To think that Teresa May's speech this evening was an absolute fucking disgrace?

'You, the public, have had enough.
“You’re tired of the infighting, you’re tired of the political games and the arcane procedural rows, tired of MPs talking about nothing else but Brexit when you have real concerns about our children’s schools, our National Health Service, knife crime'.

“You want this stage of the Brexit process to be over and done with. I agree. I am on your side. ”

So: 'You’re tired of all the shit that my party and my government have caused eg through years of cuts to the health and police services. It's not my fault that Brexit has been so appallingly badly handled, I'm only the Prime Minister and it's everyone else's fault. So why not just let me have my way and things will all get better? I am a mindreader and presume to know what you want, even though I display zero empathy in my public utterances, and I know you all want Brexit (even though only a small proportion of the electorate actually voted for it, 3 years ago)'.

We’re finished as a country if this is the best we can do, it is just heartbreaking that our country has been brought to this. I cant believe that this woman is in a position of such power and represents our country.

I don't WANT you on my side, just get away from me.

I still don't understand what else she was supposed to have done?

Hmmmmm. To have fewer red lines? To not be motivated by her hatred of immigration?

Whatafustercluck · 20/03/2019 23:02

How the fucking fuck can she claim to speak for me and almost everybody I know?! The woman is delusional. She's not on my side, she never was and she never will be. She's got the skin of a rhino and the audacity of a barrel load of monkeys.

KidLorneRoll · 20/03/2019 23:02

"I still don't understand what else she was supposed to have done?"

Negotiated competently.
Respected parliament by not refusing to consider other viewpoints.
Respected the electorate by turning up on time and not spewing out 4 minutes of the biggest fucking bullshit imaginable.

There's 3, for starters.

CatGoals · 20/03/2019 23:02

I thought the speech was spot on.

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 23:02

Finnegan Most people had made up their minds whether to vote leave or remain, based on facts, before the bus slogan. When exactly did that appear? Its not something I took into account tbh
Maybe you didn't take it into account but some did. I also have an acquaintance who was completely sucked in by the bus lie. People believe all kinds of bullshit, especially when they've been groomed by the mainstream media for years.

AntiHop · 20/03/2019 23:03

Sign the petition, and come to the people's vote march on Saturday. Make your voice heard.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 20/03/2019 23:04

@fazackerley
Exactly! Was just w
Saying this with my 2 work colleagues, one of them is polish and he is a bit worried but me and the other guy are not very political but even we can see this isn’t her wrong doing, yes she could have probably handled it better, but they are fighting her at every corner so she’s pretty much trying to do what she can in a very very shit situation.

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:05

To not be motivated by her hatred of immigration?

But that's why people voted to leave. Controlling immigration is what people want.

God knows why but they do.

BearFoxBear · 20/03/2019 23:06

She's a fucking disgrace. I'm furious.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 20/03/2019 23:06

I didn’t vote purely because I didn’t know enough about it.... but I would never vote due to immigration, I just hate the way the eu control us... tell us how to run our country, what we can and can’t do.

jessicawessica · 20/03/2019 23:06

I think she has shot herself in the foot with that speech.
She has slagged off all the MPs whose vote she is counting on to pass her Bill for the 3rd time.
They will all probably vote against her now, if it does get voted on, just to let her know how pissed off they are with her complete lack of respect toward them.
This is pretty much why the leave vote won in the first place.....a lack of respect.

FinnegansWhiskers · 20/03/2019 23:06

Ah ok.... your acquaintance could have abstained then...but s/he didn't...everyone is entitled to vote.... so who are you hoping will take over when TM throws the towel in??

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:07

Stop saying this!!! No-one else had any fucking viewpoints! Who had a view point? Not JC, that incompetent moron refused to even talk to her. If you mean a 2nd referendum thsts a stupid idea.

GCAcademic · 20/03/2019 23:07

Just to clarify I was being sarcastic about Donald trump.. I absolutley can not stand the guy.... I do not care what he thinks of our country....

Whoops Blush. In my defence, it’s virtually impossible to distinguish satire from truth these days.

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 23:08

I still don't understand what else she was supposed to have done? All this hatred for her when really it's Cameron you should despise.

anonymousbird · 20/03/2019 23:09

30000 votes in about 15 minutes!

KidLorneRoll · 20/03/2019 23:10

"No-one else had any fucking viewpoints!"

Nobody, over the course of 3 years, had any viewpoints.

Fucking really?

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:10

Fair enough Grin

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:11

Come on then, what viewpoints and ideas did anyone come up with? Apart from the ERG?

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 23:13

Ah ok.... your acquaintance could have abstained then...but s/he didn't...everyone is entitled to vote...
Why should she have abstained? As you say, she's entitled to vote. I was making the point that you claimed not to have taken the bus into account, but plenty of people did. here's that link again...
The reason they plastered that lie all over the side of a bus was because they knew it would turn some heads.

LovingLola · 20/03/2019 23:16

It’s all quite strange.

bellie710 · 20/03/2019 23:16

While I am no lover of David Cameron, he gave us the option to vote on whether we leave or remain. The majority chose leave, it doesn't matter how big or small this is, it was still leave. If we do not now leave then democracy is completely screwed and no one can ever have faith in our government again.
David Cameron allowed this to happen because the people wanted it to happen, and the fact that more people chose leave than remain proves he was right to go ahead with the referendum so I'm not sure how he is to blame for the mess?
All the MP's are to blame for thinking about themselves only and not what the people who elected them have asked of them!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/03/2019 23:16

I've been out all evening so missed her speech h but am trying to catch up now.

I am married to the most wonderful and calm dh but he told me he watched her and ended up shouting "fuck off fuck off" at the TV. We've been married for 25 years and I've never heard him say "fuck off" to anyone.

The whole thing is a disgrace and for her to blame parliament is disgraceful. God knows where we go now.

viccat · 20/03/2019 23:16

I'm 100% pro remain but I genuinely think TM's deal is as good as it gets. Remainers need to stop buying into the fantasy there could be some better deal available when the truth is there is no Brexit that could be better than what we have now as members of the EU. We need (more) MPs who will stand up and be honest about it, to say 'we would like to respect the results of the referendum but in the national interest we can't proceed with Brexit any longer, here is why..."

reenchantmentofeverydaylife · 20/03/2019 23:16

And that fucking awful coat of hers. I cannot put my faith in someone in a fleece.

Comedy gold! Grin
