To think that Teresa May's speech this evening was an absolute fucking disgrace?

'You, the public, have had enough.
“You’re tired of the infighting, you’re tired of the political games and the arcane procedural rows, tired of MPs talking about nothing else but Brexit when you have real concerns about our children’s schools, our National Health Service, knife crime'.

“You want this stage of the Brexit process to be over and done with. I agree. I am on your side. ”

So: 'You’re tired of all the shit that my party and my government have caused eg through years of cuts to the health and police services. It's not my fault that Brexit has been so appallingly badly handled, I'm only the Prime Minister and it's everyone else's fault. So why not just let me have my way and things will all get better? I am a mindreader and presume to know what you want, even though I display zero empathy in my public utterances, and I know you all want Brexit (even though only a small proportion of the electorate actually voted for it, 3 years ago)'.

We’re finished as a country if this is the best we can do, it is just heartbreaking that our country has been brought to this. I cant believe that this woman is in a position of such power and represents our country.

I don't WANT you on my side, just get away from me.

Agreed. She may have had a difficult hand but she has royally fucked up everything to date and her speech was somewhere between unhelpful and dangerous. So relieved to have emigrated.

Blessthekids · 20/03/2019 22:27

Agree. It was an awful speech. A complete waste of everyone's time.

crummyusername · 20/03/2019 22:28

Havananana do you fancy a job as PM? I hear there may be a vacancy soon. I’d vote for you.

onthenaughtystepagain · 20/03/2019 22:28

I cant believe that this woman is in a position of such power and represents our country.

No-one of any party could have made this ridiculous situation work. Where it's a case of 1 against 26 and they refuse to negotiate, simply saying No every time, there can be no solution. By voting to Leave those people voted to leave with no deal although I don't think that they knew what was involved in leaving. They were seduced by the lies on the side of a bus.

DangermousesSidekick · 20/03/2019 22:29

Havanananana that is brilliant. Now there is a speech that just might unify the country, if only we could all believe it. Nothing else will.

KidLorneRoll · 20/03/2019 22:29

The only thing that speech has done is put beyond any doubt that the woman is a fucking lunatic.

So, so angry about it. The only plausible explanation is that she knows it's going to piss MP's off and cause the no deal she so clearly wants.

gordonbennettt · 20/03/2019 22:30

Fucking incompetent, stubborn, lying, moron

and the rest of the incompetent, self-interested, short-termist labour and tory idiots who have sold this country short.

I'm furious. How have this shower of idiots ended up running the country? How the fuck could this happen?

ladyflower23 · 20/03/2019 22:30

David Cameron has so much to answer for. Obviously there was division in this country before the ref, or it would never have come up for discussion in the first place. But Brexit has made it so much worse. I cannot see any outcome to this that will heal the rift. In my view the best option available is to hold another people's vote.

Livingtothefull · 20/03/2019 22:31

Yes please sign the petition....approaching 200,000 signatures now after 1 day.

And if you can please march on Saturday:
www.peoples-vote.uk/march

Everyone should support a public vote including Brexit supporters. The government is trying to force her deal through a 3rd time even though it has been overwhelmingly rejected twice, because nobody incl brexiteers likes it because it is a rotten deal which will leave us worse off. And a 'no deal' could literally cost lives, TM and her government is holding the no deal risk over our heads to try to bully her way to getting her deal passed, and for that I will NEVER forgive her whatever the outcome.

YANBU
It is an unprecedented shitshow.

Petition signed and shared
Bunch of self-serving wankers, all putting themselves first.
But we'll have blue passports so that's good Hmm

onthenaughtystepagain · 20/03/2019 22:32

Can any of her critics outline what they would have done in the circumstances? How would they have negotiated with 26 who won't negotiate?
No-one of any party, group, self-interest group has ever said how the leaving should have been done. It's easy to be critical of what someone has done or not done but unless you can put forward a better solution, other than childish name-calling, then people need to shut-up.

Somerville · 20/03/2019 22:33

She's nothing but a recruiting sergeant for revoke at this point.

Utterly sickening, that speech tonight. If another MP gets attacked, she'l be partly responsible. Pitting the people against the parliment is especially dimwitted ... for an MP like her. Hmm

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 22:33

I'm furious. How have this shower of idiots ended up running the country? How the fuck could this happen?
Because people vote for them and because the official party of opposition is atrocious/non-existent.

onthenaughtystepagain · 20/03/2019 22:34

Fucking incompetent, stubborn, lying, moron

What an adult, measured response of a standard at which MN excels!

Or maybe you're referring to those who voted Leave originally.

Livingtothefull · 20/03/2019 22:34

I wish I could get out but unfortunately I have to stay and hope that should no deal happens we will be able to get the medication my disabled DS depends upon. So we have no choice but to stay and live through this shit show.

OP posts:
Thadeus · 20/03/2019 22:35

I agree with TM.

twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 22:35

Whoops - meant to say the opposition is atrocious/non-existent. The opposition party is quite clearly not non-existent! It's just totally ineffective.

Unfinishedkitchen · 20/03/2019 22:36

She’s gone completely despotic and needs to be gone by morning. She is no leader, she’s a power hungry maniac. She’s just incited ‘the people’ to attack parliament.

Fatasfook · 20/03/2019 22:36

Dictator in the making.

DangermousesSidekick · 20/03/2019 22:36

This is the woman who refused to defend the law lords when they were attacked by the tabloids as well isn't she. Our own leader will not defend the due process of law in Britain.

ValeurNutritive · 20/03/2019 22:37

She is dead right. Too many of our MPs, the ones who are meant to serve us, have been using this to further their own agendas.
Most notably the floppy-haired clown who led the Leave campaign on the assumption of securing a glorious, PR-friendly defeat.

Ribbonsonabox · 20/03/2019 22:37

YANBU
I'd hoped she was going to bow out.... but no, she just took some time TO BLAME EVERYONE ELSE and then be patronising

Neolara · 20/03/2019 22:37

I think she has lost the plot.

keepforgettingmyusername · 20/03/2019 22:37

How dare she presume to speak for me. For anyone but herself. How have there not been riots yet? We aren't being listened to and it's infuriating. TM needs to go.

KidLorneRoll · 20/03/2019 22:38

" How would they have negotiated with 26 who won't negotiate?"

Patent nonsense. The UK went in with their ridiculous red lines and expected the EU to buckle. They held all the cards, we need them far more than they need us. They didn't buckle, and rather than moving on May continues to ignore parliament and make 5 minute speeches where 10 seconds of "Fuck yous all" would have had the same basic sentiment.
