AIBU to ask if you changed your opinion about Brexit

We had a lot of Brexit threads but I think not about this topic. As somebody who does not live in Britain I wonder if you changed your opinion about Brexit now that you heard that a hard Brexit is most likely. Would you vote different if there was a second vote?

Go watch the news feeds from the time. Watch and listen to the heads of various EU countries stating that article 50 must be invoked sooner rather than later and at time that suited the EU.

The referendum wasn't legally binding, May didn't have to invoke article 50, irrespective of who said what or when.

May has also completely ignored the EU when they stated, repeatedly, that further negotiations were off the table and appears to be surprised that their loyalty is to Ireland (an EU member state) before the UK when negotiating the border.

The mistaken idea that the EU has to do what the UK demands and fall in line is catastrophically damaging. Good relationship? Not after this!

The referendum wasn't legally binding

It wasn't then the government ratified it.

May didn't have to invoke article 50, irrespective of who said what or when.

No she didn't but if your happy to ignore certain areas that were putting pressure on her then that is your prerogative.

May has also completely ignored the EU when they stated, repeatedly, that further negotiations were off the table and appears to be surprised that their loyalty is to Ireland (an EU member state) before the UK when negotiating the border.

Yes it has been a shit sow since before the referendum and cameron decided that he wanted a referendum because they had hurt his feelings.

The mistaken idea that the EU has to do what the UK demands and fall in line is catastrophically damaging.

didn't say that they did

Good relationship? Not after this!

It wasn't a "good" relationship before. Definitely a LTB if posted anywhere on MN.

Never said they didn't, in fact, it's their responsibility that they did.

No she didn't but if your happy to ignore certain areas that were putting pressure on her then that is your prerogative.

Certain areas that had absolutely no way of forcing it, and couldn't make it happen.

Indeed, where we are now is as the result of a Tory boy who couldn't hack his job. Wonderful.

didn't say that they did

They have, repeatedly.

It wasn't a "good" relationship before

It was better than it is now!

Some people seem to have a completely pie eyed view of what our role was within the EU. The idea that we were like some poor little battered wife is ridiculous.

You could say that about the pressure from the brexiters, the voters, the cabinet etc. but if you are going to say that it was pressure from her own cabinet then at least recognise that there was also pressure from the EU.

None of the pressure was enforceable though, you must realise that.

Nobody could force May to do anything. If she wasn't strong enough to withstand pressure, she shouldn't have been in the job!

at the behest of the eu

ffs

Voted Remain because I believe it to be the best and most sensible option. The shower of shit we've endured trying to leave has only reinforced this opinion.
