strikes me there is a lot of missing items out there with no good reason why they are missing. first we had the ironing board saga then the missing chicken which turned out not to be missing in the first place but was a scary moment for a while.
well not to be out done i am missing my kindle not seen for 6 months and my ipod seems to have wandered off as well.
are any other MNers missing any important items? what is going on out there i wonder

Oh my goodness yes boxes & lids! I must have lost dozens over the years!
I once lost my Grandma’s engagement ring. Really thought it was gone for good. Then suddenly I had an idea to check my handbags & it turned up in the inside pocket of an evening one. I’d been to a jewellery making book launch & had taken the ring off whilst I made another. Such a relief!
A pair of jeans when I was still living at home. They were my favourites & I just couldn’t fathom where they could have gone!

RB68 · 26/02/2019 00:47

thanks @tryingsoveryhard I have copies too just not the original. but a certified copy may be worth while. I was under the impression it was the one thing you couldn't get

TryingSoVeryHard · 26/02/2019 01:52

The court can give you another "original" @ RB68 with the court seal on. Although it refers to a copy it actually won't be any different to the original - it's like ordering a birth or marriage certificate. Only you'd know it wasn't the original.

When I was about 10 I had a lovely bright blue long length jumper. It went in the wash. Never seen since. That was over 20 years ago!

MumOfOne92 · 26/02/2019 02:03

My chanel chance perfume 😭

Brilliantidiot · 26/02/2019 02:03

Apart from my marbles which I've given up hope on I bought the third set of nail clippers this week since Christmas.
Three bloody sets.
In all honesty they're probably in teenagers bedroom. Rather buy new ones than search that pit.

Shamefully lost a handgun for 3 weeks Blush!!

CircleofWillis · 26/02/2019 02:40

It is a little known fact that there are actually only 100 kindles in the world. They have to rotate themselves on a regular basis which is why they disappear as soon as you take your eyes off them. I know this as my Alexa echo is unusually honest about secret conspiracies. She has even taught me the secret Mason handshake and knows which celebrities are actually alien lizards in disguise.
She also says the ironing board OP has simply been going into an unoccupied flat by mistake and her own flat is next door but one.

My sun hat has eloped with my phone 🤭

The ones, where the items just suddenly appear in plain sight are weird. We had this happen as we’ll couple of years ago. Dds 3ds. It was on the dining room table. Then it wasn’t. Looked everywhere. Eventually bought a new one.

Some months later we were going away for a few days and I said to dd to get her (new) 3ds and kindle together. Anyway her kindle and new 3ds were on the cupboard in the hall ready to go. Her old 3ds had also appeared on the floor slap bang in the middle of the hallway. I know I didn’t put it there. Dh and dd said they didn’t either. It’s not as though it could have been there all that time!

Everything else that goes missing is usually eventually found. Bar socks. I lost some jewellery for ages but that was eventually tracked down to a cushion, where I’d hidden it when we went on holiday - were were burgled a few years ago so I hide stuff when we go away.

As for small items like socks, sometimes they are inside duvets and fitted sheets. I found some knickers months later when I’d washed some sheets, put the sheets away as spares and started using some new ones I’d bought. Then one day used an old one and found a bonus surprise of dds knickers.

I'm missing
£30
A Christmas present Sad

Rockmysocks · 26/02/2019 06:44

Not lost but unexplained - I got a new sewing machine about 15 years ago and had left it out one night. In the morning I found a pair of socks had been stitched together. Both boys, to this day, deny doing it, my partner denies doing it! I wasn't angry at the time, just old socks, just asked who'd stitched them together out of curiosity.

4 of them are in my house

As for teaspoons they end up in the black hole that is commonly known as Under a Teenager's Bed. My teenagers are probably in possession of all of your teaspoons. Before you ask, no, they aren't taking drugs.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 26/02/2019 06:49

DH's glasses. He took them off to play on the PlayStation and then an hour later when he switched it off they had gone. No one else in the room at the time, or came into the room while he was playing. Glasses were put on the table to the side. We literally stripped the room and they're not there. This was about 10 years ago now and they've never turned up.

dancinfeet · 26/02/2019 07:38

I got a silver ring for my birthday a few years ago from my best friend, wore it for about 3 days. One day I took it off for bed and left it on my chest of drawers. It vanished, never to be seen again.

crispsahoy · 26/02/2019 08:33

@PyongyangKipperbang all wrapping was burned in neighbours burning bin, he checked no sign of knife.

@MissLadyM it was late we had just been Santa and was covering the door with wrapping paper when we discovered scissors were in dd's bedroom so couldn't retrieve it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/02/2019 10:28

I cant find my camouflage trousers.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/02/2019 10:34

My dh is missing several horrible shirts.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/02/2019 10:37

I lost some jewellery for ages but that was eventually tracked down to a cushion,

Cushions are notorious for being pixie "thieves' kitchens"

Dowser · 26/02/2019 11:17

My mothers 1 carat diamond ring
Three of my crystals

PinaColada1 · 26/02/2019 11:25

My DP admitted to binning two pairs of my socks. I’m not sure how offended you can be about socks? You can’t even see them.

kelper · 26/02/2019 11:39

We once lost the sky remote for 2 weeks, I bought a new one, then went to put my wellies on and found the missing one inside (DS was 2 at the time, coincidence? I think not)
We're always losing stuff here, DH and DS are deadly for picking things up, wandering off with them, putting them down somewhere random and forgetting they've done so. Always my stuff though.......

Shockers · 26/02/2019 11:48

I lost an expensive watch when DS1 was a toddler. I think he put it in the bin.

I’ve also lost my engagement ring. I can’t shake the feeling that I donated it to a charity shop in the pocket of a nice washbag.

Halloumimuffin · 26/02/2019 11:54

I counted up and found that I had over 30 odd socks with no partner. Where they go, I'll never know.

BlueThesaurusRex · 26/02/2019 12:03

Wedding and engagement ring Sad

Pixies worked double time on that.
