To think that Teresa May's speech this evening was an absolute fucking disgrace?

'You, the public, have had enough.
“You’re tired of the infighting, you’re tired of the political games and the arcane procedural rows, tired of MPs talking about nothing else but Brexit when you have real concerns about our children’s schools, our National Health Service, knife crime'.

“You want this stage of the Brexit process to be over and done with. I agree. I am on your side. ”

So: 'You’re tired of all the shit that my party and my government have caused eg through years of cuts to the health and police services. It's not my fault that Brexit has been so appallingly badly handled, I'm only the Prime Minister and it's everyone else's fault. So why not just let me have my way and things will all get better? I am a mindreader and presume to know what you want, even though I display zero empathy in my public utterances, and I know you all want Brexit (even though only a small proportion of the electorate actually voted for it, 3 years ago)'.

We’re finished as a country if this is the best we can do, it is just heartbreaking that our country has been brought to this. I cant believe that this woman is in a position of such power and represents our country.

I don't WANT you on my side, just get away from me.

YANBU. She is a dangerous idiot and needs to be stood down NOW. How can the Prime fucking Minister attack parliament like she's not even part of it? Between her and the other balloonhead WTF has happened to this country, who the hell vets MP and leadership candidates and why are we voting for them?

GCAcademic · 20/03/2019 22:53

I’m fed up hearing about it and only care when they finally make a decision after 2 years... can’t believe it’s taking this long... it’s like trying to leave a cult....

I hope you realise that leaving the EU is just the start of the negotiations? We will still be trying to agree deals with the EU in ten years’ time.

BigChocFrenzy · 20/03/2019 22:54

Trump approves of us being available to loot by the giant USA agribusiness and healthcare firms

Olinguito · 20/03/2019 22:54

She doesn't speak for me. What a farce. Petition signed.

glueandstick · 20/03/2019 22:54

And that fucking awful coat of hers. I cannot put my faith in someone in a fleece.

anonymousbird · 20/03/2019 22:55

2000 signatures in the last two minutes.

KidLorneRoll · 20/03/2019 22:55

"At least we will get a deal with USA as Donald trump approves of us becoming independent...
I’m telling you it will do down to the last dying seconds and we will end up with a deal, the eu need us just as much as we need them... it’s like watching someone play a game of chicken.... who will give out first."

This is the kind of bullshit thinking that has got us into this mess. Completely ignorant of the facts and deluded towards how other countries view us.

user1497997754 · 20/03/2019 22:55

Well better her than Jeremy Corbyn.....he should be done for Treason......at least she has tried to sort out a deal what the he'll has he done.....Jack shit that's what...I hope she gets her deal through...and I hope those who voted to leave are happy......

FinnegansWhiskers · 20/03/2019 22:55

For those advocating TM bow out now can you tell us who you think should take over.....You know Boris, JRM and Gove can wait to take over the PM position....right? Which one of those would you prefer as PM to take us out of the EU? You know the PM of this country has to take into account the majority vote?

Why are Remainers so intent on the PM passing a bill to revoke article 50? It cant happen... Cameron made it clear that the majority vote would be conclusive. The remainers should be happy that TM is taking the stance she is. Only they cant see it...… All remainers can see is a figure on the side of a bus - that most people didn't notice anyway!

Most people had made up their minds whether to vote leave or remain, based on facts, before the bus slogan. When exactly did that appear? Its not something I took into account tbh

reenchantmentofeverydaylife · 20/03/2019 22:56

What chills me most is the knowledge that, up and down the country, there will have been far too many people nodding away to themselves, completely taken in by her speaking 'for' them, and incapable of realising that she was patronising them into a powerless corner.

That's the real problem, and that's how we got here. She's beyond contempt, but enough people voted to put her up there tonight, and that's what we're up against now. "Something rotten..." But these historic tragedies don't happen overnight, they build slowly to a tipping point, and the momentum of petty hatred and vile nastiness in the nooks and crannies of Little Britain has finally shown itself this last few years. She and her abysmal party couldn't have done it without "you"!!

GCAcademic · 20/03/2019 22:56

At least we will get a deal with USA as Donald trump approves of us becoming independent...

Fuck me, are you for real?

Asta19 · 20/03/2019 22:57

I’ve been looking more at the petition and you realise they’re meaningless right? It just means the government will give a response if it gets over x amount of signatures. It doesn’t change a thing. “Leave the EU without a deal” has more signatures than the one linked above. And there’s been a standard response which is exactly what this petition will get. It will not make any difference.

NataliaOsipova · 20/03/2019 22:57

“I am the only person who understands the will of the people...”

Said every fascist in history.

sailorsdelight · 20/03/2019 22:57

I know, let’s call it a day. Cancel Brexit - big mistake move on. Nothing to see here. Problem solved.

anonymousbird · 20/03/2019 22:58

I don't care for TM, but I don't think it's just down to her - all the Brexit fuckers have really set us up for a fall, she has had "advisers" all the way along. EU have made it clear FOR MONTHS that there is no room to negotiate, they aren't budging.

It's a bloody shambles, it was always going to be.

David Cameron, hang your head in shame.

WaterQuarter · 20/03/2019 22:58

If the UK thinks the EU are tough negotiators wait until the American start on them. The US will strip the UK for parts.

anonymousbird · 20/03/2019 22:58

5000 votes in the last two minutes!

DangermousesSidekick · 20/03/2019 22:59

I kind of agree SophisticatedSarcasm. Before Cameron we can also drag Blair into it, with his destruction of council funding and use of targets and propaganda to hide the rise of inequality, and then Thatcher. Probably before that. Every leader inherits the mess left behind, as do we all. Why has there been no attempt to change this road we're on? As TemporaryPermanent says upthread, the correct way of responding to the referendum would have been to examine the options, then check the public against those. May chose to pursue this dictatorial route.

Between them all, this country is finished imo. I think we're in for riots and breakdowns now. The Union is finished, and I don't think England will survive much longer either. Regions will start to pull away.

SeeYouLaterUserData · 20/03/2019 22:59

That petition is going to hit half a million before snooze time.

Abouttimemum · 20/03/2019 22:59

I agree with her to be honest. Both no deal and another referendum are out of the question. I have no idea what people actually thought would happen when we stupidly voted to leave.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 20/03/2019 23:00

Just to clarify I was being sarcastic about Donald trump.. I absolutley can not stand the guy.... I do not care what he thinks of our country....

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:00

I still don't understand what else she was supposed to have done? All this hatred for her when really it's Cameron you should despise.

pootyisabadcat · 20/03/2019 23:00

ANYONE who believes that a Tory, any Tory, is on the side of anyone other than the very rich is completely and utterly deluded and possibly even more so than May. And therein lies the root of the entire clusterfuck.

pootyisabadcat · 20/03/2019 23:01

I still don't understand what else she was supposed to have done? All this hatred for her when really it's Cameron you should despise.

That, too!

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 23:01
