Two weeks holiday and 2 bank holidays means only 10 days of school in April. AIBU to be annoyed?

I'm angry and upset because I don't even go to school so I won't be getting all that time off.

Just wait till you see August.

DD1 has 7 days of school in April.
Dd2 has 5.
I am not at all annoyed. What would be the point? School don’t decide when Easter falls. Anyway it’s lovely having them at home and its lovely not getting up at 6.45 am.

If you’re shocked and appalled about August, you could move to Scotland. We don’t get all of August off, poor wee scones.

Newsflash: Easter is a thing.

I wonder if OP's issue is that with all in one month, there is a lot of time off she has to take. If she's self employed or needs to take the time off unpaid, then there wouldn't be a lot of wage at the end of the month. Just assuming of course (and possibly overthinking).

I suppose this year with Easter being so late and most of the schools going back on the Tuesday after Easter Monday, they might be getting one more day off than if Easter fell in the middle of the two week holiday. Not a reason to be annoyed though.

DS's school doesn't treat the May Day bank holiday as a day off. He's annoyed!

I think some school's Easter holiday doesn't actually coincide with Easter this year

Who are you annoyed with?

What are you annoyed about?

If you work in an environment where you are paid monthly and have to take unpaid leave as childcare then this maybe why this OP is stressing, but it shouldn't be a surprise and you should have budgeted for it......

BlueEyed but on this basis OP would have had a full month's pay in March

Why are you annoyed? I presume they will have no days at school at all in August? I imagine they had about 12 days in December...

Easter is often in April (ds2's birthday on 7th is usually in the hols) so this would be normal, surely?

Report
ilovesooty · 04/04/2019 18:39

Presumably you've known for a while what date Easter is and when the school holidays are?

Report
TeacupDrama · 04/04/2019 18:39

in Scotland they are off for 1st 2 weeks in april ( the Spring /easter holiday is always first two weeks) back on monday 15th for 4 days, then off Friday/ monday for Easter it appears they have 2 more days than normal but in actual fact it will be less elsewhere

So any year when Easter is very early or late they get an Easter weekend then 2 week holiday

YABU. The date of Easter in 2019 was known about in 1752 when the Gregorian calendar was introduced in the UK, and school holidays have been broadly the same for at least fifty years.

So you have had plenty of warning.
