Forgetting everything but the fact an innocent baby has died

AIBU to feel unbelievably sad that Shamima Bergum’s baby has died.

The poor mite simply didn’t have a chance in the world he was born in to.

Sad

Over 440 male Isis fighters have returned to the country, but the 15 year old who was groomed is the one the media go batshit over.

I don't deny she would need to be watched, and thoroughly investigated, but it is no accident that the men get back in unnoticed, but the girls/women are ostracised and held up as devils.

That boy deserved better, from everyone.

ILoveBray · 08/03/2019 19:48

calpop

A baby that nobody saw and was covered up when she was interviewed. Now no longer needed/working to get sympathy. hmmm...

It was all a bit convenient.

Yogagirl123 · 08/03/2019 19:51

Do we know for sure she has even had a baby?

Elllicam · 08/03/2019 19:52

I have a lot of sympathy for anyone who loses a child regardless of anything else. Poor baby, I would imagine the lung infection was actually something like bronchiolitis. My youngest had it a few weeks ago and spent some time in hospital on oxygen. I don’t imagine the medical care and equipment in the camps is up to much. The poor little boy wouldn’t have had a chance.

derxa · 08/03/2019 19:52

I agree OP. It has made me feel very sad. Ch 4 news also reported about all the other babies in the camp who have died.
However if Shamima had stayed here she could have avoided all this misery.

RavenousBabyButterfly · 08/03/2019 19:52

Completely agree 10IAR

ApolloandDaphne · 08/03/2019 19:53

It all seems very strange.

UnexpectedButExpected · 08/03/2019 19:53

Oh wow. I hadn’t even thought of that.

What about the journalists who spoke with and interviewed her? Surely they would have noticed if there was no baby?

NoCauseRebel · 08/03/2019 19:53

I don’t believe there ever was a baby.

Did anyone hear the interview with the husband? Even his own family don’t want him back.

UnexpectedButExpected · 08/03/2019 19:53

And yes, @10IAR

‘Over 440 male Isis fighters have returned to the country, but the 15 year old who was groomed is the one the media go batshit over.’

This.

Clarl · 08/03/2019 19:56

Very sad. It’s an innocent baby! Some of the comments on social media are vile.

NoCauseRebel · 08/03/2019 19:56

What about the journalists who spoke with and interviewed her? Surely they would have noticed if there was no baby? she was in a refugee camp. I’m sure there are babies she could have “borrowed” for the purpose. As it is she was moved from that camp because of objections to her being there by the other refugees.

While I do think that her having her citizenship revoked was more of a political move and I don’t necessarily agree with that, I do also think that she has played this to her advantage. Ah, here she suddenly was, pregnant. Nope, sympathy not forthcoming. So then she had a baby. Nope, still no sympathy. Then she was moved because of her views etc, and now that the baby is no longer able to draw in the sympathy it’s “died” so that people will ... what.... have sympathy?

BirdieInTheHand · 08/03/2019 19:57

This thread makes me sick.

She was 15 when she was groomed and married off to an isis fighter. She's 19 and just lost her third child. Can you imagine how that might feel?! What it might be like to lose not one of your DC but three. All before you reach 20.

Humanity is fucked Sad

YogaWannabe · 08/03/2019 19:57

I didn’t think there was a baby

Sitdownstandup · 08/03/2019 19:58

Why do people find the idea of a baby so implausible? She's married, she's not got access to contraception and she's hardly in a position to refuse sex from her husband. And she's 19. Maybe it is all made up but her having a baby is hardly far fetched.

crazycatgal · 08/03/2019 19:58

I don't believe that there was a baby. All we could see in interviews was a towel.

YogaWannabe · 08/03/2019 19:58

This thread makes me sick.

Why?

Amanduh · 08/03/2019 19:58

Sad for the baby, if it’s true. Not for her. She should probably stop getting knocked up by ISIS terrorists.

JacquesHammer · 08/03/2019 19:59

Poor baby.

Poor woman.

Sad all round.

Mrsmadevans · 08/03/2019 19:59

I am cynical that there was a baby too. Nothing has convinced me yet but if there was a little boy and he has died then it is very sad ..

TruJay · 08/03/2019 20:00

@SileneOliveira

I’ve thought the same all along, never believed there was a baby

LuluJakey1 · 08/03/2019 20:00

All babies are innocent, they don't need that emotive adjective.

Lordamighty · 08/03/2019 20:00

Shamima Begum was radicalised not groomed. She actively sought out extremist material online before joining daesh & still spouts their propaganda in interviews. I reserve my sympathy for the Yazidi people & anyone else murdered in the name of the caliphate.

TabbyMumz · 08/03/2019 20:01

We never saw the babys face. In the first interview her friend held a baby, so it could have been hers. After that the baby was still and never moved and in one interview it's face was so covered I'm sure it wouldn't have been able to breath.
