I have started watching Turn Up Charlie. I think he would be great as Bond. Bit of a departure what with the East End accent and looking (struggling to say what I mean accurately here) . A bit rough around the edges looking rather than polished if you see what I mean. And yes. He is a non minger crush of mine😀! Or a woman. Suggestions?

RIDICULOUS rationale that Idris can't be Bond because a black spy wouldn't "blend in". Ridiculous and kind of racist.

I always thought he would be perfect but I agree he may be a shade too old now, which is unfortunate.

A woman wouldn't work as Bond. James Bond is a male character. It's not like Dr. Who, in which there is more scope for ambiguity.

A black man would stand out like a sore thumb in many parts of the world - how could he be a spy?

Eh? No he wouldn’t. No more so than a white spy in a mainly black part of Africa; like the opening scene of one of the ones with DC. The one with the ridiculous parkour scene, you know? Nobody batted an eyelid at that and said he should have been black to fit in .

I would prefer a Bond spin-off, with IE or someone else playing another 00 agent in the same 'world'.

I think Chris Hemsworth would make a great Bond, he would bring the charm back to the character.

Would LOVE Idris or Cillian Murphy he plays a fantastic villain character in peaky and think he would be great but perhaps not 'buff' enough.

Richard madden is too short, and Jamie bell just has a skinny face. And neither is attractive to most in the audience.

A black spy would be good maybe exactly because apparently some people think they couldn’t be a British spy (), double bluff and all that :)

I'd quite like Idris, I was very late to the Luther party but my god, he's a dude and a half. He's got something about him that other actors just don't have imo. So him please, if not that guy from Bodyguard with Keeley Hawes, he'd do too because he also has that something.

Bond is a man. The character is male. It's not like Dr who where the main character can regenerate into anything.

In the books the character is a white average looking bloke so why not stick with that.

I would love to see a spin off with Idris Elba in. And some female spies. But that's not what bond is.

The writers also have a problem with having a male saviour character, who sounds a bit MeToo at work, and shags women who are just used as props. They did ok treading the line with DC’s films - though they got bloody miserable, so hoping they’re not so grim this time round (but don’t overshoot and go creepy)

Cast someone who looks like him, to be accurate, no one would buy it. Look him up.
