To really not like my teenage daughters sometimes

Sometimes I just really don’t like them. That’s it really. I do t like their behaviour, I don’t like their attitude and sometimes I wish they would just go away (temporarily...kind of!)

Couldn't have said it better op! Dd's are 12+13 and omg.
Coping tactics here include - sleepovers, they adopt decent behaviour in front of their friends!! They spend the duration in their bedrooms - a big bonus!! And prior to the sleepover they need to do chores to 'earn' pizza /snack money!!

I have a 14 year old dd whom I love dearly but sometimes dislike. She can be so rude, entitled and lazy. I miss the loving little girl she used to be, I guess that's hormones for you

It’s natures way of preparing you for when they leave home. It makes it less painful.

I'm with you ! I love DD but at the moment don't like her personality hoping her old personality returns when puberty is done. DD is so shallow at the moment and quite unkind and bitchy about and to others, everyday is a fresh guilt trip to fund labels way out of my price range. Since when did teenagers need real LV bags (DD doesn't) but apparently it's now my fault she feel like a poor child with nothing 🙄

It will get better, my DM hated me in my teen years and I don't blame her, We became really close again, I do everything for her but I still cringe when I think back to some things I said to her.
My DD is only 10, I've noticed a huge change in her attitude along with her new pimples, I am dreading her in the teen years.

I have 15 yo twin girls and think I just might be glimpsing the light at end of the tunnel, so hang on in there!

Feeling the pain with you all tonight! Middle DD age 14 is just vile. I bought a DVD both she and I wanted to watch tonight, in the hope I could encourage her out of her room to spend time with me, whilst oldest DD is out - just caught her watching it alone in her room! She doesn’t doesn’t care about anyone, constantly rude, causes arguments - life is very peaceful when she is at her friends!😫

As my Mum said many times, I don't have to like you but I do love you.

I have changed this a bit for my sons, I don't have to like your behaviour but I do love you.

Most the time thankfully I do like them but OMG! They can be shits.

14yo DD1 this week she has skipped school and come in with a lovebite. She steals my make up and lies about it. We are the strictest, tightest parents ever take her phone off her at 10pm as she’d been up all night, don’t give her £50 a week and allow her out to all times.

I love my 20yr old to pieces but dislike her sometimes (often) sullen attitude and the fact she's lazy and workshy. I really hope she grows out of this phase in the next few years.

I am with you, OP. My DD was the most gorgeous, sweet, kind, loving little girl. She is an eye-rolling, entitled, rude, almost-15-yo. Like PP, I don't over-indulge her (she gets a modest allowance, no designer stuff, I take her phone off her at night, have reasonable but reliable boundaries) - but she's still foul.

By contrast, 17 yo DS (who was absolutely horrendous until he was about 13) has been a dream teenager.

Yes I understand. Mines 15 and wonderful most of the time. It's the eye rolling and huffing that gets me. Also one minute she's my side kick then she thinks I'm naff!! I try and not take it personally but it can be hard!!!

Not all daughters are the same! My oldest, now 18 is a dream, loves spending time with me, loving, kind, DD2 won’t even walk down the street with me, I find it so upsetting but realise this is normal teenage behaviour and I got away lightly with the first one!

my DD came home from uni last week. within seconds of getting through the door she was in a massive huff over who even knows what.

the day before she went back was spent huddled in her room, sulking about the wrong sort of crisps in the cupboard. approximately five words exchanged all day.

she got on the coach to go back, rang me an hour later and happily chatted for an hour and a half.

i remain baffled. hideous child.

Having gone through it with 2 girls (plus ds who was a bigger diva than either of his sisters) I'd say 14 is the worst. Dd2 is 15y3m and a much nicer young woman than 6 months ago. Dd1 is now 19 and a real pleasure to spend time with, as is ds (17).

My daughter is 14 in 2 weeks time. She really is awful. Life is so much peaceful when she isn't at home. I know things will get better as she gets older. Luckily for here I love the bones of her??

Wow needed this thread tonight. In bed crying with frustration. There is absolutely no joy in being a parent to teenagers. They're only nice to you when they want something. You're not allowed to look at them never mind touch them.

However they are amazing, polite and kind with everyone else .... so I'm hanging on in there.
