Who should be the new James Bond.

I have started watching Turn Up Charlie. I think he would be great as Bond. Bit of a departure what with the East End accent and looking (struggling to say what I mean accurately here) . A bit rough around the edges looking rather than polished if you see what I mean. And yes. He is a non minger crush of mine😀! Or a woman. Suggestions?

If they cast Nick Frost I’d actually watch it for the first time since Roger and his acting eyebrows . They’d have to swap the martinis for cornettos though.

Very racist comments on here quite shocking actually it is 2019 and we are equal and rightly so.

I generally think they're a load of misogynistic claptrap conceived to market variois high lrofile consumer brands and that James Bond is a bit of a mysogonistic thug.

That said, no one has blanched when he's been portrayed by five different actors of differing heights, hair colours , accents and nationalities. In the novels Fleming described James Bond as looking like Hoagy Charmichael and none of the actors who've played him have looked anything like Hoagy Charmichael. (pic below) But a black man....woah unrealistic and people are up in arms.

When they rebooted the franchise, they missed a truck, they could have retconned the notion of 'James Bond' as the undercover identity assigned to the 007 agent and that they're essentially 6 different people. It would also explain why Judi Dench, supposedly a spymaster, failed to notice how Bond went from being a dark haired Irishman to a younger blond haired Englishman in n a couple of years.

Idris, sadly too old now. They like to booked them for 6 movies. I think Chiwetel Ejiofor might be a smidge too old too, but he’s fabulous in a baddie/goodie role - see Serenity.

Henry Cavill looks the part but I don’t know..too smug?

Tom Hardy would be fabulous, but I doubt he’d do it for that long.

My choice is Dan Stevens after seeing The Guest.

Richard Madden and Aiden Turner would be ok, Madden can do ruthless better.

Aiden Turner is far too beautiful to play Bond. He couldn't blend in anywhere if he tried!

They do need a relatively unknown actor, and some actors (cough cough Aiden Turner, Dan Stevens, that blond faced man... Norton?) have blatantly tried to go for a Bond type role before but not really lit a fire with it. Oh also Madden, he tried.

Years ago, when Luther first came out I thought he would be perfect for Bond. Now, not so mich, he seems to have worn off somehow.

Shame they didn’t cast him back then, but Daniel Craig was still going strong.

Also, Live Owen should have been Bond.

DM was a big Bond fan from the first book and had very clear criteria for Bond. The main one being that while he had to be suave, charming, sophisticated etc etc, you had to be aware of - and believe - that here was a man who would knife you without a seconds thought down a dark alley. I guess it's that "edge of menace" ? It's that impression which meant Roger Moore could never quite pull it off (which the franchise ended up playing on ....). For me (and DM before she passed) Connery and Craig were the exemplars.

Plenty of suave, sophisticated etc etc actors. But able to give off that edge of danger ?? Maybe Andrew Scott (Moriarty from "Sherlock" ?)
