Am I the only one surprised to hear that when it was put that there could be a second referendum the shouts of no overwhelmingly outweighed the yes’?

So if we did have another vote on remaining or leaving and it came back with the same result of “Leave” what would all the remainers do then?? Keep pushing for vote after vote until they got what they wanted?? But the remainers will get what they want in the end so I don’t know why they are moaning. The government & May have it all orchestrated to back out of leaving in the end betraying over 17 million people. May has bowed down to them, dithered and looked a nervous wreck throughout it all.

I voted leave and I’m glad I did. I would do the same again. These negotiations have shown what the EU really are. A club for the boys!
Bash me if you like seen as how I must be scum (I’ve got a thick skin) but it’s time we told the EU where to stick it. No deal & start a fresh! That’s what I voted for, not a deal with the EU.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 13/03/2019 08:16

You actually think i want this oppen

A complete balls up, humiliation and embarrassment over just how bad the balls up is and just about eveyone who voted being really annoyed

Yeah..deffo my plan when i voted

AlexaAmbidextra · 13/03/2019 08:19

The scum of the UK voted for Brexit.

Yes, Remainers are so intelligent aren’t they? Eloquent, open-minded, certainly none are ignorant bigots. Oh wait.........

ohmywhattodo · 13/03/2019 08:20

The whole thing is a complete shambles and makes me want to emigrate to a non EU country!!

HotpotLawyer · 13/03/2019 08:25

It is completely unacceptable to call Brexit voters scum.

Some are, some aren’t, just like remainers.

(I am a remainer)

Cwtches123 · 13/03/2019 08:34

I voted to remain and I think we should have a second vote.
We now understand the realities and difficulties involved in leaving. I would like to know that the majority of people in the UK do want to still leave, I don't see anything wrong with asking people to confirm what they want . It is, after all, a decision that will have implications for many years to come!

Unfinishedkitchen · 13/03/2019 08:34

I don’t want another referendum. I just want to PM to revoke the bloody thing. Then immediately focus on addressing how we got here as well as throwing a fuckton of investment in to poorer areas and communities.

The money and time spent on Brexit could’ve solved much inequality. None of the inequality in our country is caused by the EU. Our own governments since Thatcher have implemented policies which have caused real harm.

MuseumofInnocence · 13/03/2019 08:38

I also just want revoke now. Parliament in sovereign. Parliament has tried but it has rejected the only deal on offer in a bipartisan way twice now with big majorities. Parliament should now vote to revoke on the basis that Brexit is not in the interests of its constituents and put an end to this. It would show that the system works.

oppen · 13/03/2019 08:39

I’m very sure no one on either side of the fence wants what is happening at all. A bunch of muppets leading us and really only concerned with their £80k salary......

Oh I’ve been called worse than scum because I’m a leaver LOL! Water off a ducks back....... I don’t feed trolls...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/03/2019 08:47

We now understand the realities and difficulties involved in leaving.

I’m not sure that’s true. The EU are bullies who are making it difficult to leave narrative is still strong among a section of leave supporters. I suspect that most of the people who understand why leaving is so difficult probably understood it the first time round.

Gilead · 13/03/2019 08:51

400,000 ex pats in Benidorm. Stupid buggers want us out. Whilst living in Spain. Good grief!

Gilead · 13/03/2019 08:51

Sorry, 400, 000 in Spain.

Limensoda · 13/03/2019 08:53

Democracy is voting every few year to check you are still happy. Leavers are worried that the majority of this country now want to remain. They are using typical bully boy tactics to get what they want

Absolutely!

Limensoda · 13/03/2019 08:55

New definition of 'bully'....Someone who doesn't let you have everything your own way.

I don't understand why people say it's undemocratic to have another referendum nearly 3 years after the result.
We normally have a general election every 4-5 years

We do have regular general elections but we also implement the results of those elections. The point here is that we have not implemented the instructions of the majority of the electorate. We have not left the EU.

You aren't comparing like with like. What you are saying would only make sense if we left the EU as a result of the public vote and then, in 4-5 years, had another referendum on whether to rejoin.

I have an issue in that we elect MPs to represent us. They should vote in parliament in accordance with how the majority of their constituents voted. They should not vote in parliament based on their own view as this gives their voice a disproportionate amount of power.

MPs seem to forget that they are public servants. We are the public and they are the servants.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/03/2019 08:59

Just revoke the damn thing. Brexiteers have had 40 years to plan and failed miserably.

MuseumofInnocence · 13/03/2019 09:03

We do have regular general elections but we also implement the results of those elections

I'm not sure what you mean here. What we do in General Elections is that when a party wins an election standing on a manifesto, they generally work to implement their policies, but there is no guarantee that those policies will be implemented. The same is true of Brexit. We've given it a fair crack of the whip, but it is not implementable, without serious damage to the UK. Time to stop now.

Gilead · 13/03/2019 09:05

Whilst MPs should be listening to the electorate, they also have a sense of responsibility and should in some cases vote with the best interest of the country in mind. The electorate doesn't always know best, otherwise we'd still have hanging.
Apart from which a referendum is not legally binding.

oppen · 13/03/2019 09:05

Just revoke the damn thing. Brexiteers have had 40 years to plan and failed miserably.

But we haven’t had brexiteers leading us. May & her other remainers have been in charge. Anyone who has believed in Brexit left. Or were pushed which is most likely as they won’t have been towing the remaining line.

MuseumofInnocence · 13/03/2019 09:06

Are you aware that this is not how our system has historically worked? Do you see that your wishes would constitute a radical departure from our democratic traditions?

Frankiestein402 · 13/03/2019 09:07

@Imissgmichael and other knowledgeable leave voters - please could you possibly give us some benefits of leave?

LaurieMarlow · 13/03/2019 09:11

But we haven’t had brexiteers leading us. May & her other remainers have been in charge

Nonsense. Boris, David Davies, Liam Fox all had a shot. They all slunk off because they knew they couldn’t deliver.

Say what you like about May (and I could go on for years) but she is trying to deliver brexit.

No-one else has come up with anything (apart from the nuclear, ‘throw toys out of pram and fuck the country’ no deal option Hmm)

PandaSky · 13/03/2019 09:23

Democracy is voting every few year to check you are still happy. Leavers are worried that the majority of this country now want to remain.

Ok so we have another referendum. Remain wins. So we have another one in a few years time (because that's your argument, that democracy is every few years to check everyone is still happy). Leave wins.

It becomes like the bloody Hokey Cokey. It's ludicrous.

Or do we stop only when remain wins? That what remainers really mean isn't it? Not democracy at all, you just couldn't accept the first result that over 17 million people voted for and want another go (shall we do best of 3? Paper scissors rocks?)

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/03/2019 09:27

But we haven’t had brexiteers leading us. May & her other remainers have been in charge.

So as a leaver, what would you have done differently? How would your red lines have been different from May’s and how would you solve the issue with the NI border?

LaurieMarlow · 13/03/2019 09:29

Nonsense. Boris, David Davies, Liam Fox all had a shot. They all slunk off because they knew they couldn’t deliver.

Ooh I forgot about Dominic Raab. Another leaver who fucked off when confronted with the reality of negotiating out.

All JRM ever does is say no to things. Ditto the DUP. That’s really fucking easy. 2 year olds are great at it.

They’ve done nothing to actually forge an agreement to leave.
