/2019 22:18

Oh wow. I'd definitely complain

SisterhoodOfKahn · 05/04/2019 22:18

Oh no. Poor you. It's an 80's mullet.

Was it cut by the owner of the salon? If it wasn't I'd phone and ask to speak to the owner, email her those pictures and ask for a full refund.

If it was the owner who cut it! No idea what to do, especially in a small village.

Refilona · 05/04/2019 22:19

Please go and complain, they gave you a mullet. You need to get it fixed and/or the money back for your hassle. Absolutely disgraceful, please don’t think about the hairdressers feelings for a minute, the nerve of accepting £100 after doing that?! I’m so sorry.

Cocobean30 · 05/04/2019 22:20

They have done the complete opposite of what you asked for, they should be providing extensions until the front grows to the same length as the back. Please go back and complain you deserve to have it fixed

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 05/04/2019 22:20

Absolutely call and speak to the manager. Send them (if you have it) a comparable before pic, the pic you wanted and then what the stylist did. Frankly that person should not be allowed anywhere near scissors.

I'd get a refund and go elsewhere to see what can be done.

Letitbegin · 05/04/2019 22:20

Don't let them fix it, ask for your money back. If they refuse ask them if they would promote themselves with this hair cut

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 05/04/2019 22:22

Also - I know it's bad, but hair grows Flowers

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:23

Emailing is a good idea, to be fair it wasn’t that obvious when I left as she had sort of curled the short bits back. She asked me if I wanted layers, I said I don’t know, I want it like the picture so if that has layers then yes, no if it doesn’t.
I think emailing is a good idea.

SisterhoodOfKahn · 05/04/2019 22:24

@Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes well this is your second step at self care. Stand up for yourself! You did not deserved a shit haircut like that!

We're all backing you here, that is NOT what you asked for! That is not what anybody has asked for since 1983!!

Use your new found strength and phone them tomorrow!!

And ask for more money to repair the damage, to either get extensions or you're going to have to bob it.

As a PP said the person who did this should not be near scissors.

itshappened · 05/04/2019 22:25

You're going to have to go a lot shorter everywhere to correct that I'm afraid. Ask for your money back and go to a different hairdresser to correct it.

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 05/04/2019 22:26

Probably outing myself but this was my hair before! Taken last week

Oh god OP I would be so angry with them. Why have they cut the front so short! I would definitely complain, tell them you want a refund but I wouldn't let them touch my hair again!

Boopeedoop · 05/04/2019 22:27

Shitting hell it's a mullet. I'm so sorry.
