To be disappointed with the school mums

Supposedly “naice” area, private school (which may or may not make a difference, I don’t know) and some of the mothers are just not nice people!

They gossip, they show off, they try to manipulate the teachers (and it works with some), they do not discipline their children, they are competitive to the point of making nasty remarks to 4 year olds if they have won a prize and their child hasn’t and they flout the school rules (hair length, uniform, no fighting) because they are paying so “what are they going to do?!” 😕

I don’t know what I was expecting but this is like a group of mean girls who have had children and still think they are in the playground.

tips we have similar reasons why dc is in private. I too felt really disheartened when we started as their def was an ‘in crowd’ and it was mainly PTA mums. Even when I went to a PTA meeting it was quite clear I wasn’t needed - neither was the other new mum who had just started. It really soured my first year.

However, last September brought a lot of new mums and I quickly made friends with them. Ignore the other mums and just concentrate on your kids. Most are just low self esteem house wives on a power trip!

BertrandRussell · 31/03/2019 17:16

“Unfortunately most school mums esp PTA are absolute vacuous horrors”

Interesting. Considering that most women st some stage in theie lives are “school mums” (including you) -at what stage do they become vacuous horrors?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:18

What stage? The stage were they moan, berate, compete & hector incessantly
HTH
Happy to elaborate further on their nonsense, and indeed stages

tipsandtricks · 31/03/2019 17:29

Please do elaborate.

It isn’t just the PTA mums at our school, it is the majority. They haven’t, yet, complained about the teachers afaik.

So basically that’s what you think women are like? You’re not a “I get on so much better with men, they’re so much more direct and never bitchy” woman, are you?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:40

Imo,It’s a common experience. referenced in other threads, online, & media
I’ve observed queen bee mums, the falling in/our.arbitrary exclusion of others
Competition and histrionics about school on an industrial scale.
Paranoia & politics, Spectacular falling outs.PTA dramas
and of course the inevitable indiscreet emails,WhatsApp

I am on the periphery by choice I work FT (aww so sad, head tilt) and do no PTA activities
I Delete the PTA emails, don’t respond and happy to have nothing to do with it all

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:44

So basically, don’t paraphrase what I’m saying to fit your predetermined agenda
You know I’m referring to specific group of school mums women I’ve encountered at school. Hence the moniker school mums
This is my direct, lived experience with a group of mums I know through school

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2019 17:48

Fuck off with your “PTA mums are awful” bollocks
For very little thanks we raise money so YOUR children can have visits from owls, storytellers, Leavers Tshirts, books for the library. A planetarium and various other things that School doesn’t have budget for and without is giving up our free time they simply would not get. And that’s not to mention the fun the kids have at the events we put on to pay for these things. God knows how out of pocket we all are as well as we don’t usually claim back for the biscuits etc we sell at all the school performances etc.
And for the record NONE of us are friends in RL (so no clique), NONE of us are bored SAHM’s with nothing better to do and NONE of my dc have ever had a major part in ANY school performance.
Some PTA’s might be a bunch of evil witches ( although I doubt it) but most of us just want ALL the school kids to have the best experience they can give how tight budgets are and do our best to help give them that and anyone calling me names because of it can just kiss my arse frankly
And if anyone thinks I’m slightly angry here then yes I am given that I’ve spent a large part of Mother’s Day filling in Risk assessment forms and arranging other things for the Easter event next week to ensure that the Leavers of 2019 all get their tshirts

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:49

Oh do spare me the sanctimonious we do sooooo much speech.its tiresome

BertrandRussell · 31/03/2019 17:50

Women who hate women. Very sad.

TheFallenMadonna · 31/03/2019 17:52

My DH (works FT) was a PTA dad. One of several. Is this uncommon?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:53

women who cannot accurately read, retain and summarise information are also very sad

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2019 17:53

As I said kiss my arse.
What have you done to raise money for your kids school today? Nothing? That’s ok, a lot of people can’t or actually dont want to
Your choice and I don’t criticise you for it but it seriously pisses me off when you think it’s ok to call me names for doing it.

TriarFuck · 31/03/2019 17:53

@BirdieInTheHand has nailed it.

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2019 17:54

fallen we have 2 PTA dads on a committee of 8 and 2 other regular helpers ( including a teacher)

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 17:57

hopping you really do personify that inflated sense of self PTA has.nad the rudeness
The we do sooo much speech, notion of selfless service to the school
So no I’ll not kiss your arse as you’ll have plenty PTA acolytes who can do that

MsTSwift · 31/03/2019 18:04

Yes those PTA bastards fundraising and shit. Ours even painted the school because in case you hadn’t noticed there is no money any more. What pathetic stereotype typed riddled sexist bollocks. Not my experience at all. Lots of women work full time it’s pretty normal. Lots that I know do so and are supportive of their kids school. Bad luck op think you have a crap year group

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2019 18:05

Sadly not because out of a school of over 300 children our core committee is only 8 strong so too busy working etc as well as fundraising to find time for arse kissing - even The Head,’s illustrious arse, which is a real shame as I’m sure DS fancied being Mary in The Nativity this year

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 18:09

I’m not going to change my mind based on your proclamation of how altruistic and saintly PTA are

Hazeintheclouds · 31/03/2019 18:14

anyone calling me names because of it can just kiss my arse frankly

Is there any need for this vulgarity?

MsTSwift · 31/03/2019 18:18

It just shows you up as being abit thick. Like saying all men in suits are capitalist bastards sleeping with their secretaries. I’m sure a few people in any sort of grouping can be vile and lovely

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2019 18:23

Possibly not Haze and apologies for any offence but as previously mentioned I’m quite annoyed

Hazeintheclouds · 31/03/2019 18:27

Ok. Fair enough. 🙂

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 31/03/2019 18:35

Yes I laughed at the kiss my arse comment,IME typical of the PTA really

MsTSwift · 31/03/2019 18:38

Yes. Everyone who is in the pta is exactly the same Hmm. Oh dear
(Not in pta myself because I WORK so therefore am a sharp suited career bitch oh wait I am not because most people are not walking stereotypes)
