Council lorry blocking me won't move because he's on his break!

Just come out of my house to find a council lorry parked across my drive. They're doing some digging a few doors down. Driver sat in the cab, so i politely asked him to move back a bit to let me get my car out of the drive. Point blank refusal. Says he's on his break, he's legally entitled to his break and he won't move until he's finished his break. Then winds his window up. By the time I report it to police or council traffic enforcement he'll have moved it hopefully. So I'm stuck here, and I'm now going to be late for a GP appointment. There are some pretty inconsiderate arrogant sods out there aren't there?

Can you sneak a placard on the back?
I park like a twat.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 08/02/2019 12:21

How in the world is this misogyny? The drive would be blocked whoever it belonged to

If a bloke had come out of the house and asked him to move, he would have moved.

caughtinanet · 08/02/2019 12:22

If a bloke had come out of the house and asked him to move, he would have moved

Don't be ridiculous, you can't possibly know that

StopMakingAFoolOutofMe · 08/02/2019 12:22

Sorry but the Taco made me smile.

I hope he moved!

havingtochangeusernameagain · 08/02/2019 12:23

I don't know that no. But it's an educated guess.

HappyDinosaur · 08/02/2019 12:23

He should never have parked there in the first place so its his own fault if he had to move it on his break.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 08/02/2019 12:24

Lots of men out there who think that you are a lesser being if you don't have a penis.

But I got around a similar issue by telling the twunt concerned that he could either move or I'd call the police to move him, so which would be prefer. After chuntering on about female drivers who shouldn't have a licence if they couldn't get their car out of the miniscule gap left, he moved.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 08/02/2019 12:24

which would He prefer. Not be.

Mmmmbrekkie · 08/02/2019 12:26

@havingtochangeusernameagain

Very similar situation happened here. Husband went out and asked to move. He was told to fuck off

I went out and asked him to move. He moved it.

LakieLady · 08/02/2019 12:33

What a cunt.

I hope OP has lots of pics of his illegal parking and is complaining to the council as we speak. Even better if she's taken a cab to the doc's and back, and has receipts so she can ask the council to reimburse her for the expense she's incurred because the driver's twattish behaviour.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 08/02/2019 12:36

Tacho rules are much more complicated than just driving hours. If he is on a break and had to move in theory he has to start his rest time again.

My dh drives a lorry so have to abide by tacho, rules but it doesn’t give him the right to block anyone in or park over someone’s drive. That’s just a bullshit excuse!

diddl · 08/02/2019 12:43

Cannot believe any one at all made any excuses for the ignoramus!

He was wrong, wrong, wrong to park across a drive with a vehicle there.

diddl · 08/02/2019 12:44

Especially if he wasn't prepared to move straight away when asked.

Magicstar1 · 08/02/2019 12:45

I'd ring the police, then get in the car and keep my hand on the horn until he moved. I'm sure the other guys would also soon tell him to move it.

JeezOhGeeWhizz · 08/02/2019 12:47

Placemarking.

Mmmmbrekkie · 08/02/2019 12:53

@Magicstar1

But that is unbelievably inconsiderate to completely unconnected people.

A mother trying to settle a baby to nap
A person with a migraine
Someone working from home

Come on. This man is being shockingly inconsiderate. Why join him in the gutter?

Transpeaked · 08/02/2019 12:55

Marking place (shamelessly)

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 08/02/2019 12:55

Take a picture, report.

hellsbellsmelons · 08/02/2019 12:56

I hope you went straight back out and took loads of photo's.
It's totally illegal.
Funnily enough, not if there wasn't a car on the drive.
And definitely report him.

HoraceCope · 08/02/2019 12:57

what a nasty piece of work

ChesterGreySideboard · 08/02/2019 12:59

I wonder if he would have moved if you had been a big hairy arsed rugby playing man?

HexagonalBattenburg · 08/02/2019 13:06

Had similar the other week with a driver from the electricity company based in the region parking behind my car which was parked in the local council carpark so he could eat his sausage roll on his break and refuse to let me out (he wasn't in any parking space - just had blocked me in so he could get his puff pastry and dubious bits of meat fix). Wouldn't move, so I photographed his van numberplate and shitty parking - while he was strutting that that wouldn't achieve anything.

Oh yeah mate - DH works fairly closely with the boss of your department in the company... guy got an absolute bollocking apparently.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 08/02/2019 13:11

I've had roadworks outside my house now on and off for 2 years for various different things. They use my drive as a layby and continually block me in. Generally they are really good about moving but I've learnt now to find out who the gaffer is when there is a problem and go direct to them. Hope you got out ok.

LannieDuck · 08/02/2019 13:34

Hope you got to your GP appointment. I would have taken photos and put in a complaint to the council.

RestingBitchFaced · 08/02/2019 13:40

Cheeky fucker! I would take photos of the van and him and put them all over social media
