School forcing my son to play rugby

AIBU to think that it is wrong that the school is forcing my DS to compete in the rugby team?
When we joined I new he had to learn how to play and I have no issues with that. But to compete involves staying late at school twice a week and going to games Saturdays mornings plus he already plays football that's the sport he prefers. I am really annoyed and not sure how to proceed.

Hi @notdaddycool,
Thanks a lot for your post.
Yes, of course I read about the news and research study showing quite high risk of rugby as sport.
It is quite surprising that the school is quite adamant and making rugby compulsory not only in PE lesson, but also make selected students to take part in their extracurricular activities compulsory, i.e. after school training on Wed and Saturday, without respecting student's own choice.
No consent is required from parents for student to take part in such high risk sport.
I am quite disappointing really.
