Two weeks holiday and 2 bank holidays means only 10 days of school in April. AIBU to be annoyed?

Fine by me! My DDs are really ready for the rest. They work really hard at school - and this will be a nice opportunity for them to relax, catch up with friends at other schools and cousins, and a bit of family time too. The teachers really do need the break too. Ours work so so hard during term time, and many will be catching up on preparing for next term during this down time.

YABU. What's your problem? Confused

PhilomenaButterfly · 07/04/2019 15:45

DS 7 fell asleep on the sofa on Thursday when he got home. They're exhausted by the end of term.

PhilomenaButterfly · 07/04/2019 18:10

DD has 15 days because she has Easter school during the holidays to prepare for SATs.

YouBumder · 07/04/2019 18:15

They get the same number of days’ holidays and in school that they always get.

It’s weird though how they’re off for 2 weeks, back in for 4 days and then off for the long weekend though. I think having the first week of the hol this week or even next week would be better.

My kids only have 8 days in school in April ! Good job I'm on maternity leave so don't need to use all my leave in this holiday only , then 4 weeks until may half term

pinkhousesarebest · 07/04/2019 18:34

Don't move to France then. We come straight back from two weeks of holiday to three bank holidays in May.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 07/04/2019 18:39

Mine has 11 days in school and eldest has already finished university minus 3 exams in May.

outpinked · 07/04/2019 18:41

YABU, there’s the same amount of school holidays every single year.

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 07/04/2019 18:43

And I should add, that I can’t wait for the holidays. Ds14 is shattered at the moment. He puts him self to bed each night between 9:00-9:30pm, I don’t have to say phone off, tv off, nothing, comes in says I’m going to bed and off he goes. The kids need a break (and so do the teachers, before the exams start)

It's wonderful isn't it? Lots of time to spend with the kids.

We're having a family road trip from Nottingham to Naples via Switzerland, Milan, Venice, Bologna and Rome then heading to Puglia for a couple of days too. So great to have this time to spend together.

PhilomenaButterfly school in Easter holidays to prepare for SATS?!

What kind of madness is this? Why isn’t term time enough preparation time?
