Why are people still deluding themselves about Michael Jackson??

If any grown man I know invited children to sleep in his bed with him there would be absolutely no question about what was going on. I am sure that most people would agree, why are so many people still deluding themselves about this?? Makes me so cross, why do they even play his music on the radio??

His talent is not a shield, you can be talented and also be a peadophile, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Of course. Polanski is considered talented too.

teyem · 07/03/2019 16:58

Yes, Polanski is also a talented paedophile. I can't see anyone here saying otherwise

LakieLady · 07/03/2019 17:00

I've just watched the first part of Leaving Neverland o catch-up. I found Robson and Safechuck compelling. If they're lying, they deserve Oscars.

I also feel utterly sick that this sort of thing can go on.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 07/03/2019 17:03

teyem I’m just giving an example and making it clear I’m not implying being talented means you can’t also be abusive. Using someone who admitted it. Unfortunately, you get easy access to vulnerable people and children, when you’re in the entertainment industry, particularly if you’re extremely rich.

Lizzie48 · 07/03/2019 17:07

@BlooperReel

That strikes a chord with me. My F abused DSis and me yet appeared to all intents and purposes a loving husband and father and a successful businessman. My DM didn't have a clue.

Anyone can be a pedophile, that's the disturbing thing about it.

unicornsrule · 07/03/2019 17:14

Why don't robson and safechuck seem upset when talking about the abuse by michael jackson

teyem · 07/03/2019 17:19

Well, unicorn, I think they do seem upset. But I think they have been clear in showing how the manner of MJ's grooming made them feel complicit in their abuse and rearranged their boundaries and instincts to inculcate an undeserved loyalty.

unicornsrule · 07/03/2019 17:22

They talk fondly of michael when talking about everything

FromEden · 07/03/2019 17:22

Are you joking? They do seem upset. Im sorry that these abuse victims aren't behaving in a way that satisfies you Hmm

There's a part two btw and they both get cry in that. Probably won't be enough for you though

Waxahatchee · 07/03/2019 17:24

Perhaps unicorn you do not understand how victims behave

unicornsrule - Why did MJ giggle constantly during an interview about the sexual abuse?

teyem · 07/03/2019 17:25

Come on unicorn, you have enough intelligence to write and navigate the Internet, you can't be this dim.

unicornsrule · 07/03/2019 17:26

Not sure why i watched it !!

IrmaFayLear · 07/03/2019 17:26

I would prosecute parents of some of the victims.

It goes without saying that any paedophile is a disgusting excuse for a human being and should face justice. However, I don't think parents should escape culpability, especially in a case such as this one.

I wholeheartedly believe that parents who involve their dcs with such people are coldheartedly pimping their dcs for fame/money. Why accept (exceedingly) large pay offs? Why not shout about the abuse to save others?

I thoroughly understand how parents could be duped (particularly in the past) about some authority figures: priests, choir masters etc. But actively seeking out a pop star is different. And then turning a blind eye to sharing a bedroom (and leaving your ds with a pop star you've only just met and going on a road trip...) - no. These parents are facilitators and I don't believe for a micro-second that they didn't know what was going on.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 07/03/2019 17:29

There is no one way for victims of abuse to behave, it’s really damaging to imply there is.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 07/03/2019 17:30

Self-preservation - distancing technique - so testimony that is hard to bear might come across robotically - distancing pronouns using 'you' instead of I.

I think judging victims or potential suspects by how they behave is always going to be tricky as there is no textbook way to react and suppositions/assumptions have caused miscarriages of justice.

BlooperReel · 07/03/2019 17:34

@Lizzie48 I am so sorry for what your F did to you and your sister, i hope you have had support x

Abusers come in all guises

havingabadhairday · 07/03/2019 17:42

unicornsrule, I can talk about the abuse I suffered without appearing upset for a number of reasons.

It's "old news" for me, I've lived with it in my head for over 30 years. I've had counseling, talked about it a LOT. If I was upset about it at this point in time for some reason I would probably disassociate. There would also be an element of not wanting to upset the person I was talking to.

There you go.

GreenTulips · 07/03/2019 17:43

Remember this is American law not British they use money to replace justice - the best outcome is a payoff

unicornsrule · 07/03/2019 17:45

Have read whole thread

Why have only two guys spoken out??
Wouldnt there be loads

I feel that he was a very kind man
He was very childlike as he never had a childhood
His whole childhood was spent rehearsing with his brothers-
He never played out with friends!
Never went to the zoo, fair etc
Never had sleepovers

Thats why he built neverland

Budsbegginingspringinsight · 07/03/2019 17:48

I certainly saw the dancing in a new light.

DID anyone see Bashir interview.
In first part Micheal is pictured in room with floor to ceiling portrait of himself in a loin cloth surrounded by children like cherub's. It looked like Victorian pedophilic porn.

teyem · 07/03/2019 17:50

Maybe MJ gave Jordy Chandler $23,000,000 for kicks?

ValeurNutritive · 07/03/2019 17:51

I believe there have been at least 4 accusers in total.

And I can't believe 'why hasn't he been accused of molesting more children?' is being used as a defence.

Budsbegginingspringinsight · 07/03/2019 17:51

Unicorn... there's so much you need to read and be aware of.

It's too much for any poster too put into a post.
If you have Netflix watch abducted in plain site. It shows very similar pattern of grooming parents and how, why the parents left the child so exposed

Roomba · 07/03/2019 17:52

Having seen how those who have claimed Jackson abused them have been treated, would you come out and say actually, yes, he abused me too? Knowing that people would call you a liar, say you just wanted money or fame, the press hounding you... I suspect most people would stay quiet and carry on trying to maintain the quiet life they had, instead of having their reputations dragged through the mud.

I cannot see how anyone can still say that MJ was just an overgrown child, completely innocent (have you seen the itemised list of porn removed from his home?), just wanted a childhood after missing out... Plenty of people have abusive childhoods or have to grow up too fast - they don't surround themselves with small boys 24/7 as adults and bribe their parents to let them be 'best friends'. Please.
