To not go to friends wedding tomorrow...I'm the bridesmaid

sillyandsally · 01/03/2019 19:05

I had a baby 3 months ago and she isn't sleeping on a night at all.
I'm lucky if I get 2 hours sleep.
I'm exhausted to a point I feel sick.
My friends wedding tomorrow and I'm bridesmaid but I know tonight I will be lucky to get even 3 hours sleep so I'm going to be in no fit state.
I feel so sick and exhausted with tiredness.
Aibu to tell her I can't go?
The wedding is at 1pm but she wants me over at 9am for makeup and hair.
I don't know what to do

TyanneRivers the wedding was today...

PolarBearkshire · 02/03/2019 23:27

Very lousy excuse. Massive let down. Book a babysitter, husband, mother, friend so you CAN sleep! And go. You knew you will have a baby - shouldnt agree to be a bridesmaid if have so terrible sense of responsibility . Definitely not a friend.

Wedding was today. She went.
Can you read ????

Bunbunbunny · 02/03/2019 23:33

Polar read the thread she went

TakeNoSHt · 03/03/2019 02:17

I’m glad you were able to go. You wouldn’t want to lose a friend by pulling out at the last minute and you would regret not going. I hope you had a great day and can catch up on some rest now

howwillwedeal · 03/03/2019 07:07

*FOR ALL THE NEW POSTERS, THE POST STARTED ON FRIDAY. IT SAYS THE WEDDING IS "TOMORROW' WHICH WAS SATURDAY.

THE OP WENT TO THE WEDDING.*

it's unclear if she cancelled the cheque though.....

Justkeeprollingalong · 03/03/2019 09:55

Well said @howwillwedeal !!
I wish OP would come back and tell us how it went.

howwillwedeal · 03/03/2019 10:00

@Justkeeprollingalong hopefully she had a cracking time, baby is still with GPS and she's still asleep. Smile

RosemarysBush · 03/03/2019 10:45

PolarBear you think she should have known six months ago that she was going to feel so wretched this week, that she shouldn’t have agreed to be her friends bridesmaid??

NCforthis2019 · 03/03/2019 10:50

Polar - why bother to comment if you haven’t bothered to read?!

howwillwedeal · 03/03/2019 10:52

@RosemarysBush I agree, I mean before I had my first child, I was going to be up every morning early, the baby would follow my routine, it couldn't be that difficult surely!

The I had my baby........everything out the window.

PandaSky · 03/03/2019 11:00

Funny how the posters that don't rtft never come back. Do they just go around reading the first posts, respond once, then move on to the next thread? It's like they just want to have their say regardless of if it's actually useful or not. I bet they always like to have the last word in an argument too.

GrandmaSharksDentures · 03/03/2019 11:09

I keep checking this thread, hoping the OP has posted saying what an amazing day she had & was able to really enjoy herself

Lizzie48 · 03/03/2019 11:30

@PandaSky That's very true. Actually I think some of them simply like to have the excuse to be as nasty as possible on here, because it's AIBU. They don't want to RTFT, because invariably that demonstrates that it's not as clearcut as they would like if to be.

RosemarysBush · 03/03/2019 12:12

Lizzie they’re probably Daily Mail readers....

sparkling123 · 03/03/2019 12:20

Aw I understand what it's like with no sleep, it's bloody awful.... but this is just one day, and you will never have to go through this again for her hopefully.
Lots of water, then coffee and snacks to keep you going, you will probably be delirious from tiredness by the time ceremony and pictures are done but I think if your friend will find it hard to trust you again if you don't go on her big day.
Can you ask another guest, maybe brides relative, an aunt or someone to help you. Explain you're not sleeping and can they bring you coke / water / snacks every now and then to keep you going?
X

sparkling123 · 03/03/2019 12:22

EmeraldShamrock · 03/03/2019 13:56

OP I am glad you decided to go, I feel for you with a young baby doing it alone, hopefully the GPs enjoyed babysitting so much, they'll do it again very soon, you can have a sleepaton. It will get easier, hang in there. Flowers

JoyceDivision · 03/03/2019 13:59

Top effort Sillyandsally! With dancing as well, you deserve a bridesmaid of the year award for not keeling over out of tiredness! Hope you got a nice chunk of sleep x
