Council lorry blocking me won't move because he's on his break!

Just come out of my house to find a council lorry parked across my drive. They're doing some digging a few doors down. Driver sat in the cab, so i politely asked him to move back a bit to let me get my car out of the drive. Point blank refusal. Says he's on his break, he's legally entitled to his break and he won't move until he's finished his break. Then winds his window up. By the time I report it to police or council traffic enforcement he'll have moved it hopefully. So I'm stuck here, and I'm now going to be late for a GP appointment. There are some pretty inconsiderate arrogant sods out there aren't there?

I'd report it to the council. He's a twat.

RussellSprout · 08/02/2019 11:09

Take reg of the vehicle and complain to the council?

cauliflowersqueeze · 08/02/2019 11:10

That’s outrageous.

Take lots of photos of him in front of your drive.

Film yourself asking him to move and him refusing. I’d be livid. Really angry.

Furrycushion · 08/02/2019 11:10

Report it to the council anyway & maybe he won't do it again. Take photos

cauliflowersqueeze · 08/02/2019 11:10

Definitely get photos of him in the truck.

Shouldistayorshouldifrodo · 08/02/2019 11:10

Take photos. Ask again while filming. Send all in to council.
Arrogant inconsiderate people deserve a good slap from karma

cauliflowersqueeze · 08/02/2019 11:11

Plus you have a Drs appointment???!!! Missed that bit!!

SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2019 11:11

How ridiculous. Did you write down the number plate or take a photo? I’d report to council. Of course he’s entitled to a break, but surely simple courtesy, if he’s blocking you in?! It would have only taken him 20 seconds.

NorthEndGal · 08/02/2019 11:11

You are so much more self controlled than me.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/02/2019 11:12

Wow!

Well I guess it's a good think it's not his lunch hour.

What a tosser.

SingaporeSlinky · 08/02/2019 11:12

Make sure the photos show the lorry position in relation to your drive and tour car, too.

blackteasplease · 08/02/2019 11:12

Take photos and report it anyway. To council and police non emergency.

Photos of him in the cab and the number plate.

BrightYellowHat · 08/02/2019 11:13

If he is on a tacho card he might not be able to drive during his rest period.

ElektraLOL · 08/02/2019 11:13

Tell him you'll let his tires down - that will make him move!

ElektraLOL · 08/02/2019 11:15

What a total wanker. Parking across peoples drives is illegal. You can't park unless the curb is raised. I would definitely take a photo and send it to the council.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 08/02/2019 11:15

Photo and send to council website.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/02/2019 11:15

*thing not think

RiverTam · 08/02/2019 11:16

clearly photograph the license plate and report him to the council. Doesn't matter if it takes longer.

ChrisjenAvasarala · 08/02/2019 11:16

Speak to the manager on site if they have one, or whoever is senior to him. Take lots of photos and call the council.

RiverTam · 08/02/2019 11:16

which it won't because as soon as he sees you doing it he'll swear at you and move his lorry.

QuestionableMouse · 08/02/2019 11:18

I'm sorry he's blocking you in but if he's on a tachograph he could get into serious trouble by driving when he's on a break. Can you get a taxi?

UrsulaPandress · 08/02/2019 11:18

What a total arse. That would give me the proper rage.

blackteasplease · 08/02/2019 11:19

He might be on his tacho card and not able to move. I get that. But if so he shouldn't have parked somewhere illegal in the first place.

He probably things "Oh well it's just women and the elderly who will be at home during the day (because he will be both thinking woman should be the ones at home and that they don't matter) who cares about them? They don't need their cars as they aren't important like me"

Magenta82 · 08/02/2019 11:20

if he's on a tachograph he could get into serious trouble by driving when he's on a break
Then he should have thought of that before parking over OP's drive!

BarbaraofSevillle · 08/02/2019 11:21

If he is on a tacho card he might not be able to drive during his rest period

^ This. He is not allowed^ to even turn the engine on or move the lorry an inch during a break. But he shouldn't have parked on your drive, obviously. Maybe he couldn't find anywhere to park and was in danger of going over his hours, which can cause strict penalties.
