Council lorry blocking me won't move because he's on his break!

Just come out of my house to find a council lorry parked across my drive. They're doing some digging a few doors down. Driver sat in the cab, so i politely asked him to move back a bit to let me get my car out of the drive. Point blank refusal. Says he's on his break, he's legally entitled to his break and he won't move until he's finished his break. Then winds his window up. By the time I report it to police or council traffic enforcement he'll have moved it hopefully. So I'm stuck here, and I'm now going to be late for a GP appointment. There are some pretty inconsiderate arrogant sods out there aren't there?

Can't believe some people are trying to justify this ignorant cunt, bloody hell

SaturdayNext · 08/02/2019 15:40

When on a taco, they're not allowed to move the vehicle, it's the rules.

But it's also the rules that they#re not allowed to park across people's driveways. If you choose to break one set of rules, you really can't pray in aid another set of rules to justify continuing the breach.

Belenus · 08/02/2019 15:51

I'd have already let his tyres down by this point.

I've never understood why people threaten to do this to a vehicle they want moved. It's not going to help the situation is it?

Strokethefurrywall · 08/02/2019 16:11

I'm so pleased I'm heading to a Mexican place for lunch in about 50 minutes... tacos....

ChesterGreySideboard · 08/02/2019 20:17

Well, op? What happened?

AintNobodyHereButUsReindeer · 08/02/2019 20:35

Hope he moved in time for you to make your appointment!

InfiniteCurve · 08/02/2019 23:42

Utter bollocks. Not only is his driving time restricted but the number of hours he can work (any work) in a day is restricted (assuming he drives for over 4 hours in the day) and the time he's allowed to work between breaks is restricted.

Wish I was a council workman then.No one restricts how long I can work between breaks....hang on,breaks?

And if he can't move because he is on a taco and would get into trouble that is his problem, not the OPs.He should have thought "Um - I am parking illegally and selfishly, blocking that car in,and if I get asked to move I won't be able to because of the taco - or I'll be in big trouble - better move now"
Not particularly challenging to work out.

MidniteScribbler · 09/02/2019 05:40

All the talk about not being allowed to move on break time is completely bloody irrelevant. He shouldn't have parked like an arsehole in the first place.

minisoksmakehardwork · 09/02/2019 05:59

Does your driveway have a dropped curb?

origamiunicorn · 09/02/2019 06:26

Are you and your council both on Twitter? If so, tweet a picture of the lorry which shows your drive and the registration plate. Twitter can get quite quick results. *

OP I need to know what you did are you coming back? Confused

Longdistance · 09/02/2019 06:28

I’d have tried to find out where he lives and park across his driveway 🤷🏼‍♀️ a bit of karma to bite him in the arse with.

About 15 years ago my dm and df ordered a upvc door with fancy glass that cost a fortune, along with some new windows. They came to fit the windows, but they didn’t have the fancy glass door ready, but wasn’t told this prior to fitting, they just turned up without it. They fitted a crappy door as a substitute. They kept pushing the date back of when they could fit the fancy glass door, making my df angrier and angrier. Anyways, driving around our town one day, df spots the salesman car (flashy thing with a private plate) parked on a driveway. Df knocks on the door and a woman answers (his wife). My df wanted to know when the door was gonna be fitted, but ‘he wasn’t in’. Funnily enough, the door was fitted the next day 🤔

StealthPolarBear · 09/02/2019 06:42

We need a diagram and an update :)

Princessmushroom · 09/02/2019 07:04

I presume the lorry's long since gone, therefore no juicy update. Now for the love of God will somebody bring me a taco? Easy on the cheese now.

YABVVVVVU

EASY on the cheese? The cheese is the best part

AhoyDelBoy · 09/02/2019 07:07

The OP didn’t return, funny that Hmm

FlopsyMopsyRabbit · 09/02/2019 09:12

@user1497207191 what happened?

TowandaForever · 09/02/2019 09:25

@HexagonalBattenburg

The cheek in refusing to move when you were in a marked space and he'd just stopped where he liked!!!

Film it, photograph it, report to the council, and then sad face to the DM.

chocolatemademefat · 09/02/2019 10:43

Tachograph my arse! He’s being an arsehole and all the posters finding excuses for him - and suggesting a taxi - should maybe have him parked over their driveway when they need to get out. This site has become nonsensical with people finding excuses for shit behaviour. Which doesn’t affect them. Get over yourselves and have some common sense. Tachograph! Some of you on here could make excuses for mass murder!

SilverySurfer · 09/02/2019 13:18

The tacho is irrelevant, he shouldn't have parked across the OP's drive in the first place. I hope you film the twat and send to the council.

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 09/02/2019 13:21

I don’t know what a tacograph is but surely if you KNOW you can’t move your vehicle for X amount of time- you don’t park it over somebody’s drive!!!!!

Chris4891 · 09/02/2019 16:32

It could have been a working time directive break and not a driving hours break. Agree he shouldn’t have been parked across anyone’s driverway and his attitude was way out of order. Drivers are also governed by WTD - so after 6 hours of any type of work he has to take a break irrespective of how many minutes or hours he’s been driving

StealthNinjaMum · 09/02/2019 16:35

No diagram and op didn't return.

Worst. Parking. Thread. Ever.

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 09/02/2019 17:39

Can’t believe they’d put this on the email when there is no conclusion Angry
