Forgetting everything but the fact an innocent baby has died

AIBU to feel unbelievably sad that Shamima Bergum’s baby has died.

The poor mite simply didn’t have a chance in the world he was born in to.

Sad

She should probably stop getting knocked up by ISIS terrorists.

She was 15 when she was groomed. You think she’s free to walk away?

PortiaCastis · 08/03/2019 20:01

I don't think there was a baby either and also agree that all the male ISIS fighters that have returned should be treated the same as a groomed 15 (now 19) year old girl

HighlightsandHeels · 08/03/2019 20:01

yogawannabe

Were you not able to read the rest of my post? This girl was groomed. From before the age of 15. She was a kid.

Compare and contrast the opprobrium (rightly) for the men that groomed the girls in Rotherham and the empathy (rightly) to those child rape victims.

coco123456789 · 08/03/2019 20:02

I can’t actually believe that people are trying to reassure themselves that there was never a baby just so they can feel better about what a mess this country made in dealing with the situation. Probably the same people who reassure themselves that people on benefits are all living it up with giant TVs and having a whale of a time. The conservative government have cause so much damage in trying to make sections on this country hate and resent each other.

slipperywhensparticus · 08/03/2019 20:02

I'm sure it was a baby I'm not sure it was her baby she seemed so dispassionate about the child

Justanotherlurker · 08/03/2019 20:02

Wouldn't be the case if she didn't leave her safe home and join a terrorist group.

We wouldn't even now if ISIS was currently at the point of collapse.

BertrandRussell · 08/03/2019 20:03

“Over 440 male Isis fighters have returned to the country, but the 15 year old who was groomed is the one the media go batshit over.’”

Yep.

HeyDelRey · 08/03/2019 20:03

Quite, BirdieInThe Hand.

A good number of people on this thread need to take a good look at themselves. Hint - you're vile.

Think back to the Jeremy Forrest case, and his pupil who ran off to France with him. She was the same age, but I bet you didn't blame her. This girl was brainwashed and stupid yes, but she's lost three babies. Even if the conspiracy nutters are right, does losing only two make it oh so much less devastating for her?

YogaWannabe · 08/03/2019 20:03

HighlightsandHeels

It doesn’t explain why the thread makes you sick? The situation, understandable. Why does this thread make you sick?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 08/03/2019 20:03

Of course the ‘baby’ is dead. It was always going to die. The only question was going to be whether it died while the so-called mother was in Syria or back here. It would have either served its purpose and brought her back or conveniently disappeared when the desired result didn’t happen.

YogaWannabe · 08/03/2019 20:05

What’s with MNers going all vague Facebook “some people”

Why don’t you stop with the “hints” it’s immature and silly.

Who is vile and why?

flitwit99 · 08/03/2019 20:05

I didn't believe it was her baby at the time, it just seemed too much of a coincidence that a British journalist happened to find her in all the mayhem of that camp just as she had given birth.

But now I feel massively guilty for having thought that if there is even a possibility that she did have a baby and her baby has died.

Katterinaballerina · 08/03/2019 20:06

It’s threads like these that make me appreciate dogs.

picklemepopcorn · 08/03/2019 20:06

Wouldn't the journalists and the camp organisers who moved her have commented if there had been no baby? Wouldn't someone have helped her give birth, been asked for baby supplies etc?

nancy75 · 08/03/2019 20:06

I’m not convinced there was a baby.

Even if her citizenship had not been taken away the situation now would be the same. To come back to the UK she had to get herself to an embassy, the other option was someone (British soldiers?) going in to rescue her.

sleepalldays · 08/03/2019 20:06

It's sad of course (a baby is 100% innocent) but how can we be sure the child wasn't a ploy to attract sympathy from the beginning? Was there any proof she was pregnant and that was the actual baby?

Also we've had no proof of the 2 previous sob story baby deaths...

I don't have any sympathy for her unfortunately. If she was so concerned for her baby she should have handed him over to the U.K. as he was a British citizen.

Hoppinggreen · 08/03/2019 20:07

Very sad, poor baby
However, None of the other ( many I’m sure) babies who have died after being born in refugee camps have been reported on in The a British press.
RIP all of them

"An awful lot of innocent babies have died, innocent children raped and murdered while Begum was busy building the caliphate."

100% agree @Smoggle

In my eyes she is a terrorist, whether she killed anyone personally or not.

@coco123456789 I am on benefits and I am sceptical there was ever a baby.

I also don't hate or resent anyone without reason.

NoCauseRebel · 08/03/2019 20:12

She may have been fifteen when she joined isis but she’s an adult now and still applauds what they stand for.

And FWIW I don’t believe she was groomed. A fifteen year old knows right from wrong. They know that beheadings are not glamorous. This isn’t someone who was star-struck by e.g. the attentions ooof an older man this is someone who was attracted by the idea of going out to a foreign country and participating and celebrating in the murder of innocent women and children.

PurpleDaisies · 08/03/2019 20:13

And FWIW I don’t believe she was groomed. A fifteen year old knows right from wrong.

You’d say that about a girl groomed by her teacher?

SouthernComforts · 08/03/2019 20:13

Is there any evidence at all that's she's had 3 children?

IF she's lost 3 children, she should live with the knowledge that she chose that life and death for them by her own actions, and she should be sick with guilt.
