Council lorry blocking me won't move because he's on his break!

Just come out of my house to find a council lorry parked across my drive. They're doing some digging a few doors down. Driver sat in the cab, so i politely asked him to move back a bit to let me get my car out of the drive. Point blank refusal. Says he's on his break, he's legally entitled to his break and he won't move until he's finished his break. Then winds his window up. By the time I report it to police or council traffic enforcement he'll have moved it hopefully. So I'm stuck here, and I'm now going to be late for a GP appointment. There are some pretty inconsiderate arrogant sods out there aren't there?

OP posts:

^
They probably just looked at the number of page clicks, and didn't actually read the thread.
Now all the people who clicked through the email link will come back a few more times to see if the OP ever returns = more page clicks = more revenue.

ToftyAC · 09/02/2019 18:26

Some have pointed out his potential tachometer situation. The question is was he parked over a dropkerb for OPs driveway? If so then that’s illegal in itself....

BeatriceBee · 09/02/2019 19:06

You should definitely report him because that is out of order. My guess is his boss will not be very happy with him and quite right too!

FairyMoppings · 09/02/2019 19:21

Never mind reporting the arsehole lorry driver, the OP should be reported and banned from MN for not returning and updating a parking thread... a thread that ended up on the Hot Threads email.

I RTFT God damn it....
UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

IAmRubbishAtDIY · 09/02/2019 19:25

@user1497207191

You are wanted on this thread.

Wanttomakemincepies · 09/02/2019 19:29

Think we should report OP for not updating. Bigger letdown than my milk WinkGrin

Maisymoo22 · 09/02/2019 20:09

His legally entitled to a break but his not parked legally if his blocking access to and from your drive potentially holding you hostage in your home.

Teacher22 · 10/02/2019 06:36

Take a photo, report it to the council and remember that if you vote for Jeremy Corbyn people like this will, be running every aspect of public life.

TeddyIsaHe · 10/02/2019 06:54

@Teacher22 yes I do hear that Jeremy Corbyn spends most of his time parking lorries in front of people’s drives. One of his most pushed policies in fact!

Teacher22 · 10/02/2019 07:08

Teddyisahe, ‘like this’ clearly refers to a bullying, nasty, resentful, people-hating attitude, not any specific act any one of them might have performed or might perform.

In fact, we can, as I suggested, expect every sphere of public life, not just parking to vex a council tax payer to be poisoned by class hatred.

If you want to see what will happen under Corbyn, Mcddonnell and Momentum look up life under Joseph Stalin.

LadyKalila · 10/02/2019 07:26

Take reg of the vehicle and complain to the council?

Definitely do this. Would he have refused if you had an emergency? What an ignorant man.

anniehm · 10/02/2019 07:34

Take a photo and call the council or non emergency police number. It's illegal to block someone in unless an emergency

If his lorry is on a break he can't move it due to the tachograph. If he moves it during a break and goes over his driving hours his employer can fine him up to £300

So? He chose to park there in the first place, he is a grown man who made a stupid decision and he is the one responsible for dealing with the consequences of that decision. Your post implies that everyone else in the world is responsible instead, particularly the OP

allthatmalarkey · 10/02/2019 09:08

Why does it matter that it's a council lorry?
It's a lorry.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 10/02/2019 09:16

All depends what size lorry for starters. Plus the driver needs to have been driving for 4.5 hours before they need a break, so I’m finding it v unlikely they’d been driving for that amount of time with no break, then chose to park up in a residential street blocking someone’s drive.

RockinHippy · 10/02/2019 09:25

I had similar last week, though my actual front door was blocked by him pavement parking rather than the drive. Same ignorant response from the entitled arse of a builder who thought he was exempt from the usual trades permits needed to park around here.

We have a local number to report this sort of thing. I called that & sat back chucking to myself whilst the same arse was trying to win over a traffic warden, who was having none of it & gave him a ticket 😆
